William J. Mayer, of Valhalla, NY died May 20, 2008, he was 84.
Born October 15, 1923 in West New York, NJ the son of John & Agnes (Sesera) Mayer.
He lived in Harlem when he was young, graduating from Commerce High School, he and his family moved to Elmhurst, Queens.
Mr. Mayer served in the US Army during WWII, holding the rank of PFC. He was a combat wounded veteran, receiving the Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with two battle stars.
Before and after WWII he worked for Nestle Foods as Import-Export Traffic Manager retiring in 1986.
While working for Nestle he met his wife Elisabeth (Debler) and they married in Elmhurst, Queens on August 21, 1948. They started married life in Bayside, NY, then moving to Silverlake, NY and finally settling in Valhalla in 1951. His wife Elisabeth predeceased him in 1998.
He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Church, Valhalla and Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne.
Mr. Mayer is survived by his daughters; Judith Barbarite of Hawthorne, and Patricia Audet, his brother Richard of Florida, his grandchildren, Cheryl Vallerie, Michelle Kelly, Felice Mennone, Charles Audet, Alexander Audet, Barbara Barbarite, and Jennifer Barbarite and his great-grandchildren, Ethan Vallerie and Fiona Vallerie. His daughter Barbara Mayer and brothers Frank and John Mayer predeceased him.
Visiting hours Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Beecher Funeral Home, Pleasantville. Mass of Christian Burial Friday 10 AM, Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, NY. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY

GIANNETTI, ELIZABETH T. (LEE) (NEE COCCHIAR

Elizabeth Giannetti, 86, passed on April 13, 2009. Lee was born on March 5, 1923 in NY to Salvatore and Louisa Cocchiaro. She married Lawrence A. Giannetti on May 4, 1947 and was predeceased by him. Elizabeth is survived by her sons Saverio, Lawrence and her daughter Florence, daughter in laws Donna and Susan, her four grandchildren Christopher, Paul, Tiffany and Kristi and one great granddaughter Madison Elizabeth. Mass of Christian Burial Friday April 17 at 10AM at Sacred Heart Church in Hartsdale on Central Avenue with Burial to follow Calvary Cemetery in Queens. HAUPT, LOUISE

Louise Haupt, 91, of New City, passed away on January 8, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Suf fern, NY. She was a retired book keeper and a resident of New City for over 40 years. She was predeceased by her husband William in 1997 and her brother Charles in 1995. As a beloved aunt and stepmother, she is survived by two nephews, two nieces, a stepdaughter, two step-grandchildren and many friends. Her family is planning a memorial service on April 17 at Higgins Funeral Parlor, Main St., New City. Visitation begins at 9:30 AM, followed by the service at 10:30 AM. HUGHES, MICHAEL F.

Michael F. Hughes, of Yorktown Heights, NY passed away on April 15, 2009 after a short battle with cancer. Born in Queens, NY he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Barry Hughes. He is a captain in Judge Advocate General Corp, US Naval Reserve and is employed as an assistant district attorney for the Westchester County District Attorney's office. Michael was a 1981 graduate of NY University and a 1984 graduate of Fordham Law School. He is survived by his wife Donna and sons Michael and Ryan. Also survived by sisters Mary Ellen Caldara, Patricia Matthies, Eileen McHugh, Theresa Cummings, Christina McGovern, Kathleen Drumm and brothers John, Dennis, Christopher, Timothy and Terence Hughes. Viewing hours will be held on Friday from 6 to 9 pm at the Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Ave., Pelham, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday April 18th at 12 noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1817 First St., Bethlehem, Pa. Interment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Palmer Twp., Pa.

LANSING, HELEN C.

Helen C. Lansing (nee Garbowski) of Yonkers died on Wednesday April 15, 2009 at age 89. Born on May 19, 1915 to Walter and Mary Garbowski in Yonkers where she was raised. On June 1, 1935, she married Adam J. Lansing in Yonkers. He died in 1984. Helen was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and was a volunteer for Ro sary Hill Home, sewing and making bandages. She was also a tour guide for the Sherwood House on Tucka hoe Road. Mrs. Lansing is survived by her two sons, Robert of Norfolk, Va. and Joseph (Marie) of Liberty, N.Y. and her grandson David Lansing. She is also survived by two brothers, Adam of Greenville, N.C. and Alexander Garbowski of Yonkers and two sisters Josephine Sculingi and Dolores Garbowski both of Whiting, N.J. She was predeceased by three sisters, Stella, May and Sophie. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday evening only from 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church on Friday April 17th at 11 AM. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery. LAWLESS, JOHN P.

The Lawless Family sadly announces the passing of John P. Lawless on Friday, April 3, 2009 at the age of 64. Jack was born June 3, 1944 in Suffern, NY to Marie (Gordon) and Thomas F. Lawless, Jr. Jack retired from I.B.E.W. Local 363 in 2005 after 41 years as an electrician. He is survived by his wife Susan of The Villages, Florida, son and daughter-in-law, John and Taryn of Haverstraw, and his son Gregg of Thiells, three grandchildren, J.P., Ryan and Katie, half-brothers Daniel and Francis, half-sister Eileen, nephews Todd and Peter as well as many cousins and friends, including his two beloved dogs. Jack is predeceased by mother, father and brother Thomas, former Haverstraw Town Supervisor, along with his half-brother, Patrick. Jack grew up in Haverstraw, attending St. Peter's Elementary School and Haverstraw High School. Jack lived in North Rock land his entire life, recently re tiring to Florida to relax and play golf. He was exceptionally handy and could fix or build just about anything. He could always be found engaged in one project or another and tinkering around the house when not on the fairway. Due to the Easter holiday, a memorial mass will be held on Saturday, April 18 at 10 AM at St. Peter's Church, Broadway, Haverstraw. A luncheon celebrating Jack's life will be held for family and friends immediately after at the Sonoma Grille located at The Philip J. Rotella Memorial Golf Course on Thiells Mt. LECKIE, SEAN CHARLES

Sean Charles Leckie of 915 Wynnewood Avenue, Pelham Manor, died suddenly on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the age of 43. Mr. Leckie was born October 20, 1965 in Cambridge, England to Frederick Alexander Leckie, currently of Pelham Manor, and Elizabeth Wheelwright Leckie, deceased. He was educated in England and graduated from Bedales School, Steep, Hampshire, in 1984 when he became seriously ill with chronic fatigue syndrome. Due to this illness, he was unable to start his medical training at The London Hospital and lived with his parents until his death. Notwithstanding his debilitating medical condition, he maintained a keen interest in a wide range of activities. In addition to his father, he is survived by brother Gavin Leckie, sister-in-law Elizabeth Leckie, nephews Hamish and Angus and nieces Catriona and Elspeth, all of Pelham Manor; brother Gregor Leckie, sister-in-law Sylvia, nieces Mia and Isabel, all of Deerfield, IL. Extended family include his aunt Margaret Canada of Stamford, CT; uncle Charles Flaccus of Florida, cousins Warren Crunden and John Crunden, both of Cape May, NJ, Sandy Crunden of Texas, Dennis Canada III of Easton, CT, Alison Canada of Norwalk, CT, and oth er extended family members. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Frederick and Mary Leckie of Dundee, Scotland, Alison Flaccus of Greenwich, CT, Jere Wheelwright of Montclair, NJ; aunt and uncle Nan and Bill Powrie of Dundee, Scotland, aunt and uncle Eleanor and Warren Crunden of Cedarhurst, NY, and cousin Barbara Meyer of Newton, North Carolina. A service is scheduled for Saturday, April 18th at Christ Church, Pelham Manor at 10:30 AM.
