Michael J. Zwolak
Michael J. Zwolak, 86, of Perth, N.Y., passed away Wednesday morning [August 1, 2001] at Wells House Nursing Home in Johnstown, N.Y., where he had resided for the past week.

He was born on Sept. 30, 1915 in Amsterdam, the son of James and Veronica Chmelicz Zwolak.

Mr. Zwolak received his education in the Amsterdam school system, and was employed by the former American Locomotive Co., Schenectady, N.Y., and for 52 years the proprietor of Mickey's Tavern in Perth.

He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Broadalbin, N.Y.

Mr. Zwolak is survived by his wife, Theresa Drozinski Zwolak of Perth; three daughters, June Boivin and Diane Zwolak, both of Perth and Janet Bond of Gloversville, N.Y.; two sisters, Stella Slocum of Amsterdam, N.Y. and Victoria Lauriello of Los Angeles, Calif.; two grandchildren, Shawn Bond and his wife, Lynn, of Broadalbin and Bobbi-Jo Stock of North Woodstock, N.Y. and one great-grandson, Alexander Bond of Broadalbin; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Zwolak was predeceased by his son, Alan D. Zwolak on Jan. 23, 1995.

There will be no calling hours. Interment will take place at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Amsterdam, N.Y. Memorial contributions in Mr. Zwolak's name may be made to Broadalbin Volunteer Ambulance Corps, GAVAC or Perth Volunteer Fire Department in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are by Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division St., Amsterdam. The funeral will be held Friday at the convenience of the family.

Pearl L. Canfield
Pearl L. Canfield, 64, of Spring Street, Broadalbin, died Monday afternoon at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, following a brief illness.

She was born on Jan. 25, 1937 in Schenectady, a daughter of Howard and Lillian Richardson Coon. She attended schools in Ballston Spa. Mrs. Canfield had resided in Broadalbin since 1955.

She was employed at Nathan Littauer Hospital for 29 years beginning as a nursing assistant. She became a ward clerk in 1984 and retired in 1999.

Mrs. Canfield was also a skilled seamstress and enjoyed participating in area craft shows.

She was a former member of Broadalbin United Methodist Church and its Miriam Class. Mrs. Canfield was also a former member of the Kennyetto Fire Company Auxiliary.

She was a member and past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8690 Auxiliary and a member of the American Legion Post 337 Auxiliary, both in Broadalbin. At one time, Mrs. Canfield was active with several area bowling leagues including the Busy Bees and the Rolling Twenties. She was a member of the 1976 Sisters of the Brush.

Survivors include two daughters, Joy C. Canfield of Amsterdam and Judy A. Akers of Latham; a brother, William Coon of Saratoga Springs; a sister, Joan Marie Coon of Broadalbin; a granddaughter, Emily Akers; and two nephews. She was married to Clarence W. Canfield Jr. on Feb. 11, 1955 and he died this past Feb. 26.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 38 W. Main St., Broadalbin, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday. The Rev. David H. Moore of the Greater Grace Community Church, Malta, will officiate. Burial will take place at Briggs Cemetery, Ballston Spa. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Broadalbin Volunteer Ambulance Corps in care of the funeral home.

Marcia Dibble
Marcia Dibble, 81, of Prospect Street, Johnstown, died Tuesday, July 31, at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home after a long illness.

She was born on Feb. 20, 1920 in Cobleskill, the daughter of Floyd and Edna Putman Borest. She attended Cobleskill schools.

She was a homemaker.

She was of the Protestant faith and a member of the 50 Plus Club at the Johnstown Senior Citizen Center.

Survivors include two sons, Wesley Dibble and Lloyd Dibble, both of St. Johnsville; one daughter, Maryann Butler of Johnstown; two brothers, Robert Borest of Florida and Stanley Borest of Cobleskill; two sisters, Beatrice Winnie of Albany and Irene Snyder of Cobleskill; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She married Floyd Dibble in 1941 and he died in 1983. She was also predeceased by two daughters, Sylvia Morey and Virginia Hodge.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher St., Johnstown, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Jack Millard, pastor of Johnstown Reformed Church, will officiate. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, or to charity of one's choice.

