Barbara K. Briggs-Sanderson
NEW YORK CITY - Barbara K. Briggs-Sanderson, age 52, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City after losing her battle to cancer. Survivors include her brothers, William F. Briggs, Jr. and his wife, Susan from Winthrop, MA and Bruce A. Briggs and his wife, Beverly of Gardiner, NY. Survivors also include an aunt and uncle Pat and Frank Sahler of Ellenville, NY and many nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Miriam and William F. Briggs of Highland, NY. There are no funeral services or calling hours. The family requests donations be sent to the American Cancer Society, 95 Schwenk Drive, Kingston, NY 12401, in her memory. Local arrangements are under the direction of Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 South Putt Corners Rd., New Paltz, NY 12561.

Margaret Cary
TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE - Margaret Cary, 85, of Town of Poughkeepsie, died July 1, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was a homemaker and had been a local resident all her life. Margaret was a member of the Moose Club of Hyde Park and was a member of St. Peters Church. She was loved by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a person who gets everyone around her involved. She loved to go to family parties and gatherings. She also enjoyed playing BINGO. Born in Poughkeepsie, NY, on January 25, 1923, she was the daughter of Michael DuPilka and Margaret Galvin. She attended schools in Poughkeepsie. On December 31, 1943, at St. Peters Church, Poughkeepsie, she married James C. Cary. He predeceased her on July 8, 1997. Survivors include Daughter; Barbara Kowalski, Poughkeepsie, NY; Daughter and Son In-law; Linda and Thomas Harding, Staatsburg, NY; Daughter and Son-In-law; Colleen and Gary McGrath, Hyde Park, NY; Grandchildren; Brian and Melanie Chambers, Edward and Laurie Kowalski, Gregg and Gina Kowalski, Sherry McGrath and Joy and Mike Frazier; ten great-grandchildren; Brothers and sisters- in-law; Joseph and Carrie DuPilka and Michael and Barbara DuPilka; Sisters and brother in-law; Eleanor Robertson and Marie and James Arvan; and Sister in-law Eleanor DuPilka. She was predeceased by Brother, Frank DuPilka and Twin Brother, John DuPilka and Sister, Marrietta Guido. Memorial donations to: Lutheran Care Recreational Department, Route 44, Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. Calling hours will be held Sunday July 6, 2008 from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. Funeral service will be held 11:00am on Monday, July 7, 2008 at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery Community Mausoleum. Burial will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.

Simone DePalma
RED HOOK - Simone DePalma, 84, of Red Hook, NY, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at her home. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses of Rhinebeck. Born December 18, 1923 in Montiers-sur-Saulx, France, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Victorine (Fraiche) Thieblemont. Simone married Frank DePalma on April 11, 1945 in France. He predeceased her on December 6, 1987. She is survived by her daughter: Rose Immich with whom she lived, a son & his wife: Charles & Eileen DePalma of Leland, NC, six grandchildren: Christine, Joseph and Gerald Immich, Michele Zabielski, Vincent and Frank DePalma, and five great grandchildren: Nichole, Nicholas, Angelina, Vincent, and Michael. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM on Sunday, July 6th, at Burnett & White Funeral Home, 7461 S. Broadway Red Hook, NY. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hastings, NY on Monday at 10:30AM. Friends may call at the funeral home before the service on Sunday from 57 PM. Memorial donations may be made in Simone's memory to the Hospice Foundation, Inc., 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

Timothy J. Ilyko
WOODSTOCK - Timothy J. Ilyko, of West Hurley Road, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at Kingston Hospital. He was 55. He was born October 2, 1952 in Buffalo, a son of the late John J. and Donna R. Froebel Ilyko. An area resident since 1999, he attended the Dayhab Program at Ulster-Greene ARC's Pecora Center. Timothy enjoyed watching sports and was a fan of the Yankees and the Buffalo Bills. He enjoyed reading and game shows, especially Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. He was remembered for his sense of humor. Surviving is his sister, Maryann Katz and her husband, Stephen of Poughkeepsie; his brother, John T. Ilyko and his wife, Colleen of Boston, MA; his nephew, Harry Katz, his niece, Rachel Katz and his many dear friends at Ulster-Greene ARC, with whom he lived and attended Dayhab. A sister, Donna Ann Ilyko died previously. A memorial gathering will take place on Tuesday from 10-12noon will take place at Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston. A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home at 12:00 noon by Deacon Jack Peters. Inurnment will take place in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Williamsville at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Ulster-Greene ARC Foundation, 471 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401.

Charles M. Scuderi
MARLBORO Charles M. Scuderi, a long time resident of Marlboro, NY, entered into rest peacefully at home with his wife at his side on Tuesday, July 1st. He was born in Yonkers, NY, February 26, 1937, the son of the late Dr. Charles P. Scuderi and Anna Marie Bettinger. He graduated from Marlborough Central High School, Class of 1955. He served as an electrician in the US Navy Reserves from 1955-1962, called into active duty from 19571959 with tours of duty on aircraft carrier USS TARAWA and also battleship USS IOWA BB61. He was a member of the American Legion. He avidly supported the Red Cross, donating 50 gallons of blood in his lifetime. He was a 31-year employee with IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY. Upon his retirement in 1993, he had worked his way up to the ranks of Senior Associate Engineer in the Product Assurance Department, where he was responsible for environmental qualification, mechanical and thermal analysis of a variety of IBM large mainframe products. While with IBM, he received various awards and recognition for his performance. He owned and operated Charlie's Air Conditining Service for over 40 years, providing automotive, residential and commercial air conditioning and refrigeration services in the Mid-Hudson region. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Delores E. Coutant. They were married May 5th, 1956 at the First Presbyterian Church of Marlborough, where he was a 50-yearmember. He is also survived by his 4 children and their spouses, Charlene and Charles Mills of Derwood, MD, Sandra and Donald J. Bland of Marlboro, NY, Benjamin Scuderi and fiancee, Bernadette Lombardi of Newburgh, NY, and Stephanie Scuderi of Marlboro, NY; his granddaughter, Tanya Mills of Burlington, VT and his sister, Carole Richard of Eustis, FL. He will be deeply missed at family gatherings, which brought him much joy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice, Inc. of Ulster County, the First Presbyterian Church of Marlborough or the American Heart Association. The family has special thanks to caregivers, Nancy, Jim, Ken, Sally and Denise for their support and compassion. Calling hours will be Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9pm at the DiDonato Funeral Home, 1290 Route 9W, Marlboro, NY. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11am at the DiDonato Funeral Home. Arrangements were entrusted to Carl J. DiDonato, Jr. and Lawrence M. Cavazza of the DiDonato Funeral Service, Inc., (845)236-4300.

