MARRONE, NICHOLAS J.

Nicholas J. Marrone, a long time Hastings-on-Hudson resident died February 25, 2010. Mr. Marrone was born in Italy to Louis and Rose Marrone and has lived in Hastings since 1962. He served in the US Army during WW II. On September 17, 1950 he married Lucille DeVito in the Church of the Annunciation in New York. Mr. Marrone was a butcher for Gristedes Brothers Grocery for many years. He last worked in their White Plains store. He retired in 1990. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of the Church of St. Matthew, R.C., a member of the Elks Club in Scarsdale. He enjoyed gardening, golf and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Marrone is survived by his beloved wife Lucille, loving sons Nicholas (Susan) and Stephen along with six loving grandchildren. Mass of the Resurrection Tuesday 11:00AM Church of St. Matthew, R.C. MATTHEWS, ROSEMARY

Rosemary V. Matthews (nee Maskara) of Yonkers died on Saturday February 27, 2010 at age 70. She was born on August 30, 1939 to George and Mary (Boretsky) Maskara in Yonkers where she was raised and graduated from Holy Trinity School and Commerce H. S. Mrs. Matthews worked as the operations supervisor for Hudson Valley Bank for over 24 years and was currently employed at the time of her death. On May 31, 1966 she married George Matthews in Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, he survives living in Yonkers. Besides being a parishioner of Holy Trinity she was also a member of the Catholic Slovak Committee. Besides her husband George, Rosemary is survived by her 2 sons, George (Jamie) Matthews and Joseph (Cristina) Matthews and 2 granddaughters Ava Rose and Kelly Marie, and her sister Lorraine (Michael) Kmetz. She was predeceased by her 4 brothers Gerald, Richard, Edwin and George Maskara and her sister Barbara Pidoto. Visiting hours will be in the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on both Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in Most Holy Trinity Church on Thursday March 4th at 10AM. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Donations may be made to Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Trinity Plaza, Yonkers, NY. MORAN, VIRGINIA "MUZZY/NANNY"

Virginia "Muzzy/Nanny" Moran, 85, of Suffern, NY, formerly of New City, NY, died at Good Samaritan Hospital on February 27, 2010. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to Charles and Elsie (Ruff) Eve. Her beloved husband; Edward Moran predeceased her in 1994. She is survived by daughter; Patricia Westervelt and her husband Thomas of Thiells, NY, son; Michael Moran and his wife Susan of Tomkins Cove, NY, son; Timothy Moran and his wife Mary Ann of Chestnut Ridge, NY and daughter; Kathleen Moran of Warwick, NY. Virginia was an adoring grandmother to Tom, Meghan and Colleen Westervelt; Melissa (Moran) & Jeff Angus, Kate, Michael, and Matthew Moran; Kimberly and Christopher Schultz, Joseph Correa; and her beloved great-grandson; James. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home in Suffern on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass will be held for Virginia on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern with the interment at Seamanville Cemetery in Monroe, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your preferred charity in Virginia's memory.

SALMAGGI, PAUL J.

Paul J. Salmaggi, 71, of Tappan, on Saturday, February 27, 2010. Beloved husband of the late Marion (nee Bartal). Loving father of Donna Salamon and her husband Anthony of Rockaway, NJ and Deborah Mastropolo and her family of Rockaway, NY. Dear brother of Ferris Salmaggi of Long Island and Mary Ann Roulk of FL. Mr. Salmaggi was an engineer for Bendix in Teterboro, NJ before retiring and was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 2320 in Piermont. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday 11:00 AM at St. Anthony's RC Church, Northvale, NJ with interment to follow at Tappan Cemetery, Tappan. Visiting hours are Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Anthony R. Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale (845-359-2323).

VENTAROLA, MARY ROBASCO

Mary Robasco Ventarola, 92, passed away February 26, 2010. Mary was the loving wife of the late Joseph Ventarola and devoted mother of Dennis (Kathleen) and Ronald (Edna) Ventarola.She was the cherished grandmother of Jessica Kane, Timothy and Kaitlin Ventarola.Also surviving is her sister Lucy Germany and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, March 1, 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 11:00AM Tuesday, March 2, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.Interment immediately following service. BOWLES, CHARLES N.

Charles N. Bowles of Pearl River, NY, a resident for 37 years, died Monday, April 13, 2009 at his home. He was 69. Mr. Bowles worked as a restaurant manager for Schrafft's in New York City. Mr. Bowles was born December 28, 1939 in Bronx, NY to Charles and Anna Bowles. Locally, he was a member of the Pearl River Seniors A and B Club. He is survived by his two daughters Laura and John Cassetta of Fredericksburg, VA and Denise and John Sil ver of Rockaway, NJ; three grandchildren Christopher, Lauren and Alexandra and sister Marilyn and husband Daniel Angley of Pearl River, NY. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Joan (1990). Visiting is Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc. A service will be held at 8:30 PM. WILLIAM L. JOHNSON,

William L. Johnson died Feb. 12 in Easton, MD. He was the former general counsel of the Otis Elevator Company. After graduating from Princeton, he served in the Marines in Korea, rising to Captain. He married Marjory B. Hughes (a granddaughter of the late Chief Justice Charles Evans Hughes), and graduated from Columbia Law School. Mr. Johnson lived for more than 30 years in Irvington. He served several terms as village trustee, as well as on the board of Phelps Hospital, the Parents Association of the Masters School, and as President of the Underwood Club in the Adirondacks. He was a member of the St. Andrews Golf Club, and the Riverdale and the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Clubs. He retired to Oxford, MD where he lived for more than 15 years, before recently moving to Easton. In addition to his wife, Mr. Johnson is survived by three daughters: Susan J. McLean, Helen J. Williamson, Marjory J. Reagan, and 8 grandchildren.
