Lawrence Andrew Madeiros
Mr. Lawrence Andrew Madeiros 38, of Mountain Road, Mayfield, died Sept. 28 at University of Pittsburgh Presbyterian Hospital.

He was born on March 12, 1963 in Troy, N.Y. He was the son of Philip and Ruth Lisky Madeiros Jr. He was a graduate of Bishop Gibbons High SchooL and Siena College.

He was president of Positudes Inc. at the time of his death. He was also vice president of Positudes Pharmacy Inc.

He was a member of the Northville Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the National Hemophilia Foundation, also of the Hemophilia Federation of America, the National Hemophilia Foundation Upper Hudson Valley Chapter and member of the Genetics Institute Advisory Board.

Survivors include his parents of Clifton Park; his wife, Carol Quirion Madeiros of Mayfield; a son, Taylor Madeiros of Mayfield; a daughter, Ashley Madeiros of Mayfield; two brothers, David Madeiros of Boca Raton, Fla. and Robert Madeiros of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sisters, Kathleen DeMonicault of France and Pamela Madeiros of Clifton Park; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Northville Funeral Service Inc., 401 Bridge St. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Northville Presbyterian Church, Reed Street. Memorial contributions may be made to Positudes Inc., 1757 Merrick Ave. Suite 203, Merrick NY 11566.

Bernard E. Hoffman
Bernard E. Hoffman, 79, of Pavilion, N.Y., died Saturday morning, Sept. 29, at Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, N.Y.

He was born on June 27, 1922 in Alabama, N.Y., the son of the late Adam and Ellen Russ Hoffman.

He was a self-employed farmer all his life until he retired in 1986. He then started Bernard Hoffman Hay and Straw Co., which he was still doing at the time of his death.

Mr. Hoffman was a member of NRA, NYS Sheriff's Association, past member of Pavilion Grange. He was a dedicated family man enjoying the outdoors and being an avid hunter, also a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in East Bethany.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lorraine (Murphy) Hoffman of Pavilion; his son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Phyllis Hoffman of Pavilion; his daughters and his son-in-law, Linda Sprague of Warsaw, N.Y. and Susan and Michael Shrader of Gloversville; brother and wife, Adam and Florence Hoffman of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Norman Famiglietti of East Bethany, N.Y. and Vincent Weglarski of Batavia, N.Y.; along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; a granddaughter, Laura Kreutter; four sisters, Frances Weglarski, Josephine Hinz, Mary Famiglietti and Ellen Kerr.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at Gilmartin Funeral Home Inc., 329-333 W. Main St., Batavia, N.Y. Funeral services will be held at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the funeral home, followed at 1 p.m. by a Mass of Christian burial at Immaculate of Conception Roman Catholic Church, East Bethany. Burial will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Batavia. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or to Buffalo General Hospital.

Vincent S. Castiglione
Mr. Vincent S. "James" Castiglione, 90, of East Boulevard, Gloversville, died Tuesday morning, June 12, 2001, at Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, Amsterdam. His death followed a long illness.

He was born on April 24, 1911, in Gloversville, the son of John and Vincenza Troia Castiglione. He attended Gloversville schools and served 13 years in the New York State Army National Guard. In the late 1920s he founded the Jas. Castiglione Glove Co. where he manufactured leather gloves for more than 50 years. The business was last located at 104 N. Arlington Ave., Gloversville.

Mr. Castiglione was a member of Sacred Heart Church and its Holy Name Society. He was a past president of the Gloversville Lions Club, where he initiated the Scholarship Fund; a member of the 27th Division Association and the Johnstown Moose Lodge. He was also a member of various glove manufacturing associations.

He married the former Mary M. Gibbons on April 29, 1939. She died on Aug. 21, 1987.