Delmar Wock
Delmar "DJ" Wock, 83, of Johnstown, died Monday, July 30, at home after a long illness.

Delmar and his brother were the owners of Wock's Luncheonette, first located at 100 W. Main St., and then since 1965 at 21 W. Main St., Johnstown, until their retirement on July 2, 1996.

Mr. Wock was an Army veteran of World War II, a lifetime member of FOE Eagles and active for many years in the Pine Tree Rifle Club. He was elected as a write-in candidate to the Johnstown Water Board, serving several terms.

He enjoyed time spent at his hunting camp that he built in 1960 in Hope Falls, where he hunted since 1935.

Survivors include his brother, William C. Wock; three sons, Kenneth of Rexford, N.Y. Patrick of Broadalbin and William K. of Johnstown; two grandsons and three great-grandsons. Delmar was married to Margaret "Peg" Quigley on April 23, 1939. She preceded him in death Feb. 6, 1968.

There will be no visitation or funeral services. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 40 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, NY 12010, or charity of one's choice. Arrangements are by Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, Johnstown. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Elizabeth M. Yager
Mrs. Elizabeth M. Yager, 82, formerly of Woodrow Road, Amsterdam, died Monday at Montgomery Meadows, Amsterdam where she had been a resident.

She was born on Sept. 11, 1918 in Amsterdam, the daughter of Charles and Hannah Setchell DeGroff. She was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Yager was a member of St. Ann's Episcopal Church, Amsterdam.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda C. Mosconi and her husband, Edward of Gloversville; two sisters, Katherine Antonewicz of Amsterdam and Lillian Jacyna of Reston, Va.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, William A. Yager, whom she married on March 9, 1946. He died on July 23, 1998. She also was predeceased by two sons, William M. Yager Sr. and David Yager; and three brothers, William E., Charles E., and Walter A. DeGroff.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam. The Office of the Burial of the Dead will be read at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Ann's Episcopal Church, Division Street, Amsterdam. Burial will take place at Hagaman Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.

Alice R. Klebba
Mrs. Alice R. Klebba, 96, formerly of New York City, and Johnstown since 1991, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Eden Park Nursing Home, Cobleskill, after a long illness.

She was born on April 9, 1905 in Manhattan. The daughter of Germono and Madeline Dadonena Fasulo.

Mrs. Klebba was a member of St. Anthony's Church, Johnstown.

She was employed with Macy's Department Store, Manhattan, for 47 years until her retirement.

Survivors include one brother, Vincent Mennente of Queens; one stepdaughter, Gabrielle Klebba of Arizona; nieces and nephews. Mrs. Klebba was predeceased by her husband, Anton Klebba.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Church, Nicholas Street, Johnstown. Burial will take place at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Johnstown. Arrangements are by A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main St., Johnstown.

Anna M. Ruberti
Anna M. Ruberti, 77, of Gloversville, died Monday, July 30, after being stricken at home.

She was born on Feb. 14, 1924 in Gloversville and was a lifelong area resident. She attended Gloversville schools.

Miss Ruberti was employed for several years at the former C.J. Bachner Glover Co. as a glove sewer.

Miss Ruberti was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church of Gloversville

She is survived by one brother, Albert P. Ruberti of Gloversville; three sisters, Concetta Scoville and Ida T. Ruberti, both of Gloversville, and Jane Eaton of Johnstown; several nieces and nephews. Miss Ruberti was predeceased by her parents, Oscar and Raffaela Albini Ruberti; three brothers, Ernest Ruberti of Gloversville, Anthony Ruberti of Broadalbin and Oscar Ruberti of Johnstown.

A prayer service was held at 8:30 a.m. today at John W. Finocan Funeral Home, 13 Prospect Ave., Gloversville, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Gloversville. Interment took place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Northeastern New York Chapter, 11 W. Fulton St., Gloversville, NY 12078.