MaryLou Cianchetto
NEWBURGH - MaryLou Cianchetto, 69, of Newburgh, died Wednesday July 2, 2008 at her son's home in Long Island. Born in Newburgh, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Violet (DiDonato) DeMartino. MaryLou was a housewife, as well as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to cook for both her family and friends. Survivors include her daughter, LuAnn Cianchetto of Newburgh; her sons, Gabriel Cianchetto of New York City; Michael and Veronika Cianchetto of New York, NY; two grandsons, Edward Metzler and Michael Cianchetto; one granddaughter, Natalie Haydon; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Gabriel John Cianchetto Jr., who passed away on Jan. 29, 2008. Friends may call Monday, July 7, from 5-8 p.m., at the DiDonato Funeral Home, 1290 Route 9W, Marlboro. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 8, 10 a.m, . at St. Mary's Church, Route 9W, Marlboro, with Father Edward Bader officiating. Entombment will take place at Cedar Hill Mausoleum. Memorial donations may be made in MaryLou's memory to Hospice of Orange & Ulster Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550. Arrangements were entrusted to Carol J. DiDonato Jr. and Lawrence M. Cavazza of the DiDonato Funeral Home.

Mary V. Imperatori
Mary went home to the Lord, her lifelong love, friend, and companion. Mary (Maria/Mimi) Victoria Imperatori was the daughter of the late Agostion Pio and Lidia Alma (Mori) Imperatori. She was born in Queens, NY on August 22, 1928. She is survived by a brother, Americo A. Imperatori, two nieces, Susan Fil and Louisa Bishop as well as one nephew, Richard. Survivors also include one grandnephew and five grandnieces, Richard and Audrey Imperatori, Laura, Cheryl, Pamela Fil, Ashley Hamilton, and several cousins in Italy, Argentina and Brazil. Mary resided in Queens, Long Island, Red Hook and Poughkeepsie, attending schools in Queens and Long Island and graduating from Grace Institute in Manhasset L.I., N.Y. She was employed by the Modern Industrial Bank, then Fallkill National Bank in Poughkeepsie, then going to IBM for the next thirty years. She was a communicant of Mt. Alvernia and St. Mary's in Wappingers Falls and St. Christopher's Church in Red Hook. Mary was a devout Catholic, finding ultimate comfort and strength in the depth of her faith. She was a willing and faithful caregiver of her parents. She volunteered at St. Francis Hospital for many years, St. Mary's CCD program, Mt. Alvernia Library, ACLD (Association of Children with Learning Disabilities), High Tor Opera Company at the Bardavon Theatre and various other charitable organizations. She was a director for the IBM Country Club activities, as well as a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club and the IBM Retirees Club. She was an original member of the Rosary Society at St. Christopher's Church in Red Hook, holding office as treasurer, serving on the committee's of Catholic Charities, Cardinal Campaigns and various other committee's conducted at St. Christopher's Church. She was an investiture in the St. Louis DeMonfort Society. For several years she was an Elections Inspector for the Town of Poughkeepsie and WCSD Budget Inspector, as well as serving on the Grand Jury. She became a member of the Center for Lifetime Studies program at Marist College for its inception in 1992. She studied at DCC and Marist, in addition to 30 years of continuous studies at IBM. For many years she was a member of the Poughkeepsie Business and Professional Women's Organization, holding offices as Corresponding Secretary and for many years as the Treasurer and Chairwoman for the Scholarship Fund with awards being given yearly to a woman attending DCC. She was a member of The Vassar Institute, Lions, AARP, the Catholic Golden Age Society and St. Francis Auxiliary for many years. Mary loved opera, her greatest joys and love in her life were her family, her deep faith and her opera. Her favorite opera was "Tosca". As a teenager she loved Frank Sinatra and Joe Di Maggio. She belonged to the bowling team at the Rhinebeck Bowling Alley. She also enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing, and needle work. Mary enjoyed traveling through various countries in Europe, as well as many frequent visits to Italy touring and visiting with her relatives in her parents hometowns of Marche, Italy. She cruised through Alaska and Bermuda and traveled through Canada and visited many states within the United States. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 6th from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a Mass Christian Burial that will be celebrated on Monday, July 7th at St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls at 10 am, with burial at St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to contribute to a memorial for Mary are invited to choose from the following: 1. A Scholarship at Dutchess Community College for the Performing Arts in memory of Agostino and Lidia Imperatori, her parents. 2. St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls, N.Y. 3. Mt. Alvernia Retreat Center in Wappingers Falls, N.Y.
