LESLIE, JR., JOHN

John Leslie, Jr., 94, a longtime Peekskill resident, passed away on March 12, 2009. He was born on January 31, 1915, at 116 Washington Street, the home of his mother's family since 1832. John attended Drum Hill School, and graduated from Peekskill HS in 1933. He received his Bachelors degree from Columbia College in 1937. John served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant from 1942 - 1946. He worked for IBM in Armonk, NY, for 34 yrs; he retired in 1981 as a Senior Tax Specialist. John was the past chairman of the Peekskill Community Development Agency; the Peekskill Housing Authority and the Riverfront Green for several years; and was active with St. Peter's Church, where he served as a Vestryman and Treasurer. He was also the past-President of the Lincoln Society and the Peekskill Museum. In November 1952, he married his loving wife Dorothy Huddleston, who survives him at home. Along with his wife; he is survived by three children: Alexander (Donna) Leslie, Darcy Parsons, Jessica (Scott) Moore, and his three grandchildren: Nigel Moore, Eva and Dylan Parsons. The Family will receive friends on Friday, March 20th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the E.O. CURRY FUNERAL HOME, Peekskill. A Memorial Mass will be offered for John, 11:00 am, Saturday, March 21st at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Peekskill. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. PATAFIO, ANTHONY

Anthony Patafio of Chester, NY died on March 14 2009. He was 88 years old. He was born August 26, 1920 in Italy to the late Salvatore and Maria Cardillo Patafio. Mr. Patafio worked as an agent for Prudential Insurance Company and served in the US Army during World War II. Mr. Patafio was a member of Hook & Ladder Fire Department for over 55 years. He is survived by two, sons, Sal Patafio (Judy) and Warren Patafio (Nancy), two brothers, Clement Patafio, Romolo Patafio, one sister, Jennie Muto, as well as his grandchildren, Debra Beam, Michael Patafio, Mark Patafio, Karen Patafio, Elena Cutro, Warren Patafio, Jr. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Lavinia and his brother Umberto Patafio. Friends may call from 2-4PM and 7-9PM on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at the Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home, 767 E. Boston Post Rd., Mamaroneck, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10AM on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Sts. John & Paul RC Church, Larchmont, NY. Interment will follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery, Rye, NY.

RATTIGAN, JOHN T.

John T. Rattigan, a resident of Manchester, NJ, died on March 14, 2009 after a brief illness. He previously resided in Tappan, NY. He was born in Brooklyn on August 21, 1927 to John and Delia Lavin Rattigan. John served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946. Before retiring, he was an electrician for the NYC Transit Authority. Since 1964, John was an active member of the Tappan Volunteer Fire Association and a parishioner of the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church. He will always be remembered for his wry sense of humor and giving ways. John was predeceased by his first wife, the late Rita Colacino Rattigan. He is survived by his wife, Eve; his daughter, Kathy Pflugbeil and her husband Tom; his grandson, Andrew; his sister Eileen McKenna; and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, 10 am, at the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Tappan with passed away on February 25, 2009, after a short illness. He was 56 years old. He was born in Tarrytown, NY on July 26, 1952. He grew up in Sleepy Hollow (formerly North Tarrytown) NY and was a 1970 graduate of Sleepy Hollow High School. He is a 1980 graduate of Syracuse University with a degree in landscape architecture. Mr. Chamberlain was a former Boy Scout leader of Troop 6 in the Tarrytowns, as well as a member and past president of the Historical Society of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow, as well as the Sleepy Hollow Society. He was a son of the late Francesca Seery and John T. Chamberlain Sr. of Ithaca, NY and Sleepy Hollow. Mr. Chamberlain began his career as a landscape architect with Kane & Carruth. He then worked for NATRL, The Glen Gate Co., John Geiger & Co. and Charles Marder & Co., before forming his own business. His surviving family includes his brother John T. "Ted" Chamberlain Jr., wife Connie and their daughter Jennifer of Riverdale, NY; brother Seery Chamberlain, wife Mary and their children James, Joe and Jonathan Curtis; grandniece Nadiah Curtis of Penn Yan, NY; brother Dan and wife Iris of Wingdale, NY; and sister Kate Chamberlain and husband Howard Samuelsohn of New York, NY. Rob is also survived by the families of his late uncle Robert F. Chamberlain Jr. and his late aunt Phyllis Chamberlain Kilbourne, as well as Nancy Higgons of Sleepy Hollow, NY, his companion of 13 years. Mr. Chamberlain's Funeral arrangements include a wake at Dwyer & Vanderbilt Funeral Home in Tarrytown on Sunday, March 1st. A Celebration of his life will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church in Sleepy Hollow on Monday, March 2nd at 9:30AM. Mr. Chamberlain's ashes will later be interred in the Chamberlain family plot in Newark Valley, NY. D'ISERNIA, MARY DOYLE

Mary Doyle D'Isernia-a simple Irish girl goes home to her Lord and Savior. Mary Magdelene Doyle D'Isernia celebrated her birthday in Heaven on February 25, 2009. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her adoring family. Mary was born November 12, 1910 on Barrack Street in Nenagh, Tipperary, Ireland. She was baptized "Bridget" that same day in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mary was the granddaughter of Luke Doyle of the 5th Northumberland Fusiliers credited with saving the life of Lord Wolseley at Cawnpore during the Indian Mutiny. She was the daughter of Mary Dunne and Edward Doyle; the sister of Josephine, Kathleen and Edward. The family immigrated to America in 1913. Mary was an executive secretary in New York City for 15 years. In 1940, she married the late Alfred L. D'Isernia, Esq., a member of the New York Bar for over 60 years. Mary is survived by two loving sons, Brian Raphael of Panama City Beach and Alfred Louis, Jr. of Northport, NY; 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 3 nieces, and 3 great nieces and nephews who mourn her passing and will miss her sweet charm and extraordinary sense of humor everyday. Mary and Alfred raised their sons in New Rochelle, NY where Mary was a PTA member at Iona Grammar and High School, a member of the Don Bosco Guild, and a communicant at Holy Family Church. She moved to Bay Point, FL after Alfred's death in 1994 where she was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Mary dedicated her later years to contemplation and constant prayer for all in need of the Lord's mercy. Mary's great devotion to the Blessed Mother and the rosary will always be an inspiration to her large and loving family. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 9AM at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Jerzy Zieba, C.R. officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, February 27, 2009 from 6-8PM at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home. A rosary and prayer service will be held Monday, March 2, 2009 at 10AM at McGrath & Son Funeral Home; Interment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. LEVACHE, ELIZABETH

Elizabeth A. LeVache (nee Odry), 85, a longtime resident of Yorktown Hgts.
She was married 46 years to the late William who died on June 27, 2005.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday March 18th in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church at 9:45am.
Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
