Violet Catherine Lane
KINGSTON - Violet Catherine (Rowe) Lane, 75, of Golden Hill Dr., Kingston, NY, died Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Golden Hill Health Care Center, Kingston, NY. A life long area resident she was born July 10, 1932 in Poughkeepsie, NY to the late John and Cathleen Klank Rowe. She was married to William Lane He died on November 26, 1980. Violet had worked in Environmental Services at the Kingston Hospital, before her retirement in the late 70's. She is survived by Sons, William H. Lane, Jr; and his wife Sandra of Poughkeepsie, NY; John J. Lane, Seattle, WA, 7 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren. Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston. Services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 am. Burial in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.

Joseph M. Vincitore
Born: July 19, 1918
Died: November 09, 2014
Joseph M. Vincitore, 96, of Vero Beach, FL passed way peacefully on November 9, 2014 after a long and vibrant life. He was born July 19, 1918 in Poughkeepsie to Michele and Marta (Roglieri) Vincitore. He was an alumnus of Poughkeepsie High School, The Julliard School of Music, and the U.S. Army Music School for bandleaders.
On January 5, 1942, Joseph married Mary Alice King in Monticello, NY. Together they raised nine children, traveled the world, and enjoyed 66 years of marriage. His beloved wife predeceased him on June 20, 2008.
Joseph served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1941 to 1946 as a Warrant Officer and Conductor of the 374th Army Air Force Band.
In 1946, Joseph purchased the Poughkeepsie Music Shop, and later reinvented it as Vincitore's Pianos and Organs, which is still operated by his children Michael, Jon, Andrew and Marta. Joseph and Mary retired to Vero Beach FL in 1980.
He was a lifetime member and 3rd degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #5629. Whether he was performing in front of a crowd (he was an accomplished saxophone and clarinet player), conducting fellow musicians, or enlightening students
or customers, music remained a central force throughout his life and he shared his passion for it with everyone he encountered. Running the family business was always driven by his love of music and his wish to share the joys of making music with everyone. For him a life without music was incomplete.
He leaves behind a large, loving family for whom he was a great inspiration on how to live a rich, full life. He is survived by his children Mary Jo (John) Deans, Michael (Rose) Vincitore, Jon (Kathy) Vincitore, Allison (Robert) Hill, Paula Vincitore, Paige (Paul) Fies, Andrew Vincitore and Marta (William) Yeoman. Also surviving is one sister, Jane Scivolette, 21 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was also predeceased by his daughter Susan Renk and three sisters – Jesse Calio, Kay Chiriatti, and Lee Pundt.
Calling hours will take place Friday, November 14th from 4pm-8pm at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 218 Mill Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Wheelchair entrance is located in the rear of the funeral home off Vassar Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 15th 9:30 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Poughkeepsie, NY with burial to follow with military honors at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Helen's Catholic Church, 2085 Tallahassee Ave., Vero Beach, Fl, 32960.

Steve Malafy, Sr.
MILAN, NY - Steve Malafy Sr., 89 of Morehouse Lane in Milan, NY died on Saturday July 5, 2008 at the Kingston Hospital, Kingston NY. He was born on September 10, 1918 in Woodhaven, NY the son of the late Samuel and Ursula Malafy. Mr. Malafy had been employed as a butcher in and around the New York City area for many years. He served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army and survived the Battle of Monte Cassino. Mr. Malafy was also a survivor of the Artificial Famine and Genocide instigated by Soviet leader Joseph Stalin that occurred from 1932 – 1933 in the Ukraine. This man made famine resulted in the deaths of between 7 and 10 million people, mostly Ukranians. Survivors include his three sons, David Malafy of Tunnel Hill, GA; Steve Malafy of Rhinebeck and Joseph Malafy of Milan. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Andrew, Lindsey, Samuel and Hannah, a nephew, Daniel Malafy along with other nieces and nephews in the Ukraine. Mr. Malafy was predeceased by his wife, Anna (Rotko) Malafy on October 23, 2005. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 9, 2008 at 10 AM from the Dapson – Chestney Funeral Home, 51 West Market St in Rhinebeck, NY. Friends are invited and may call on Tuesday July 8, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be held in the Rhinebeck Cemetery.

