Genevieve L. Petersen
Mrs. Genevieve L. (Howenstein) Petersen, 84, of Cleveland Avenue, Schenectady, N.Y., formerly of Clifton Park, N.Y., died on Saturday, June 9, 2001 at Ellis Hospital.
She was born on Sept. 22, 1916, in Schenectady, where she resided most of her life. She was a homemaker.
She married Peter T. Petersen on Jan. 25, 1941. He died on Jan. 18, 1996.
Mrs. Petersen is survived by three daughters, Sallie Mercier of Schenectady, Nancy Gibbons of Gloversville, and MaryLou Wheeler of Taylor Mill, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Wendy Kisselback of Watervliet, N.Y., Stacey Mercier of Schenectady, N.Y., Derek Mercier of Charlotte, N.C., Michele Mathurin of Westerly, R.I., Debra Boles of Greensboro, N.C., Janel Gibbons of Potsdam, N.Y., Chad Wallimann of Burnt Hills, N.Y., and Shane Wallimann of Clifton Park, N.Y.; five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at noon today, June 12, 2001, preceded by calling hours from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway and Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, N.Y.
Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie, N.Y.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12309.

Richard M. Polikowski
Richard M. Polikowski, 52, of First Street, Amsterdam, N.Y., passed away Sunday, June 10, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, after being stricken.
Born in Amsterdam on Sept. 28, 1948, a son of Michael and Dorothy Seeley Polikowski, he was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam in 1966.
Mr. Polikowski was a senior investigator with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department. He also worked for many years at the General Electric Co. in Schenectady before becoming an investigator.
He was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam.
He was a member of the Montgomery County Deputy Sheriff's Association, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1185 in Johnstown, N.Y., and a former member of the Sacandaga Boat Club.
Mr. Polikowski married the former Margaret F. Atkinson on June 29, 1968.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Matthew M. Polikowski and John R. Polikowski, both of Amsterdam. Nieces, nephews, and a cousin, Thomas Murey of Broadalbin, also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Investigative Child Abuse Network, PO Box 124, Fort Johnson, NY 12070.

Carrie May Horning Reid
Carrie May Horning Reid, 88, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Mrs. Reid was born on June 22, 1912, in Parish, N.Y., to John and Mary Pickins Horning. She graduated from Parish High School and her hobbies included photography and gardening.
In early years she was employed with Crouse-Hinds Co. in Syracuse, N.Y., as a solderer and a timekeeper for 20 years.
She had resided in Mattydale, N.Y., (a suburb of Syracuse, N.Y.) for 40 years; Pomona Park, Fla., for 26 years, and finally in West Palm Beach, Fla., for three years.
Survivors are her children, Earnest of East Syracuse, N.Y., Carl and Paul of Gloversville, N.Y., Harry of Loxahatchee, Fla., (a suburb of West Palm Beach); seven brothers, Wilford, Arbie, Dana, Wardell, John, Peter, and Orville; sisters, Nellie O'Grady and Emma Fisher; former husband, James F. Reid; eight grandchildren, Aaron, Annissa, Meghan, Matthew and Christopher, Linda, John, and Louis; great grandchildren, Collin and Devyn, Nicole, Erica, Brian, Emma and Sandy.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2001, at Lake Como Pomona Park Cemetery with Pastor Gary Munson as officiant. Memorial contributions may be sent to First Baptist Church of Pomona Park Building Fund, PO Box 505, Pomona Park, FL 32181. Watts Funeral Home, San Mateo, "our family serving your family since 1983," is in charge of the arrangements.

