Paul J. Parrella
RHINEBECK - Paul J. Parrella, 48, a of Rhinebeck, NY, died July 24, 2008 at home. A lifetime local resident, he had been the owner of Stump 'N Wood Recycling in Rhinebeck. He enjoyed his work and snowmobiling. Born Feb. 27, 1960 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of Pasquale and Clara Perini Parrella. On Sept. 5, 2004, in Rhinebeck, he married Heather M. Lawton, who survives at home. In addition to his wife, survivors include his mother, Clara Parrella, Poughkeepsie; brother, Michael Parrella, Staatsburg; brother and sister-in-law, Stephen F. and Roxanne Parrella, Red Hook; sisters, Patricia Eighmie and Susan M. Parrella, Poughkeepsie; several nieces and nephews, two great nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Pasquale Parrella, maternal grandparents, Oreste and Elvira Perini and paternal grandparents, Faustino and Consiglia Parrella. Calling hours will be held Monday, July 28, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital, Attn: Memorial Donations Dept., 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Dorothy Vivian Smith
OSSINING - Dorothy Vivian Smith of Ossining died July 22, 2008. She was 93. She was born October 10, 1914 to Leslie and Edith Smith. Dorothy worked for Empire City Savings Bank in NYC for 30 years. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Moore of Scottsdale, AZ, nephew, James (Virginia) Smith, great-nephew, Kenneth (Grace) Smith, great-niece, Kimberly (Aaron) Caldwell and their children. She was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Smith. She will be reposing Tuesday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Leach & Thomas, Inc. Funeral Home, 32 State St., Ossining. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, 10AM at Holy Innocents Anglican Church, Briarcliff, Bishop John Herzog officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery.

Frank Wilbur Dunham
PAWLING - Frank Wilbur Dunham, 90, a long-time resident of Pawling, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2008 at The Kent, Kent, CT. Son of Wilbur E. and Mary (Hare) Dunham, he was born on February 8, 1918 in Lexington, NY. On May 2, 1948, he married the former Greta Anderson in Poughkeepsie; she predeceased him on March 30, 2005. Mr. Dunham worked at the Heinchon=2 0Dairy in Pawling as a dairyman and foreman for many years. As a young man, he was very active in 4-H, and enjoyed gardening. Survivors include three daughters, Irene Harrington and her husband Frank of Pawling, Mary Ballard and her husband Tom of Holmes, and Suzanne Dunham of Hudson, NY; five grandchildren, Ricky Spinney, Jr, Francis Harrington, Samantha Bolson, Trevor Ballard, and Angel Long Hicks; and 20 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Amanda Ballard. Friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, Monday, July 28th 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, at 11 AM, with the Rev. Mark Allan officiating. Burial will follow in South Dover Cemetery, Wingdale, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, ATTN: Tribute Gifts, Church Street Station, New York, NY 10008-0780.

Arthur F. Dunnigan
FISHKILL - Arthur F. "Big Art" Dunnigan, 85, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2008 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. Born February 20, 1923 in the Bronx, he was the son of the late John and Wilhemina Ippich Dunnigan. On October 5, 1946 in the Bronx, he married Claire J. Decker. Arthur served in WWII from 1943 1945 with the US Navy in the AsiaticPacific Theatre with the Seabees. He retired as a foreman after 22 years with the NYC Sanitation and then went on to work for Con Edison at Indian Point retiring from there in 1986. After retiring, he worked with the former Fishkill National Bank as a courier. Arthur was also a member of the Wiccopee Fire Company. Survived by his wife, Claire J. Dunnigan at home; his children, Arthur G. Dunnigan and his late wife Angela of the Bronx; Lorayne Pulcastro and her husband John of Beacon and Wayne Dunnigan and his wife Eleanor of Wallkill; grandchildren, Lisa Hayden and her husband Danny of Wallkill; Danielle Dunnigan and her fiancé Joe Bonsignore of the Bronx; Michael Pulcastro and his wife Danielle of Beacon; Arthur C. Dunnigan and his wife Cally of the Bronx; Joseph Dunnigan of Wallkill; Jessica Dunnigan of Marlboro and John Dunnigan of Wallkill; great granddaughter, Alyssa Hayden of Wallkill along with nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and daughter in law, Arthur was predeceased by his sister, Evelyn Dunnigan and brothers John and George Dunnigan. Calling hours will be Monday, July 28th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Homes, Inc., 1028 Main Street, Fishkill, NY 12524. Funeral services will be held 9:30 am on Tuesday, July 29th at the funeral home with Rev. Rosemary Hensley officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 45 Reade Place, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

