Edward J. Vishnesky
TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE - Edward J. Vishnesky, 69, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, formerly of the Albany area, died August 4, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Mr. Vishnesky worked for IBM East Fishkill in the Micro Chip Division, retiring on Dec. 31, 1994. After his retirement he worked for Phillips Semi Conductors in Fishkill. He served in the United States Army and was a member of Holy Trinity Church. He loved the NY Mets, NY Giants, Horse Racing and also loved to travel and see the world. He was born Oct. 28, 1938 in Albany, NY to Joseph and Bertha Schultz Vishnesky. Survivors include sister and brother-in-law, Jennie and Dominick Mariani of Vooresville, NY; sister and brother-in-law, Florence and George McGloine of Saratoga Springs, NY; brother, Thomas Vishnesky of Poughkeepsie; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, James Powers. Calling hours will be Aug. 7, from 6pm to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Aug. 8, 9:45am, at Holy Trinity Church. Burial will be at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Ave., Poughkeepsie.

Michael William "Boo" Cody
PAWLING - Michael William "Boo" Cody, age 11, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at the Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY. A resident of Pawling, NY, he was born in Carmel, NY on August 15, 1996, and was the son of Patrick and Lisa (Predham) Cody. He was a student in the Pawling School System, and was attending the Green Chimney Summer Camp program. Michael played Little League on the Yankees team, and loved nature, wrestling, and animals, especially his dog, Diesel, and bird, Yagao. He was also an avid fan of the NY Yankees and the Buffalo Bills. Michael is survived by his parents, and his brother, Patrick "P.J." Cody, all at home; his paternal grandparents, John and Diane Cody of Doldgville, NY; his maternal grandfather, Patrick J. Predham, Jr. of Pawling, NY; and many, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Ann Clair Predham. Friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY, Thursday 7-9 PM and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 9th at 10 AM at St. John's Church, Pawling, NY. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, the Cody family is accepting donations in Michael's memory at the Key Bank, 3 West Main Street, Pawling, NY 12564.

Raymond Canfield Corey
POUGHKEEPSIE Raymond Canfield Corey, 90, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, died Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at VA Hudson Valley Health Care System at Castle Point. Born in Poughkeepsie on March 10, 1918, he was the son of Herbert and Alida Canfield Corey. Ray was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Degrees in Organ and Choral Conducting from Juilliard School of Music. Mr. Corey served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII from 1942-1945. On May 19, 1957 at St. James Methodist Church in Kingston, he married Heather Harrison. Along with his wife Heather, they were the proprietors of the Poughkeepsie Music Shop for 39 years. Mr. Corey built the organs for both St. James Methodist Church in Kingston and First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Poughkeepsie and was a well known music director and organist for numerous area churches over 75 years. He played in several dance bands over the years. He was conductor for the IBM Chorus and accompanied several productions for the Children's Community Theater in Poughkeepsie. Mr. Corey was the last organist to play the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ at the Bardavon for silent movies in the 1930's. He along with Dr. Herman Wolff cofounded the Lunch and Listen Program at First Lutheran Church in Poughkeepsie. Mr. Corey was a lifelong member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 238. Ray is survived by his wife, Heather who resides at home; his daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Christopher Hoffman and their daughter, Loren Alicia of Poughkeepsie; his son and daughter-in-law, Raymond K. "Tiger" and Colleen Corey and their son, Paul Raymond of Poughkeepsie. He was predeceased by his brother, William Corey in 1960. Visitation will be Friday 2-4 and 7-9 pm and Saturday 12noon - 1pm at Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will be held 1 pm Saturday from the funeral home with Rev. David Jolly presiding. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Hyde Park at the family's convenience. Memorial donations may be made in Raymond's memory to the Raymond Corey Organ Scholarship Fund, c/o Cheryl Hoffman, 286 Manchester Rd., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. com.

Lucille C. Gmeiner
RHINEBECK - Lucille C. Gmeiner, 88, of Rhinebeck, NY died Sunday, July 20, 2008 at Mary Health of the Sick in Newbury Park, CA. She and her husband Paul owned and operated the United Smoke Shop on the corner in Rhinebeck for many years. They retired 1986. Lucille was a member of Women in The Military, the Northern Dutchess Hospital Mother's Club and Church of the Good Shepherd in Rhinebeck. A veteran of World War II, Lucille served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1945. Born February 8, 1920 in Cohoes, NY, she was the daughter of the late Camille & Aurore LaCasse. Lucille married Paul Gmeiner on June 1, 1945 at the Great Lakes Naval Station. Paul predeceased her on Oct. 1, 2002. She is survived by her two sons: Donald Gmeiner and wife Terry of Wesley Chapel, FL and Raymond and wife Dominica Gmeiner of West Lake, CA, a brother: Raymond LaCasse of West Hempstead, NY, four grandchildren, and three great granddaughters and two great grandson's. A brother, Robert LaCasse, predeceased her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM on Saturday, Aug. 9th, at the Church of the Good Shepherd, E. Market St., Rhinebeck. The Rev. Jeffrey R. Galens will officiate. Burial with military honors will be at Rhinebeck Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Burnett & White Funeral Homes 91 E. Market St., Rhinebeck, NY.