William Archinal
January 1, 2001
Mr. William J. Archinal, 90, of Gloversville, died Friday at Nathan Littauer Hospital. He had resided at Pineview Commons Home for Adults, Johnstown, for two weeks.
Born on Sept. 8, 1909 in Johnstown, he was the son of Conrad and Agnes Haas Archinal.
Mr. Archinal was educated in Johnstown schools. He was employed in the maintenance department of Nathan Littauer Hospital for several years, then worked at the former Sand's Grocery in Johnstown for many years.
Mr. Archinal married Margaret E. McFeeley on July 28, 1931. She died on July 19, 1997.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn J. Cornell of Gloversville and Bonnie A. Brown of Caroga Lake; a sister, Ann Basileo of Johnstown, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Archinal was predeceased by his brother, Edward Archinal, and his two sisters, Katherine Montanye and Lorraine Auferheide.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a service will follow at noon with the Rev. Dr. Alan C. Rhodes, pastor of North Main Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will take place in Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown.

Herbert Brenno
January 1, 2001
Mr. Herbert T. Brenno, 80, a former resident of Hornell and the father of two Gloversville men, died Thursday at the Fulton County Residential Health Care facility after a long illness.
Born on Feb. 12, 1920, in Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence County, he was the son of William and Laura LeMay Brenno.
Mr. Brenno was educated in Ogdensburg schools, and served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
He then lived in Pearl River, Rockland County, and worked at the Rockland County Psychiatric Center as an electrocardiogram and electroencephalograph technician, retiring in 1975.
Mr. Brenno was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Orangetown, and the Elks Club in Nanuet. From 1975 to 1979, he lived in Hornell, Steuben County. In 1979, he lived in Amsterdam and then Morristown, St. Lawrence County, prior to returning to Hornell. He was an avid bowler and bocce player.
Mr. Brenno married Jeannette Vice on Jan. 28, 1946. She died in 1997.
Survivors include one daughter, Lori Blades, of Hornell; two sons, Michael "Mick" Brenno and Jeff Brenno, both of Gloversville; and one sister Mae Sansone, of New Britain Conn.; six grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Brenno was predeceased by one son, John Brenno; a grandson, Jeremy T. Brenno; and two brothers, Harold and Frank Brenno.
A private funeral service will be conducted at the the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 147 Bleecker St., Gloversville, at the convenience of the family. There will be no public calling hours. Cremation will take place at Parkview Crematory, Schenectady. Final Interment of the cremains will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.

Mr. Louis A. Conti
January 1, 2001
Mr. Louis A. Conti, 79, of Gloversville died Sunday at the Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home after a long illness.
He was born Oct. 22, 1921, in Ambridge, Pa., a son of Angelo and Constanza Biasini Conti.
Mr. Conti served in the Army during World War II.
He worked in his early years as a glove cutter for Rubin Glove Co., then as a stock clerk for General Electric Co. in Schenectady, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Gloversville and a former member of the local Glove Cutters Union.
He married Bernice Aderholdt on July 11, 1942. She died Aug. 12, 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Paul Conti of Gloversville and Thomas Conti of San Francisco, Calif.; two sisters, Gloria Plummer of Kissimini, Fla., and Leona Jenkins of Gloversville; and one grandson.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Barter and Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher St., Johnstown. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church in Gloversville with the Rev. David Tressic, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in the spring at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.

Ardith 'Ardy' Priester Lee
January 1, 2001
Mrs. Ardith "Ardy" Priester Lee, 82, died Friday evening at Maplewood Manor, Ballston Spa. She lived at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility for seven years before entering Maplewood Manor in June.
Mrs. Lee was born May 16, 1918, in Corinth, the daughter of Emil and Laura Taylor Priester.
She was a 1935 graduate of Corinth High School and a 1937 graduate of Syracuse Beauty School.
She practiced hairstyling in Syracuse for a time before moving to Gloversville. She worked for several leather glove manufacturers and was employed at the Fulton County Infirmary in Gloversville for 17 years, where she retired as head housekeeper.
Mrs. Lee was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Gloversville.
She married Harold E. Lee on April 3, 1971. He died Oct. 3, 1991.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins and was predeceased by her sister, Florence Priester Rivette, and brothers Walter and George Priester.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Walrath and Stewart Funeral Home Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a prayer service will follow at 11 a.m. This will be followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Kingsboro Avenue, Gloversville, with the Rev. David L. Tressic, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will take place in the spring at Greenwich Cemetery, Greenwich.
