Janet R. (McGhee) Hall
LAGRANGE - Janet R. (McGhee) Hall, 77, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Vassar Brother's Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, with her loving family by her side after a courageous five year battle with lung cancer. She was born on April 2, 1931 in the town of NorthEast, NY the daughter of the late Collins and Mildred (Wirehouse) McGhee Sr. Mrs. Hall was a registered nurse. She worked for Northern Dutchess, Vassar Brother's and St. Francis Hospitals. She graduated in 1950 from Pine Plains High School. She was Alumni of Vassar Brother's Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. She was an active member of the LaGrange Fire Co. # 3 Women's Auxiliary. Past president and member of LaGrange Health Committee and very active member in LaGrange community. During her battle with cancer she found great comfort attending support groups at The Dyson Center of Vassar Hospital. On September 3, 1955 at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Pine Plains she married William J. Hall Jr. He survives her at home. In addition to her loving husband, survivors include, two daughters, Lisa and her husband, John Miller of Wappingers Falls, NY; Carrie and her husband, Ernie Canelli of Pleasant Valley, NY; a son, Brian and his wife, Lynn Hall of Canajoharie, NY; a sister, Betty and her husband, Richard Belliveau of Stanfordville, NY; five grandsons, Dustin, Brandon, Thomas, Christopher and Dylan, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Collins McGhee, Jr. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Monday, December 8, at the Peck & Peck Funeral Home South Main St. Pine Plains, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Tuesday, December 9, from St. Bridget's Roman Catholic Church in Copake Falls, NY, with Fr. Joseph Falletta, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery Pine Plains. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to The Dyson Center for Cancer, 45 Reade Place Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

Evelyn Angela Imperial
HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Evelyn Angela Imperial, beloved wife of Nicholas Imperial and devoted mother to Bill Imperial and his wife, Nell and Teresa Orton and her husband, Doug, passed away on the afternoon of December 4, 2008. She was a loving grandmother to Elisa Greener and her husband, David, Krista Orton, Daniel Orton, Nicholas Imperial and Katherine Imperial, and cherished great grandmother to Lillyana Marie Greener. Evelyn was born in Brooklyn, New York to Peter and Marie Ezzo. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Anthony. Evelyn attended Bushwick High School, and upon graduation from business school worked as an auditor for Stern Porter in Manhattan. She married Nicholas Imperial on September 5, 1953, and after devoting herself to raising her two children, she returned to work as an inventory control specialist at Tuck Industries in Beacon and Middletown, New York. Mrs. Imperial was active in the Saint Columba Altar Rosary Society, and she was a volunteer at Saint Columba School. Calling hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Saturday, December 6 and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Sunday, December 7 at the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home Inc., 1029 Main St., Fishkill ((845) 896-6166). Funeral services will be Sunday, during the calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:30 p.m., Monday, December 8, at Saint Columba Church, Hopewell Junction, New York. Interment will immediately following at St. Dennis Cemetery, Hopewell Junction, New York. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the East Fishkill Fire Department.

Virginia McCourt
MARLBORO - Virginia McCourt, 91, of Marlboro, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Crescentia (Zimmerman) Herberich. Mrs. McCourt was in the Graduating Class of 1939; College of Mount St. Vincent, New York City. Also Mrs. McCourt attended Sorbonne University of Paris on a full academic scholarship. She was fluent in French, Spanish and German. She loved to travel and she visited Europe 15 times often traveling with her students. Mrs. McCourt was a school teacher at Marlboro High School for 22 years where she taught French and English. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and a member of the Marlboro Faculty Association. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, John Joseph McCourt; a daughter, Maureen and Jonathan Berg of Monroe, CT; three sons, John J. Jr. and Harlee McCourt of Houston, TX; Kevin and Deirdre McCourt of Lido Beach, NY; Dennis and Pamela McCourt of Marlboro; and 10 grandchildren. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Sunday, at the DiDonato Funeral Service, 1290 Route 9W, Marlboro. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Monday, at St. Mary's Church, Rt. 9W, Marlboro. Father Edward Bader will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Lattingtown Rd., Marlboro. Arrangements were entrusted to Carl J. DiDonato Jr. and Lawrence M. Cavazza of the DiDonato Funeral Home.