He is survived by his son, John V. Castiglione of Gloversville; his daughter, Johanne C. Papa of Gloversville; three brothers, Louis J. Castiglione Sr., Robert Castiglione and Anthony Castiglione, all of Gloversville; a sister, Angeline Papa of Gloversville; five grandchildren, Stacia Boswell, David Jung, Jamey Castiglione, Joseph Castiglione, and Robin Castiglione; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Castiglione was predeceased by one sister, Anna Castiglione; and two brothers, Mario "Matty" Castiglione and Salvatore Castiglione.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a prayer service will be conducted at 9:45 a.m. Friday, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. David L. Tressic will be the celebrant. Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vincent Castiglione Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of City National Bank, 12 N. Main St. Gloversville, NY 12078.

Clemma Husted
A memorial service for Clemma Husted will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Northville United Presbyterian Church, Reed Street, Northville.

Elsie H. Dailey
Mrs. Elsie H. Dailey, 79, of Oakhurst Road, Largo, Fla., formerly of Gloversville, died Sunday at Vencor Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla., as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident that occurred on May 16.

Born in Gloversville on Oct. 27, 1921, she was the daughter of Rudolf and Ada Lenz Hubatsek. She lived in Gloversville for many years and was a graduate of the Gloversville High School class of 1939. She then attended and graduated from the former Gloversville Business School.

While in Gloversville, she was employed for some time as credit manager for the St. Thomas Inc. Leather Goods Co. before retiring in 1965. She did work for one year after her retirement as the tenant relations director of the Gloversville Housing Authority.

She had lived in Florida for many years.

Mrs. Dailey was a volunteer for the Pinellas Talking Book Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped in Clearwater, Fla.

She married Fred E. Dailey in May of 1944. He passed away in September of 1986.

Survivors include one son, Frederick "Mike" Dailey, his wife, Shari A. Dailey, and two step-grandchildren, all of Amsterdam.

Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment is in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville, N.Y. Memorial contributions may be made in Elsie's memory to the Gloversville Free Library, 58 E. Fulton St., Gloversville, NY 12078. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, 12010.

Antoinette M. Fiorillo
Antoinette M. Fiorillo, 21, of Florida Avenue, Amsterdam, passed away late Wednesday morning at Ellis Hospital.

Born in Amsterdam on Oct. 14, 1979, a daughter of Ralph and Bernadette Bidanset Fiorillo, she was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and attended Tecler School and Liberty Enterprises in Amsterdam.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Amsterdam.

Antoinette enjoyed collecting dolls and videos. She loved her family dearly and her nieces and nephews, as they loved her.

In addition to her beloved parents, Ralph and Bernadette Fiorillo, survivors include a dear brother, Ralph Fiorillo II of Amsterdam; dear sisters, Nicola Gabriel and her husband, Tom, and Andrea Fiorillo, all of Amsterdam; her loving maternal grandmother, Anna Bidanset of Broadalbin; loving paternal grandparents, Ted and Betty Vassi Fiorillo of Amsterdam; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 8:15 a.m. Saturday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:15 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the International Rett Syndrome Association, 121 Piscataway Road STE 28, Clinton, MD 20735 or to Liberty Foundation Inc., P.O. Box 515, Amsterdam, 12010.

John L. Maloney
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for John L. Maloney of Mayfield at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Church, 158 E. Main St., Amsterdam.

Friends are invited to attend.

Arrangements are by Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division St, Amsterdam.

George S. Trippodo
George S. Trippodo, 69, of Third Avenue, Gloversville, died suddenly Wednesday at his home.

Born in Gloversville July 27, 1931, he was the son of Frank and Patricia Spencer Trippodo. He was employed at Hussman Corp., Gloversville, retiring many years ago. He was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Gloversville.

Survivors include his companion of many years, Emily Crowter of Gloversville; a daughter, Michele Trippodo of Mohawk; two sisters, Dolores De Rosa and Emma Ficili, both of Gloversville; a granddaughter, Natalia Passino of Broadalbin; two grandsons, Joshua Trippodo of Herkimer and Robert Passino of Broadalbin.

It was Mr. Trippodo's wishes that there be no funeral services or viewing hours. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church. Cremation was at the Leatherstocking Crematory, Cherry Valley. Funeral arrangements are by Amico Funeral Home, Gloversville.
