Sara Martini
MIAMI, FL - Sara Martini, age 84, fell asleep with the Lord August 9, 2008. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be sorely missed by her husband, Tom, and her children, Eric, Kory Dubin (Jay), and Greg (Nancy). She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Regina, Alexander, Samantha, Grace and Joseph. She is also survived by her sister, Lillian Cullen of Poughkeepsie, NY. Just as Keats wrote, "A thing of beauty is a joy forever, " Sara will be remembered for her beauty, both inside and out. Services to be held Thursday 11 AM at St. Sophia's Cathedral, 2401 SW 3rd Ave., Miami, FL 33129. Patricia E. Racicot
EAST FISHKILL – Patricia E. Racicot, 53, a resident of Wappingers Falls for 28 years and formerly of Shrub Oak, died on Monday, August 11, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer. After receiving her nursing degree, Patricia pursued her career at Westchester Medical Center and Phelps Hospital Center. In 1994, she joined the Fishkill Health Related Center (now the Elant at Fishkill) as an evening charge nurse and then enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to take on the challenge of Client Services Liaison for the Long Term Home Health Care Program in 1996. She developed her own style of coordination for most of the services that the agency provides and was instrumental in the development of the LPN Model of Service for the LTHHCP. She was known to go above the call of duty ensuring that each client received the best care and attention that they deserved. Pat was nicknamed the "Soup Lady" because she often brought soup to the clients that she visited. She would also share vegetables from her garden with many homebound clients. To honor her dedication, quality and character, Pat was the recipient of the 2005 Home Care Association of New York State's Caring Award. Born in Mount Vernon on May 20, 1955, she was the daughter of Theodore and Lois Hjorth Voetsch. On June 19, 1976 in Shrub Oak, she married Thomas D. Racicot. In addition to her parents of Tivoli and her husband at home, she is also survived by her children: son, Christian; daughter, Brionne; and twins, Thomas C. and Corin; her brothers, Arthur Voetsch of Hudson, David Voetsch of Tivoli and Thomas Voetsch of Kingston; her sisters, Mary Sue Voetsch of LaGrange and Nancy Blank of Red Hook; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by entombment in the Community Mausoleum of Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Violet May Smith
CITY OF POUGHKEEPSIE - Violet May Smith, 78, of the City of Poughkeepsie, died Sunday, August 10, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker, a member of the Seniors's Club of Poughkeepsie, and loved to play bingo and travel. Born August 28, 1929 in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of Frank and Gladys Hopkins Simpson. On November 17, 1959 in the Town of Hyde Park, she married John D. Smith, who predeceased her on June 11, 1971. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda Sue and Richard Macintosh of Canton, OH; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Glen Dlugach of Bartlett, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Cheryl Smith of Canton, OH; son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Tina Smith of Marlboro, NY; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her brother, Joseph Simpson of Hudson; sister, Virginia Perry of Poughkeepsie; sister, Betty Mary of Hudson; she was predeceased by three brothers, Frank, Victor and Vincent Simpson. Calling hours will be from 6pm to 8pm, Tuesday, August 12, at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Dorothy T. Wegescheide
WAPPINGERS FALLS – Dorothy T. Wegescheide, 84, a resident of Wappingers Falls for 36 years and formerly of Flushing, died on Sunday, August 10, 2008 at the Ferncliff Nursing Home, Rhinebeck. Born in Manhattan on May 21, 1924, she was the daughter of Mario and Clara Nash Terenzio. She was employed as a legal secretary and bookkeeper for Atlantic Recording Company in New York City until her retirement in 1989. Dorothy was a parishioner of St. Columba Church, Hopewell Junction. On October 12, 1954 at St. Ann's Church in Flushing, Dorothy married Sylvester P. Wegescheide who predeceased her on July 18, 1999. She is survived by her sons, Richard A. Wegescheide and his wife, Clare of Wappingers Falls and Philip G. Wegescheide and his wife, Deborah of McHenry, IL; and her grandchildren, Paul Richard, Blair Marie, Sarah Ann and Mary Elizabeth. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., Office of Development, 1501 NW 9th Avenue/Bob Hope Road, Miami, Florida 33136-1494.