Helen J. Ramnitz
DELMAR: Helen. J. Ramnitz, 79, of Delmar and formerly of Poughkeepsie, NY died Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland, NY. Born in Poughkeepsie on August 10, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Mary (Rickes) Ostrander. Mrs. Ramnitz was a 1946 graduate of Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park, NY. Mrs. Ramnitz was a medical assistant for several Poughkeepsie area physicians and was also a charter member of the Poughkeepsie Medical Group. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Delmar. Mrs. Ramnitz is survived by her husband, Frank C. Ramnitz, her daughter, Debra J. Paguet of Delmar and her granddaughter, Kathleen DeMichele of Delmar. Relatives and friends may call at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar on Tuesday, July 8, 2008, from 5 to 8 PM . Entombment services will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Helen's name may be sent to the American Lung Association of New York State, 8 Mountianview Avenue, Albany, NY 12205.

Virginia M. Piccolo
Born: December 05, 1928
Died: June 26, 2015
Virginia M. Piccolo, 86, of Poughkeepsie and Hyde Park, NY passed away Friday, June 26th at The Renaissance Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center. She was born December 5, 1928 in Poughkeepsie, daughter of the late Harry Rose and Florence Hasbrouck. Virginia graduated from Franklin Roosevelt High School class of 1947, and entered Vassar Hospital School of Nursing in 1948 to become an RN, graduating in 1950. She worked in the Emergency Clinic at Vassar for several years and became head nurse of Emergency Room and Clinic. Virginia married Mario Piccolo at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in 1953. He passed away in 2002. She is survived by her son Stephen Mark Piccolo, her sister Shirley Hansen(Va), and many nieces and nephews. Her brother Gordon Rose predeceased her in 1986. Virginia was a member of St. Pauls Church. The family would like to send a big thank you to the staff of Renaissance Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center for their loving care. Funeral arrangements are private.

Vincent Cavaleri
PAWLING - Vincent P. Cavaleri, 83, a life-long resident of Pawling, NY, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie, NY. Son of the late Paul and Catherine (Santamaria) Cavaleri, Vince was born in Brooklyn on September 19, 1924. He proudly served his country in the US Army in the 52nd Field Artillery Battalion during WWII. After the war, he came to Pawling, and married the former Antoinette Milazzo in St. John's Church. Vince owned and operated the Pawling Liquor Store on East Main Street for 40 years. His loving wife, Ann, predeceased him on October 13, 1990. Vince was a long-time member of St. John's Church, a 50+ year member of the Knight's of Columbus and the Pawling Fire Department, a 4th Degree Knight in the Poughkeepsie Assembly Knights of Columbus, and a member of the VFW and the HaslerKamp Post American Legion. Vince is survived by his daughter, Kathryn Kraft and her husband, Tom, of Poughquag; his sister, Mary Conti and her husband, John, of Pawling; his sister-in-law, Bess Hendricks, of Poughkeepsie; his uncle, Frank Cavaleri and his wife, Sue, of Bedford Hills; grandchildren, Victoria and Thomas Kraft of Poughquag; nieces Mary Jane Murphy and her husband, Tom, of New Milford, CT, Joann Kane and her husband, John, of Poughkeepsie, and Denise Tierney and her husband, Vince, of Pleasant Valley; several great- nieces and nephews, cousins, and many, many friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Vince is predeceased by a sister, Amedea, brother-in-law, Jim Hendricks, in- laws, Josephine and Vito Milazzo, and great-nephew, James Davey. Friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, Wednesday, July 9th from 5-9 PM. The American Legion will conduct a service at 7 PM, the Knights of Columbus at 7:30 PM, and the Fire Department at 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM at St. John's Church, Pawling. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.

Sean Kieran Cotter

Sean Kieran Cotter, of Highland, NY, born on August 9, 1991 passed away on Thursday February 5, 2015. His parents Neil and Kelly Cotter and siblings Jillian, Joe, and Fallon remember his smile and how it lit up our lives and all who knew Sean. His fiancé Tim Burns loved the way he danced to his own tune and put everyone else's needs in front of his. He was the epitome of the perfect partner and can never be replaced.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Wednesday, February 11th from 6pm-9pm at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 38 Main Street, Highland, NY 12528. A Mass will be held Thursday, February 12th 10:00 am at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Highland, NY. Burial will be private.