Lucille M. Newkirk-Stevens
NEWBURGH - Lucille M. Newkirk-Stevens, 84, a fifty-year resident of Newburgh, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was a homemaker. Born January, 28, 1924, in Clinton, NC, she was the daughter of the late Figtchuw Newkirk and Josie McKeether. Survivors include four sons, Billie Ray Brunson and wife, Betty; Kelly H. Stevens and wife, Mary; and Preston Stevens all of Newburgh and Mervin Charles Stevens and wife, Bernadette of Beacon, NY; two daughters, Willa Stevens Wilson and husband, Howard of Hyde Park, NY and Joanne Stevens of Newburgh; special cousins, Loretta Ashford and Hattie Williams, host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, foster grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, Kelly H. Stevens, Sr. whom she married in 1942, son, Edward Lee Stevens and two sisters, Essolene and Winett. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 9, 2008 from 10:00am -12:00 noon at Church of God Prophecy, 477 First Street Newburgh, NY. Services will begin 12:00 noon at the church. Reverend Nelson McAllister will officiate. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Middlehope, NY. Rhodes Funeral Home, 259 Walsh Ave., New Windsor, NY, entrusted with professional arrangements.

Raymond W. Olson
JACKSONVILLE, FL - Raymond W. Olson, 72, of Jacksonville, FL, died Sunday, November 30, 2008. Born in Poughkeepsie on June 22, 1936, he was the son of Walter and Marion (Traver) Olson. Raymond was a U.S. Navy Veteran, and owned Olson and Sons Heating and Cooling until his retirement. On May 26, 1956, he married BettyJune (Lowell) who survives. Raymond is survived by his seven children, Danny & Sheila of Turner, ME; Kathy & Stephen Cox of Saco, ME; Linda Olson Alfano of Newburgh, NY; Paul & Colleen of Dingmans Ferry, PA; Raymond Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; Dwayne & Amy of Belmont, NH; Alexandria & Charles Heed of California, MD; and Diane Grace predeceased him March 1969. He had 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and the Hahn Family of Salt Point, NY, who lovingly raised him from childhood. Arrangements under the direction of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4747 Main St., Jacksonville, FL.

Mildred Rosenthal
MONROE - Mildred Rosenthal, 81, of Monroe, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern. The daughter of the late Jacob Yaskal and Tillie Rosensweig Yaskal, she was born on June 9, 1927 in Bronx, New York. Mildred was a retired bookkeeper for Michael D. Schulman, CPA in Central Valley. Survivors include her husband, Martin Rosenthal at home; son, Jason Rosenthal and his wife, Sue of Highland Falls; daughter, Traci Rosenthal and her companion, Hal Peni of Hopewell Junction; nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 7, from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home, with Cantor Vadim Yucht officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus, New Jersey. Arrangements by Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Homes, Monroe.

Robert F. Schuster
STANFORDVILLE, NY - Robert F. Schuster, 83, of Stanfordville, NY, died at Sharon Hospital, Sharon, CT, on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008. He was the husband for 53 years of Joan Silvernail Schuster. The couple had lived in Millerton, NY and moved to Stanfordville, 43 years ago. Robert had worked for IBM as a computer maintenance specialist and retired after 32 years of employment. He had served in the Navy during WWII, was a Sgt. in the Army during the Korean war, and later, joined the Navy again and was discharged from the 1st Marines, again serving during the Korean war. In addition to being a husband and father, he enjoyed organic gardening and was an accomplished wood worker. Mr. Schuster is survived by his wife, Joan at home in Stanfordville, one son, Mark Schuster of Poughkeepsie and one daughter, Terry Young of Cedar Hill, TX; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Valentine Funeral Home, Park Ave. Millerton, today from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., at which time a funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Henry Prause of the Millerton Baptist Church. Interment with military honors will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Pine Plains, NY with Pastor Gerry Clark presiding.