Patricia J. Kelly
WAPPINGERS FALLS - Patricia J. Kelly, 59, a resident of Wappingers Falls, for 26 years and formerly of Morton, IL and the Bronx, died on Monday, August 4, 2008 at her home surrounded by her family. Born in the Bronx on March 25, 1949, she was the daughter of Michael and Helen McGinn Kelly. She was employed as an instructor at Dutchess Community College until her retirement in 2007. Pat was a parishioner of St. Columba Church, Hopewell Junction where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was a volunteer for Hospice and enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts. On October 21, 1972 in the Bronx, she married John P. Kelly who survives at home. She is also survived by her daughter, Eileen M. Kelly; her sister, Ann M. Kachur of Vernon, NJ; her brothers, Michael J. Kelly of Orefield, PA and Peter J. Kelly of Chesapeake, VA; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Malachy F. Kelly, in 1990. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 45 Reade Place, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

Francis "Patrick" Lahey
BEACON - Francis "Patrick" Lahey, age 55, of Beacon, NY, died on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, NY. Born in Cold Spring, NY on April 27, 1953, he is the son of Francis J. "Terry" Lahey and the late Joan (Matthews) Lahey. Mr. Lahey, a graduate of Alfred College, worked as a Regional Supervisor for the NYS Office of General Services in the Design and Construction Group. He was a Beacon resident for over 30 years and a parishioner of St Joachim/St. John parish in Beacon. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie S. (Walbridge) Lahey of the home address; one son, Khristopher M. Decker, of Buffalo, NY; one daughter, Kerry and Thomas Brady, of Stormville, NY; and one grandson, Ethan Patrick Brady. His father, Francis "Terry" Lahey, of Cold Spring, maternal Grandmother, Mary Matthews, of Cold Spring; four brothers, Terrance and Constance Lahey of Verbank, NY, Kevin and Amy Lahey of Garrison, NY, Joseph Lahey of London, England, and Matthew Lahey of Cold Spring; four sisters, Kathleen and Joseph Percacciolo of Cold Spring, Bridget and Joseph Immorlica of Newburgh, NY, Eileen and Todd Dahlia of Cold Spring, and Joanne and Anthony Percacciolo of Cold Spring; and 24 nieces and nephews also survive him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Our Lady of Loretto Church, 24 Fair Street, Cold Spring, NY, followed by interment at Cold Spring Cemetery. Friends may call at the Clinton Funeral Home, Cor. of Parrott and Pine Sts. (21 Parrott St.) Cold Spring, NY on Friday, August 8th from 2-4 and 79 pm. Donations may be made in Mr. Lahey's name to the American Cancer Society, 220 Route 6, Mahopac, NY 10541.

John E. Monahan
POUGHKEEPSIE - John E. Monahan, 87, a lifelong Poughkeepsie resident, died Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Vassar Bros. Medical Center. Mr. Monahan worked at Vassar College for twenty years, retiring in 1980. Prior to Vassar College, he was a clerk in a number of popular retail stores in Poughkeepsie. He proudly served in the United States Army, 338th Regiment of the 85th Infantry Division, in Africa, Sicily, and Italy during World War II. John received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Distinguished Unit Citation, and European Theatre Medal with four Battle Stars. Mr. Monahan enjoyed drawing, playing cards, watching his favorite television programs, and going for walks. He loved to spend summers in Hyde Park at the "pool parties" with his brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. Born in Poughkeepsie on February 24, 1921, he was the son of the late William and Ada Davis Monahan. Mr. Monahan is survived by a brother, Robert Monahan and wife, Candy, of Ocala, FL; seven nephews, Bryan Tobias of Staatsburg, Gregg Tobias of Oregon, Barry Tobias of Kentucky, Toby Tobias of Oregon, Andy Barca of Hyde Park, Gary Newkirk of LaGrange, and Robbie Monahan of Florida; two nieces, Sherry McInerny of North Carolina, and Deborah Kuber of Rochester; and many great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four sisters, Dorothy Zervos, Gertrude Tobias, Evelyn Monahan, and Verna Newkirk; and two brothers, William Monahan Jr., and James Monahan. Calling Hours will be from 4 to 7 pm, Friday, August 8, 2008 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park. A funeral service will be held at 6:30 pm during the calling hours. Cremation will follow. Graveside services and burial of his ashes with military honors will take place at 11 am on Monday, August 11th in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Foundation, 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
