ROSENBERG, MIRIAM
Miriam (nee Nierenberg) Rosenberg. The loving daughter of William and Bessie Nierenberg, born in the Bronx and raised and lived in Mt. Vernon, NY before retiring to Deerfield Beach, Florida. Resident of Hebrew Home for the Aged in Riverdale for the past three years. Born May 27, 1916, passed away peacefully July 25, 2008. Beloved wife of the late Benjamin B. Rosenberg for 54 years, devoted and proud mother of Alan D. Rosenberg and Wendy, the late Leonard Rosenberg and Arlene. Adored grandmother of Kerri and Rich Schnapper, Joshua, Brian and Stacy. Loving great grandmother of Lexi and Mackenzie. Survived by brothers Moe and Ralph Nierenberg, and preceded by sister Pauline. One of the first woman to be Bar Mitzvahed in 1928. Volunteered at YMHA in Mt. Vernon and knitted for Israeli charity. She will always be remembered. Burial 11 AM at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hastings on Hudson, NY
SABATINO, JOHN S. SR.
John S. Sabatino Sr. of Cortlandt Manor, NY passed away on July 23, 2008. He was 78. Born on April 12, 1930 in Port Chester, NY to Vincent and Mary Padula Sabatino. John, known for his craftsmanship, owned and operated Sabatino Woodworking in Peekskill until his retirement in the mid 1990's. Mr. Sabatino was honorably discharged from the US Army after serving his country from 1951 to 1957. On September 2, 1951 he married Margaret (Margie) Croft at the Assumption Church in Peekskill. John was an active and longtime member of the Christopher Columbus Society of Peekskill and served with the Peekskill Fire Patrol for forty years. He was also a member of the "Steam Club". He is survived by his wife Margaret (Margie) Sabatino of Cortlandt Manor, and four children; Linda Hibbs of Redwood City, CA, John S. Sabatino, Jr., and his wife Donna of Riverview, FL, Donna Sabatino of Fishkill and Lisa Presutti and her husband Robert of Poughkeepsie, and two grandchildren, Michael and Jenna Presutti. Also survived by a sister, Rae Terenna of Port Chester. He was predeceased by his three brothers and one sister, Joseph Rich, James Sabatino, Mary Zuccarelli and Michael Sabatino. SHERMAN, BERTRAM ANDREW
On July 14, 2008 Bertram Andrew Sherman left this world. A devoted father and husband, he is survived by his daughter, Heather and son Spencer. A loving Grandfather who leaves behind Nicole and Natalie. He served mankind as a professor at Pratt Institute, an architect in his local community, and a construction manager on many projects including The World Trade Center. He joins his wife Guelda, his parents Harry and Rose and many friends and relatives who have left already. His beloved pets will be happy to see him. He will be missed by many. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM on Sunday July 27th at The Scarsdale Reform Temple at (2 Ogden Rd., Scarsdale). Reception in celebration of his life to follow.

Joan Schneider Tait of New Rochelle, Beloved mother and friend passed away Thursday of heart failure. She was 79. Artist, teacher, world Traveler and lover of people. She will be missed by many. She is survived by a daughter Leslie.

Emilie Z. Tracy, born Prague, Czecholslovakia on August 20, 1931 died peacefully in her sleep on July 25, 2008. Emilie is survived by her husband, Donald S. Tracy of New City, four children, Donald Tracy of Long Beach Island, NJ, Emilie Tracy of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Judith Ann Pirela of Annapolis, MD, and Bruce Tracy of Tomkins Cove, NY. Emilie had four grandchildren, Judita and Jenny Pirela of Annapolis, MD and Kristina and Bruce Tracy, Jr. of Tomkins Cove, NY. Emile attended the University of Maryland and was a licensed Real Estate Broker, a profession she embarked upon after raising her children and was retired from at the time of her death. She was a cancer survivor. Services will be held at Sorce Funeral Home, 728 West Nyack Road, West Nyack, NY. Visiting hours will be Saturday from 7-9 PM, Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM and the Funeral Service will be on Monday at 10 AM., at the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home. Rose Alati of Yonkers, died July 24, 2008. She was 84 years old. Loving wife of Gustave. Beloved mother of Rita (William) Van Cook and Claire Alati. BARRY, DOROTHY E.
Dorothy E. Barry, a Peekskill resident, died on July 23, 2008. She was 91 years old. Dorothy was born in Peekskill, the daughter of William Barry and Katherine Morrissey. A graduate of Peekskill High School, class of 1934, she received a teaching certificate from New Paltz Normal School. She received a BA in Elementary Education from NYU and a MA from Columbia University Teacher‘s College. Dorothy started her teaching career in 1937 in Sullivan County. She then taught at the Toddville School and Hendrick Hudson School District, retiring in 1975. A communicant of the Assumption Church, Peekskill, she was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Dorothy was a member of the New York State Teacher's Association, the Peekskill Area Retired Teacher's Association and the Peekskill Senior Citizens. She enjoyed golf, tennis, bowling and watching baseball. She is survived by her first cousin Marion (Robert) Ryan of Flagler Beach, FL and her second cousins Kathryn Eible, Gary Hickey and Judith Uriarte. A brother Thomas Barry predeceased her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Assumption, Peekskill on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow at the Assumption Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor. Visiting at the Dorsey-Carlone Funeral Home, Peekskill on Friday (today) 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to the Church of the Assumption.
