Anthony Sieredzinski
PAWLING - Anthony J. Sieredzinski, 81, a long time resident of Pawling, NY, passed away at home in Palm Coast on June 17, 2008. Anthony was born on August 6, 1926 in Plainfield, NJ to Joseph & Helen (Mankowicz) Sieredzinski. He graduated from The Bronx High School of Science and was a champion in the Low Hurdles. He graduated from Panzer College in East Orange, NJ. He was an Administrator in Special Education in the State School System in Wassaic, NY. He retired to Palm Coast in 1989 and was active in the American Legion, Lions, VFW, Elks, and German American Club. Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 59 years, Eleanor. He was predeceased by a daughter, Toni Ann Kucharski who leaves a son, Jason Kucharski and his wife, Chrissy, of Longwood, FL. He also leaves a son, Joseph and his wife, Mary, of Jacksonville, FL; two daughters, Karen Sieredzinski of Poughquag and Theresa Simone and her husband, Tony, of Hopewell Junction; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 18, 2008, 10:00AM at St. John's Cemetery, Pawling under the direction of Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tides Family Services, 215 Washington St., West Warwick, RI 02893.

David R. Smallwood, Sr
POUGHKEEPSIE - David R. Smallwood, Sr., 84, of Poughkeepsie, died Monday, July 14, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He worked at a box factory in North Carolina and for Castro Convertibles in Jamaica, NY. A local resident for 19 years, he also resided in Springfield Garden, Long Island. Mr. Smallwood was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Poughkeepsie. Born Nov. 8, 1923 in Windsor, NC, he was the son of the late Richard and Nancy Hymon Bond Smallwood. In 1947 he married Thelma Holley of Poughkeepsie. Survivors include two sons, David Richard Smallwood, Jr. of NC, and Walter Linwood Smallwood, Sr. of Poughkeepsie; two sisters, Pollie Capehart of Woodside, NY, and Annie Williams of Edenton, NC; aunt, Mary Jane Smallwood of Maryland; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three sisters, Betsy Crooms, Panary Outlaw, and Joyce Allen and by a brother, Willie Robert Smallwood, who had resided in New Jersey. Calling hours will be held Friday, July 18, 2008 from 10-11am at Beulah Baptist Church, 92 Catherine St., Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am at the church.Burial will be in New Paltz Rural Cemetery. Arrangements by John H. Darrow of Joseph J. Darrow, Sr. Funeral Home, Inc., Poughkeepsie, NY.

Arnold Smith
LAGRANGEVILLE - Arnold D. "Smitty" Smith, 92, of Clove Valley, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 after a short illness. Born in Stormville on September 27, 1915, he was the son of the late Ira and Anna Smith. On July 6, 1940, he married Gladys Bruleigh. She predeceased him on August 31, 1999. He is survived by one daughter, Susan S. Kniffen and her husband Arthur E. Kniffen of LaGrangeville. Arnold was employed by the Clove Valley Rod and Gun Club for 33 years, and later worked for the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, retiring in 1978. He loved animals, birds, and wildlife. He was also an avid fisherman and charter member of the Union Vale Fire Co. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 19 at the Valley Bible Fellowship Church, 1875 Clove Road, LaGrangeville. Rev. Jim Wickstead will officiate. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Clove Cemetery, 89 Shaughnessy Rd., LaGrangeville, NY 12540. Arrangements are under the direction of McHoul Funeral Home Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.

Rose Mary Bennett
POUGHKEEPSIE - Rose Mary Bennett, 83 years old and a lifetime resident of Poughkeepsie, New York fell asleep in death on Tuesday July 15, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Rose was born on March 1, 1925 to Gordon and Elizabeth Thomas. In 1962, she married Charles Bennett. She worked at Hudson River Psychiatric Center as a Therapy Aide until she retired in 1983. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Poughkeepsie and the Poughkeepsie Neighborhood Club. Rose was a loving, generous, kind hearted person who always put others first and herself last. In her younger days she enjoyed sewing, doing crossword puzzles and she loved the challenge of the Rubik's Cube. Rose had a big heart and a special love for children. Anyone who knew Rose knows she always had children around her whether they were hers or someone else's, she loved them just the same. She is survived by a Daughter, Janeen Bennett; Son, Bryan Bradley; Granddaughter, Setishia Johnson all of Poughkeepsie; One brother, John Thomas and his wife Dorothy of Queens, New York; Two sisters, Margaret Keith and Estelle McKinney of Poughkeepsie; A faithful friend, Bertha Lanchester, as well as a whole host of relatives and friends are left behind to cherish her memory. She is predeceased by her husband, Charles Bennett, daughter, Yvette Bennett, brother's William, Robert and Norman Thomas and her sister's Isabelle Jackson and Alberta McKinney. Visitation will be Monday July 21, 2008 10:00am 3/8 11:00am at Beulah Baptist Church 92 Catherine Street Poughkeepsie, New York. Service will begin at 11:00am at the church. Reverend Jessie V. Bottoms, officiating. Entombment will be at the Community Mausoleum in the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, New York 12601. Rhodes Funeral Homes, 43 Fairview Avenue, Poughkeepsie, New York 12601 entrusted with professional arrangements.