Gloria M. Mennella
BOCA RATON, FL - Gloria M. Mennella, 87 years old, formerly of Poughquag, died peacefully on August 5, 2008 at Hospice By The Sea in Boca Raton, FL. She was born May 9, 1921 in New York City and was the daughter of the late John Alexander and Mary Hoager Mennella. Gloria was a resident of Poughquag since 1953 and had been a communicant of St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction. She was also a member of the Italian Club. She was predeceased by her husband, David C. Schoentag, former Dutchess County Executive, in 1982. Gloria was a devoted mother and grandmother and is survived by two daughters, Gail A. Schoentag and her husband, Juan Flores, of FL and Davida C. Schoentag, of FL; two sons, David C. Schoentag of FL and Craig S. Anderson of Poughquag; a brother, John A. Mennella and his wife, Jackie, of FL and four grandchildren, Kaycie, David, Kristi and Michael; one great-grandson, Christian Anderson; a niece, Jill Mennella and a nephew, Jack Mennella. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for Gloria on Saturday, August 23rd at 10 a.m. at St. Denis Church, Hopewell Junction, followed by burial in Poughquag Methodist Church Cemetery, Poughquag. Lillian Irene LeMarquand Palmer
DENMARK, ME - Lillian Irene LeMarquand Palmer, 97, devoted wife, mother, grandmother & friend passed away August 11, 2008 in Bridgton, ME, surrounded by her children. She was born December 13, 1910 in Belle-Anse Gaspe Co., Quebec, Canada a daughter of James & Effie LeMarquand. Irene moved to the US in 1928 and became a citizen shortly thereafter. On August 1, 1934, Irene married Ernest R. Palmer in Yonkers, NY. They were married for 62 years until his death on July 20, 1996. Most of her life was spent in Poughkeepsie, NY. She worked as a Housemother at Vassar Brothers Hospital School of Nursing. Irene and her husband then retired to Denmark, ME where she enjoyed gardening, cooking and being part of he community. She belonged to the Oxford Rock and Mineral Club, AARP, Golden Oldies; Women's Guild of the Bridgton Congregational Church and attended the Bridgton Alliance Church. Surviving are her daughters, Faye Daley and her husband, Michael of Bridgton, ME; Fern Madison and her husband, William of Poughkeepsie, NY; her son, Ernest Palmer, Jr. and his wife, Melissa of Scotia, NY; her brother, Mel LeMarquand of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Syd and Cecil LeMarquand both of Canada. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Saturday, Aug. 16, at Hall Funeral Home, Inc., 165 Quaker Ridge Rd., Casco, ME. In lieu of flowers contribution may be made to the Bridgton Alliance Church @ 368 Harrison Rd., Bridgton, ME.

Frances Rossero
TOWN OF WAPPINGER - Frances Rossero, resident of the Town of Wappinger, entered into rest Sunday, August 10, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie. She was 92. She was born February 3, 1916 in Manhattan. Frances was married to Louis Rossero. Mr. Rossero preceded her in death in July of 1974. Frances was a parishioner of St. Frances of Rome Church in the Bronx before moving to this area. She was a former member of the Wappingers Falls Senior Citizens. Frances also had a deep love for her pets. Survivors include her son, John Rossero of Wappingers Falls; her grandchildren, Theresa Rossero, Louis Rossero and John Rossero, Jr.; her five great-grandchildren and her nephew, Michael Michelis. In addition to her husband of over thirty-five years, she was predeceased her brother, Frank and her sisters, Ella, Lilly and Josephine. Family will receive their friends on Thursday, August 14, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Friday, August 15 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains, New York.