James Carl McAvoy, Sr.
WASSAIC, NY - James Carl McAvoy Sr., longtime resident of Wassaic, N.Y. passed away July 26, 2008 at "The Kent" in Kent, CT. James was born in Sharon, CT. December 11, 1938 to James and Grace (Silvernail) McAvoy. He attended Sharon and Housatonic Valley Regional High Schools. At age 17, he enlisted in the army doing basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey, advanced training at Fort Lewis, Washington completing tour of duty in Alaska. He worked for TriWall Container and Weyerhauser Co. in Wassaic, N.Y. for about 37 years until the companies closed, then Taconic DDSO until he retired. Jim loved hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. On Sept. 2, 1960 he married Bernice "June" Valyou who survives at home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons James McAvoy Jr. and wife Sue, Copake, N.Y., a brother Robert McAvoy and wife Barbara of St. Albans, Maine. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Gene. Funeral services will be celebrated on Tuesday at 1pm at the Kenny Funeral Home 41 Main Street Sharon. Burial will follow at the Ellsworth Cemetery. Memorial contributions to The Kent.

Shirley June Middleton
STORMVILLE - Shirley J. Middleton, loving mother, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, she was 79. Born, June 3, 1929 in Stormville she was the daughter of the late; Homer C. and Lillian E. Smith Brill. Shirley was a lifelong Stormville resident who spent the last three years enjoying her time with her new friends at Wingate at Dutchess. She was a secretary for many years at Bennett College and Brighton Steel in Fishkill. Then she met and married the love of her life, James E. Middleton. The two were married in St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction on June 2, 1963. On December 22, 2003 Mr. Middleton predeceased Shirley. Shirley is survived by her daughter Julie L. Middleton and her husband John D. Spindler of West Hurley, NY; sisters and brothers in law, Alice and Pete Kabat of Beverly Hills, FL, Annie Middleton of Albany, Ronald Crosier of South Glens Falls; a special niece, Karen Kabat of Ellicott City, MD; several nieces and nephews; lifelong friends Jeanne Keppel of Stormville, Alyce and Dick Cole of Poughkeepsie. Calling hours will be from 7-9 on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Homes, Inc., 1028 Main Street, Fishkill. A celebration of Shirley's life will be on Wednesday July 30 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Shirley herself said that she hopes no one will be somber and wear dark colors to her funeral; "when there is so much to celebrate". On Tuesday and Wednesday, we won't be wearing black we will wear light joyous colors to remind us of the joy Shirley is now experiencing in heaven. Thank you, Shirley for reminding us. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Avenue, Hyde Park, NY 12538.

Thomas R. Reynolds
CIRCLEVILLE - Thomas R. Reynolds, 66, of Circleville, OH, died July 26, 2008 in Berger Hospital. He was born March 29, 1942 in Peebles, OH, the son of the late John and Esta (Mitchell) Reynolds. He had worked for New York State Dept. of Corrections as a corrections officer. He is survived by his wife, Jane (Fortune) Reynolds; sons, David (Gretchen) Moran of Columbus and Andrew Moran of NY; grandsons, Perrin and Gareth Moran; brother, Jim (Jan) Reynolds of San Diego, CA; sisters, Deann Arnold of Columbus and Nancy (Bill) Stephens of Queen Creek, AZ; nephews, Rocco, John, Mike and David Evangelista; niece, Maria Mins and great nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 8:00 p.m. Wednesday July 30, 2008 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Denis Cemetery, Hopewell Junction, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to Bradley Cancer Center.
