Lois June Hayes Cole
Mrs. Lois June Hayes Cole, age 49, of State Highway 30, Amsterdam, N.Y., died Friday, June 8, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.
She was born on June 11, 1951, in Amsterdam, the daughter of William and Elsie Frye Hayes. She lived in Ormond by the Sea, Fla., for 14 years and returned to Amsterdam this past December.
Mrs. Cole was a member of the Johnstown Eagles Auxiliary.
On Sept 24, 1995, she married Richard A. Cole, who survives.
She is survived also by her son, Brian Scott Hayes of Broadalbin; her mother, Elsie Hayes, also of Broadalbin; five sisters, Hazel McKeever of Perth, Cynthia Spencer, Beth Hayes, Susan Serafin, and Nancy Leach, all of Broadalbin; and six brothers, William Jr., Daniel, Harry, Thomas, and John, all of Broadalbin, and David Hayes of Amsterdam; three stepdaughters, Elena Willet of Johnstown, Lori Marshall and Becky Belden, both of Gloversville; one stepson, Robert Cole of Ephratah; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandson; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her father, William Hayes, and her twin brothers, Robert and Richard Hayes.
The family will receive friends and family from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Jeffords and Stewart Funeral Home, 85 W. Main St., Broadalbin. A private service will take place at the convenience of the family at Perth Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Moyer, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Broadalbin, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.

Evelyn M. Hayes
Evelyn M. Hayes, 82, of Gloversville, died Sunday, June 10, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.
She was born June 30, 1918, in Johnstown, a daughter of Franz and Magadline Brown Schreivogl. She graduated from Johnstown High School Class of 1936. She was a lifelong area resident and homemaker.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Hayes, whom she married on June 25, 1939. He died in 1974.
Survivors include three sons, Frank W. Hayes of Mayfield, Allen L. Hayes of Tribes Hill, and Donald W. Hayes of Caroga Lake; one daughter, Judith K. Snell of Gloversville; one brother, Florian Schreivogl of Marianette, Wisc.; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Leon, William and Edwin Schreivogl; and one sister, Mildred Albanese.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Patrick Veltri, pastor of the Wesleyan Church, Gloversville, officiating. Interment will be at North Bush Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Mildred Kathleen Johannes
Mrs. Mildred "Sam," "Millie," "Moie," Kathleen Johannes, 90, of East Sixth Avenue, Johnstown, died Saturday, June 9, 2011 at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home, Gloversville, following a long illness.
She was born on Feb. 3, 1911, in Sidney, Delaware County, the daughter of Egbert Hiram and Martha Claudine Pine Ketchum.
Mrs. Johannes graduated from Fultonville High School in 1928, then attended the former Gloversville Business School, graduating in 1929.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served as secretary for the Sunday school, primary, and relief society auxiliary organizations. She also taught the social relations lesson in the relief society.
Mrs. Johannes was employed as a bookkeeper and as an office manager for various glove shops in the area until retiring in 1962
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Clarence "Red" Johannes, whom she married Feb. 10, 1947; one brother, E. Kendall Ketchum of Gloversville; one great-nephew, Bradley E. Kropf; and cousins.
Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service on Tuesday at 12 noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Steele Avenue, Gloversville, with Elder Fred J. Ward conducting; Marsha Smith, second speaker, and branch president Jeffrey D. Eaton speaker.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the church, prior to the services.
Burial will be in Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.
Arrangements are by the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main St., Johnstown.

Genevieve L. Petersen
Mrs. Genevieve L. (Howenstein) Petersen, 84, of Cleveland Avenue, Schenectady, N.Y., formerly of Clifton Park, N.Y., died on Saturday, June 9, 2001 at Ellis Hospital.
She was born on Sept. 22, 1916, in Schenectady, where she resided most of her life. She was a homemaker.
She married Peter T. Petersen on Jan. 25, 1941. He died on Jan. 18, 1996.
Mrs. Petersen is survived by three daughters, Sallie Mercier of Schenectady, Nancy Gibbons of Gloversville, and MaryLou Wheeler of Taylor Mill, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Wendy Kisselback of Watervliet, N.Y., Stacey Mercier of Schenectady, N.Y., Derek Mercier of Charlotte, N.C., Michele Mathurin of Westerly, R.I., Debra Boles of Greensboro, N.C., Janet Gibbons of Potsdam, N.Y., Chad Wallimann of Burnt Hills, N.Y., and Shane Wallimann of Clifton Park, N.Y.; five great grandchildren.
Visitation hours will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, followed by services at noon Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway and Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, N.Y.
Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie, N.Y.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12309.

Ronald O. Slater
A memorial service was held on June 9, 2001, at the Sprakers Reformed Church, for Ronald O. Slater, 62, formerly of Mayfield. He died suddenly on Sept. 20, 2000 in Hazel Park, Mich.
He was born in Sandy Creek, N.Y. on May 18, 1938, the son of Orman and Vivian Slater. He served in the National Guard from 1956 to 1959. He was well-known in Michigan and nationwide for his unique talent in creating stained-glass art. He owned and operated Glass Expressions since 1988 until his death.
On June 26, 1970, he married Carol Monk, who survives. He is also survived by one brother, Bruce Slater of Milton, Wis.; two daughters, Cindy Claridge of Florida and Susan Claridge of Syracuse; four stepdaughters, Debra Henry and Amy Zemken of Mayfield, Terry Merrill of Texas, and Mary Beth Dingman of Fonda; one nephew, Timothy Slater of Milton, Wis.; 10 grandchildren and several cousins.

Donald A. Brown
Mr. Donald A. Brown, 80, of East Fulton Street Extension, Gloversville, died Monday morning at home.
He was born on Aug. 3, 1920 in Gloversville, the son of Stewart and Lillian Winteroll Brown. He attended Gloversville schools, and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Mr. Brown was employed as a pipe fitter by General Electric Co. in Schenectady for over 30 years. He retired in 1983. He attended St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church.
Survivors include his wife, the former Asunda "Sue" Mazzariello, whom he married on July 3, 1948; one son, Thomas J. Brown of Carrollton, Ohio; one daughter, Sue Campo of Amsterdam, N.Y.; two brothers, Robert Brown of Gloversville and Alfred Brown; three sisters, Katherine Peterson of Gloversville, N.Y., Lillian Hayner of Johnstown, N.Y., and Doris Meyers of Shelton, Conn.; three grandchildren, Justin Brown, Megan Brown and Nathan Brown of Carrollton, Ohio; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. A prayer service will be conducted at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Donald Czelusniak, pastor of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Assn., 440 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.

Dr. Frank J. Litynski
Dr. Frank J. Litynski, 78, a former Johnstown resident, died Friday at the Mease Countryside Hospital in Palm Harbor, Fla., following a brief illness.
He was born in Amsterdam on June 1, 1923, the son of Stanley and Margaret Czech Litynski. He was a graduate of St. Mary's School. He did his undergraduate studies at Siena College in Loudonville and then graduated in 1952 from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Mass.
He was a dentist in Johnstown until his retirement.
Dr. Litynski resided in Palm Harbor for the past 14 years.
He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps and was a bombardier and a navigator.
Dr. Litynski was a communicant of Espirtu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor, Fla.
He was a member of the Rotary Club International, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, and the American Dental Assn.
Survivors include his wife, the former Alice Simons, whom he married on Aug. 30, 1947; a son, David Lindsay of Portland, Maine; and a daughter, Dr. Margaret Lindsay of Broadalbin.
Cremation was performed in Largo, Fla. A graveside service will be held at a later date at St. John's Cemetery, Amsterdam.

Local arrangements are by the Robert H. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., Broadalbin.
