HULSE, KATHLEEN

Kathleen Hulse, 74, of Monroe, NY, former long time resident of Suffern, NY on August 29, 2008. A woman of endless kindness and compassion who always gave more than she received. A former teacher, employee of Good Samaritan Hospital for over 30 years, active church member, fundraiser for Hospice, volunteer for the American Cancer Society, Literacy Volunteers of America, and Meals on Wheels. Mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be profoundly missed by her children, Jeanne Eccles and husband Brian, Charles M. Hulse, Rosemary Gallagher and husband Brian, Laura Juel and husband Vern, Elaine Leone and husband Angelo, Christopher Hulse and wife Gail. Cherished grandmother of Jason, Alyssa, Victoria, Angelo, Kelly, Michael, Kathleen, Matthew, Emily, Katherine, Anna and Leah. She is also survived by her only brother, Martin Gibson and sister-in-law Patricia, who love and will miss her greatly, as will many other of her extended family and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, Monroe. Interment on Thursday, September 4, 2008 in Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn. MASIELLO, VITA

Vita Masiello, 72, died August 28, 2008. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie Palermo. In 1957 she married John Masiello. She was a lifelong resident of Irvington. Her family opened the first deli in Irvington, which she helped to run. She retired from Reader's Digest. She was always there for her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband John and her daughter Grace Zarrilli and her husband Scott Bryant, three beloved grandchildren, Tonian, Deanne and Grant, two sisters Antoinette Weinberg and Anna DeNardo, a sister-in-law Carmen Palermo and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Palermo and sister Patricia Napolitano. Mass of the Resurrection 10 am Tuesday, Immaculate Conception Church, Irvington. Visiting 2-4 and 7-9 PM Monday, Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home, Dobbs Ferry. The family requests memorials be made to the I.V.A.C. EDWARDS-DOWDLE FUNERAL HOME, 64 Ashford Avenue, Dobbs Ferry, NY.

Raymond V. Leslie, of Chester, and former longtime resident of Lakewood, NJ, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at his daughters home. He was 88.
Son of the Late Albert Leslie and Florence Schmidt Leslie, he was born in New York, NY on May 5, 1919. He was a Carpenter for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in New York, NY. Raymond was a veteran of the Army Air Corps serving during World War II; member of the American Legion, Lakewood, NJ; member of Veterans Association of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company; member of Home Office Buildings of Emergency Rescue & Repair.
He was the widower of Doris E. Kimball Leslie.
He is survived by daughters, Linda G. Geloewski and husband Alfred of Staten Island, NY, Lorraine D. Moerschel and husband James of Chester; brother, Albert Leslie of Fishkill; sister Ada Wells of Connecticut; and grandson Gregory Geloewski and wife June of Maywood, NJ.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe, NY from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
The funeral service will be in the funeral home on Friday, February 29, 2008 at 11:00 am with Rev. Baron Ashfield officiating. Interment will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery, Rahway, NJ.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Original Leisure Village Foundation, Route 70, Lakewood, NJ 08701.

Thomas J. Conroy, Jr.

Thomas J. Conroy, Jr., a one year area resident, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2008 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 67.
The son of the late Thomas J. Conroy, Sr. and May Boucher Conroy, he was born on May 26, 1940 in the Bronx.
He was a retired N.Y.P.D. Detective with the 34th Precinct in New York, New York. He was also a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1960 to 1962.
Survivors include his wife, Marie B. Hughes Conroy of Chester; sons, Thomas S. Conroy, Kerrin Conroy & his wife Karen, and Sean Conroy, all of San Diego, California, and William M. Byrne & his wife Marie of Salisbury Mills; daughter, Denise A. Byrne of Monroe; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Still Road, Monroe. Interment will follow in Orange County Veterans' Cemetery in Goshen.

DOERNBERG, DUDLEY DAVID JR.

Dudley David Doernberg, Jr., 95, of Scarsdale, NY, died August 29, 2008. Mr. Doernberg was born March 20, 1913 to the late Dudley David Doernberg and Blanche Heyman Doernberg. Surviving are devoted sons Don (Cyndy Pope) Doernberg, Richard (Nancy) Doernberg, David (Tara) Doernberg and John (Carol Ehrlich) Doernberg. Also survived by loving sister Margery Bruno, nine adoring grandchildren: Doug, Emily, Alison, Sarah, Henry, Ellen, Samuel, Molly and Harry, and many devoted nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Nanette Doernberg, cherished sisters Beatrice Hecht and Natalie Hofheimer and brothers-in-law Joseph Hofheimer and Howard Bruno. Services will be held at Congregation Kol Ami, 252 Soundview Avenue, White Plains, New York, Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. HENDRICKS, RAYMOND F.

Raymond F. Hendricks, of Yonkers, NY, died relatively peacefully on August 28, 2008, two days short of his 88th birthday. Raymond was born in South Amboy, NJ and his parents soon moved to Nepperhan Ave in Yonkers. The son of Joseph and Anna (Kovalik) Hendricks, he was one of eight children and completed one year at Gorton High School after which he started working full time at the age of 15 to help support the family. Raymond served proudly and honorably during WWII as a Sergeant in the 6th Army Air Force stationed at France Field, Panama for 3 years as a crew chief and mechanic. He returned to NY in 1945 where he worked as a truck driver for many years. He retired after 25 years with the NYS Thruway Authority where he worked as the master carpenter and bridge dock builder Supervisor of the Tappan Zee Bridge. In 1952 he designed and built his own home on Fennimore Ave. where he lived with his wife Helen (Palica). Helen passed away in December 2003. He met his wife at a church bazaar and fell in love the second he set his eyes on her. Together they raised two children, Marylyn Rinaldi of Solana Beach, CA and Raymond Jerry Hendricks of Ardsley, NY. Raymond leaves behind three grandchildren Christine, Laura and Raymond John and four great grandchildren Noah, Kalea, Ryan and Andrew. Visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Bartholomew's Church on Wednesday September 3rd at 10 AM. MONDELLO, JEAN K.

Jean K. Mondello, a lifelong resident of Port Chester, passed away peacefully in her home on August 28, 2008. The widow of Charles C. Mondello, she is survived by her two children Charlene J. Daly of Poughquag, NY and Brian C. Mondello of Avon Lake, OH and their spouses Robert J. Daly and Rosalie Stracuzzi Mondello. Jean also leaves three grandchildren, Nicholas, Christine and Melissa, sisters Helen Pizzarello, Adele Angotta and several nieces and nephews. Jean was a dedicated nurse who worked for many years at St. Agnes Hospital in White Plains, NY, and United Hospital in Port Chester. Nursing was her calling and passion. She touched many souls during her 30-year career. She participated in many clubs and activities during her life in Port Chester: Knights of Columbus, Corpus Christi Seniors, and Port Chester Seniors to name a few. She loved dancing and bus trips. She was lovingly cared for in her home by three very special women: Catherine Crutcher, Elva Holness, and Eloude Desir. The love she gave to others was surely returned a thousand fold by these women. Her final years were active with their help and that of the Port Chester Seniors and all their members. Her family is deeply thankful for all in the community who shared in her life. She will be remembered and missed. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9PM on Monday September 1, 2008 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30AM on Tuesday September 2, 2008 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 228 Willett Ave., Port Chester, NY. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Rye Brook, NY.