Elizabeth H.J.W. Conrad
HOPEWELL JUNCTION, NY - Elizabeth H.J.W. Conrad, 79 years old, a forty-five year resident of Hopewell Junction, died peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 17, 2008. She was born November 19, 1928 in Groenlo, Holland and was the daughter of the late Gerhardus J. and Gerarda P.J. Verheuvel. Elizabeth was born and raised in Holland and was the youngest of three children. Her brothers, Geert and Franc predeceased her. On June 1, 1957, she married George Conrad and began their family. Elizabeth and George had three children together, Barbara, Gregory and Christopher. Elizabeth's never-ending commitment to her family and unconditional love will be forever missed. Elizabeth's career in the workplace included 26 years as a master seamstress and manager of Krakower Fabrics in Poughkeepsie. She was a communicant of St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction. She loved flowers and was an avid gardener. She is predeceased by her husband of 49 years, George, who died October 29, 2007. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother and is survived by her two sons, Gregory Conrad and his wife, Athena, of Hopewell Junction and Christopher Conrad and his wife, Priscilla, of Hopewell Junction; her daughter, Barbara Conrad of Millbrook; five grandchildren, Jason, Jonathan, Elisabeth, Alexander, Priscilla and Samantha; and two sister-in-laws in Holland, Rosalie and Agnes. She will be greatly missed by her family and all of those who knew her. Graveside services will be held for Elizabeth on Monday, July 21st at 11 a.m. at St. Denis Cemetery, Hopewell Junction. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to Sisters of the Oblate to the Blessed Trinity at St. Aloysius, P.O. Box 98, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Homes, Inc., 900 Rt. 82, Hopewell Junction.

Marion Crocco
WAKE FOREST, NC - Marion M. Crocco, 88, died on July 15, 2008 at Wake Medical Center in North Carolina. Mrs. Crocco was a lifelong resident of the Poughkeepsie area until moving to Wake Forest in 2004. Born on September 21, 1919 in Seymour, Connecticut, she was the daughter of William Butler and Katherine Costello Butler. Marion was married for 51 years to Salvatore M. Crocco, who predeceased her in 1990. Marion is survived by four children: Carole Rydell of Hyde Park, NY; Patricia Graf of Youngsville, NC; William Crocco of Youngsville, NC; Edward Crocco of Port St. Lucie, FL; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Carl Butler, and sister, Roberta Butler, both of Beacon. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Katie Crocco in 2007. Marion was a homemaker and worked part-time at IBM, Poughkeepsie. She volunteered in the gift shop at Vassar Brothers Medical Center for several years. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 Pm, Sunday, July 20, 2008 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Monday, July 21st at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie. Rev. James A. Garisto will officiate. Burial will follow in the family plot in Union Cemetery of Hyde Park. Memorial Gifts may be made to CCACA (Connecticut Campaign Against Cooley's Anemia), 356 Augusta Drive, Orange, CT 06477.

John T. Knaus, Jr.
SPRING HILL, FL - John T. Knaus, Jr., 70, of Spring Hill, FL, passed peacefully at his home with his family present on June 9, 2008. Formerly from Red Hook, NY, John retired full time to Spring Hill in 2002. Born in Rhinebeck, NY, June 13, 1937, he was the son of the late John Knaus, Sr. and Eleanor Rockefeller Knaus. John grew up in Ridgewood, NY, and attended St. Bridget's School, Queens Vocational, and graduated in 1955 from Brooklyn Automotive. He served in the United States Army (1956 - 1958) in Panama and received an Honorable Discharge. John married Helene Westhoff, March 2, 1957. She predeceased him in February 1985. His son, John W. predeceased him in May 2007. In April 1961, John started working for John Arborio in Poughkeepsie, NY, and worked under International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 106. He retired in 2002. John enjoyed camping and many outdoor activities with his family and friends. Since retirement, he traveled to many areas. He had a special passion for Tennessee and the Smokey Mountains. He toured Europe and visited his father's birthplace in Austria. John enjoyed attending car shows and "Cruise-Ins" with his restored 1955 Chevy Bel Air. He was passionate to participate in car show fundraisers when he knew others would benefit. He modestly filled a room with his winning trophies. John was proud of his family and felt blessed by his many friends. He is survived by his daughters and their families: Joann Grazier, husband Craig and children Erik & Michele of Shokan, NY, Laura Warren and son Matthew of Wappingers Falls, NY, and Ann-Marie Cochran and husband Darren of West Yarmouth, MA. His granddaughter, Megan Knaus, of Rhinebeck, NY, and son-in-law, Doug Warren, of Red Hook, NY. His best friend, and second love, Shirley Robinson, Lebanon, TN. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 19th, at Burnett & White Funeral Home, 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook, NY. Committal will be in St. Sylvia's Cemetery, Tivoli. Friends may call that the funeral home prior to the service on Saturday from 11AM to 1PM. Memorial donations may be made in John's memory to Hernando Pasco Hospice, 12260 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, FL 34613. John and his family were greatly blessed by Hospice during his illness.
