Robert E. Dorman
Robert E. Dorman, 51, of Bushnell Road, Mayfield, died Wednesday at home after being stricken.

He was born on Jan. 25, 1950 in Gloversville, the son of Carleton and Doris Loux Dorman. Mr. Dorman was educated in Mayfield schools.

He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a former member of the Army National Guard.

Mr. Dorman worked for Callanan Industries, Pattersonville ,until last summer, when an industrial accident interrupted his employment. He previously had worked for 25 years at Wood and Hyde Leather Co., Hagaman.

Mr. Dorman was a member of the Saturday Night Hellers Bowling League and the Gloversville Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, the former Shirley Merrihew Dorman, whom he married on Jan. 24, 1976; a daughter, Diane Dorman of Mayfield; three sisters, Marsha Johnson of Gloversville, and Dorie Cast and LaVerna Nicolella, both of Mayfield; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 147 Bleecker St., Gloversville, where a service will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Contributions may be made to the James A. Brennan Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, NY 12078.

Lillian Spritzer
Lillian Spritzer, 81, of Gloversville, died early Thursday morning at Nathan Littauer Hospital.

She was born on Feb. 9, 1920 in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of Samuel and Clara Fine. She graduated from Philadelphia schools and later attended Temple University, Philadelphia. Mrs. Spritzer moved to Gloversville in 1957, where she had since resided.

She was a member of Knesseth Israel Synagogue, the local Hadassah and the Jewish Community Center, all of Gloversville.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene J. Spritzer, whom she married on Nov. 19, 1939; six grandchildren; and one nephew. She was predeceased by two sons, Donald Spritzer, who died in 1989 and Gary Spritzer, who died in 1994; and one brother, Joseph Fine.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Knesseth Israel Synagogue, Gloversville. Rabbi Martin Gordon will officiate. Interment will take place at Knesseth Israel Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made to Knesseth Israel Synagogue. Arrangements are by Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville.

Charlotte Stoddard
Charlotte Stoddard, 85, formerly of Gloversville, died Wednesday evening at Glendale Nursing Home, Glenville.

She was born on Aug. 13, 1915 in Broadalbin, the daughter of Joseph and Rose Harrington Reynolds. She attended Gloversville schools and lived in the area most of her life.

She was a former member of Sacred Heart Church, Gloversville, and its Rosary Society.

Survivors include one daughter, Joan Hallenbeck and her husband, Al Hallenbeck of Ballston Spa; two sisters, Elizabeth Kelly and her husband, Paul Kelly of Little Falls, and Esther "Peg" Frasier of Northville; two grandchildren, Jeffrey and James Hallenbeck; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Forrest Stoddard, who died on June 7, 1981; and one brother, Delbert Reynolds.

The family will be receiving friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville, where a funeral service will directly follow at 10 a.m. The Rev. David L. Tressic, pastor of Sacred Heart Church, Gloversville, will officiate, assisted by her cousin, John Kelly of Ilion. Interment will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church, Gloversville.

Joseph Lupo
Mr. Joseph Stephen Lupo, 93, of Ridge Road, Canajoharie, died early Thursday morning, April 12 [2001], at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam after a long illness.

He was born on Jan. 6, 1908, in Fonda, the son of Donato and Carmella Cetera Lupo. Mr. Lupo was a graduate of Canajoharie High School's class of 1927 and was a lifelong area resident.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and served as a corporal.

Mr. Lupo was employed in the planning and production department at Beech-Nut and Life Savers in Canajoharie for more than 45 years. He was also a former member of the Volunteer Police of Canajoharie. He retired in 1973.

He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul's Roman Catholic Church, past commander and member of Smith-Schultz Post 222 American Legion, member and past head man of Last Man's Club, and a member of the 25 Year Club at Beech-Nut, all in Canajoharie.

On Sept. 24, 1932, in Schenectady, he married Mary Masi Lupo, who died Aug. 26, 2000.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Pasquale Basilio of Schenectady and Angeline "Jean" and James Luft of Canajoharie; five grandchildren, Anne Marie Stroble of Glenville, Anthony Basilio of Schenectady, Joseph R. Luft of Tonawanda, Angela Darling of Broadalbin and Jennifer Broady of Palatine Bridge; and four great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 16, at the chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home Inc., 20 Otsego St., Canajoharie, where a prayer service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 17. At 10 a.m., a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Cliff Street, Canajoharie. The Rev. William J. Gaffigan will officiate. Burial will take place Sts. Peter and Paul's Cemetery at a later date with full military honors at graveside by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3275, Fort Plain.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Service, PO Box 126, Canajoharie, NY 13317 or American Cancer Society, 1450 Western Ave. Room 101, Albany, NY 12203-3572.

Frances J. Borntraeger
Mrs. Frances J. Borntraeger, 68, of Cornell Street, Amsterdam, died Friday morning at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.

She was born on Sept. 3, 1932 in Gloversville, the daughter of Harry W. and Emma H. Morgan Hayes.

Mrs. Borntraeger moved to Amsterdam in 1955. She was employed by various glove shops, including U.S. Products of Amsterdam, until retiring in 1996.

She was a devoted communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. She was a past president and member of the John J. Wyszomirski Post 701 Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW Women's Auxiliary 55; played Mrs. Santa Claus for the Post 701 for 18 years and at one time served as a den mother of the McCleary School.

She was married on June 22, 1958 to Howard R. Borntraeger. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Joseph Karl Borntraeger and his wife Kimberly of Amsterdam; one daughter, Donna Marie Vega-Ponce and her husband Carlos of Amsterdam; one sister, Doris Leo of Amsterdam; one granddaughter, Ashley Rebecca Vega-Ponce; two step grandchildren, Justin Craig and Brandon Craig. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard J. Hayes. and a sister, Nora L. Fonda.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam. The VFW Women's Auxiliary will conduct a service at 7:15 p.m. and the John J. Wyszomerski Post 701 Ladies Auxiliary will give their service at 7:30 Monday evening at the funeral home. The funeral service will be conducted at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday morning at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 11:30 am. at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Grove Street, Amsterdam. Burial will take place at the Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the St. Jude Children's Hospital or to St. Michael's Memorial Fund c/o the funeral home.

Bertha E. Chambers
Bertha E. Chambers, 88, of White Birch Road, Northville, died Thursday evening at the Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home following a long illness.

She was born on Sept. 21, 1921 in Gloversville, the daughter of Ludwig and Lydia Wilson. She was a homemaker.

Her husband, James Chambers, is deceased. She is survived by one daughter, Rose Watson of Northville, three grandchildren, Rose Lobdell of Hope, Frank Lobdell and Bobby Lobdell both of Gloversville; and six great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Northville Funeral Home, where services will follow at 7 p.m. Spring burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville.

Elinor B. Fisher
Mrs. Elinor B. Fisher, 73, of Barber Street, Fonda, died Thursday, April 12, at the Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, after a long illness.

She was born on Aug. 25, 1927 in Fonda, the daughter of Harry and Elizabeth Blakely Barker. Mrs. Fisher was employed as a nurse's aide at the Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown until her retirement.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert H. Fisher, whom she married on June 4, 1948. He died on June 23, 1993. Survivors include one daughter, Doris Fisher of Dunedin, Fla.; two sons, Roger Fisher of Fonda and Thomas Fisher of Gloversville; one sister, Doris Humphrey of Fonda; 11 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A reception for friends and family will be held at a later date. There will be no calling hours. Cremation will be in Vale Crematory, Schenectady. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Mid New York, 311 Turner St., Suite 415, Utica, NY 13501.

Arrangements are by the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main St., Johnstown.
