Denis McCarthy, 77, passed away suddenly on February 28, 2015. Beloved husband of Anne. Loving father of Michael (Peggy), Martin (Krista) and Denis. Devoted brother of Sheila, Mick, Jimmy and Gretta. Loving uncle of many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his two sisters Mary and Josie.

Paula Astrolko Domestico, 70, a life-long resident of Port Chester, NY passed away unexpectedly on July 5, 2015 while vacationing in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. She was surrounded by family and friends. Paula was employed by Strauss Paper Company in Port Chester and was a graduate of Good Council Academy in White Plains and Nazareth College in Rochester, NY. Paula previously taught first grade at Horton School in the late '60s. Paula is survived by her son, Gregory, her daughter-in-law, Lea, grandson, Thomas and many cousins. Paula was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Adeline (Posillipo) Astrolko of Port Chester, her guardians, Dominick and Annamay Santoro and her husband, Gary Domestico.

Ann M. McGilton Butsko
POUGHKEEPSIE - Ann M. McGilton Butsko, 93, of Poughkeepsie died Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at The Pines in Poughkeepsie. Born November 19, 1914 in Rhinebeck, she was the daughter of Joseph McGilton and Emily Moore. Ann resided in Hyde Park for over 50 years, growing up on the FD Roosevelt estate where Fala was a frequent visitor to their home coming to look for treats whenever the president arrived in Hyde Park. She was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School in 1932 and from Krissler Business Institute. On November 25, 1939 at Regina Coeli Church, Ann married Edward L. Butsko. Mr. Butsko predeceased her on May 8, 1964. She was a homemaker for many years, was active with the Brownies and a Girl Scout leader, and volunteered at Regina Coeli School. She was employed by IBM in Kingston and retired in 1976. Ann was a parishioner of Regina Coeli Church, and then Good Shepherd Church in Rhinebeck. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Lyons and husband, David of Pleasant Valley; grandchildren, Emily Lyons of Pleasant Valley, Stephanie Lyons of Burbank, CA, Joshua Lyons of Lakewood, CO, Jason Lyons and his wife, Christine of Poughkeepsie; great grandchildren, Lexi and Kendra Lyons; and nephew, Anthony McGilton and wife, Carole of Henderson NV. She was predeceased by her sister, Kathleen McGilton and nephew, Eugene McGilton whose wife, Joann survives in Hopewell Jct. Ann enjoyed the equestrian activities of her daughter, granddaughter, and great granddaughters for many years. Visitation will be Sunday, 4-7 pm at Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, 10 a.m. by Father James Garisto at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Ann's memory to Equine Rescue: TAM Fund, c/o MLC, 731 Cold Spring Rd, Stanfordville, NY 12581.

Donald Catucci
POUGHKEEPSIE - Donald Catucci, 88, of the City of Poughkeepsie, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at his home, surrounded by his family. Mr. Catucci, who lived in Poughkeepsie for his entire life, was born on March 18, 1920, on a ship en route from Bari, Italy to Boston. He was a communicant and usher at Holy Trinity Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree, Chapter 1646 Wappingers Falls and other prayer groups and local right-to-life organizations. He retired in 1982, after 39 years service, from the Wappingers Falls School District, where he was the Food Service Director. The son of the late Giacomo Catucci and Maddalena Surico Catucci, he leaves behind four siblings: Frank Catucci of Clinton Corners, N.Y., James Catucci of Margaretville, N.Y., Isabel Sciacca of Poughkeepsie and Lillian Allers of Poughkeepsie. His other siblings, Paul Catucci, Erminia Catucci Gahan and John Catucci, passed away before him. He was the devoted father to Elizabeth and her husband, Howard Halstead of Poughkeepsie, Madalena and her husband, George Bator of Thornwood, N.Y., Kathryn Sherfinski of Federal Way, W.A. and Giacomo Catucci of Providence, R.I. Emily Orton Catucci Moran, who later passed away while living in Gardner, N.Y., was his wife from 1945 to 1963. He leaves 14 grandchildren, Christine Dick of Connelly, N.Y., Carol Ahmed of Newark, D.E, Charles Halstead of Barrington, N.H., Colleen Reilly of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Kim Tota of Clinton, N.J., Kristin Traina of Hartsdale, N.Y., Christopher Catucci of Warwick, R.I., Giacomo R. Catucci of Munich, Germany Michael Sherfinski of Tualatin, O.R., Jennifer Sherfinski of Warwick, R.I., Nick Catucci of Brooklyn, N.Y., Lindsay Bussoli of Boise, I.D., Nathan Sherfinski of Portland and Daniel Catucci of Brooklyn, N.Y. He also leaves 12 great-grandchildren. He was married to Sonia Edmonds Catucci from 1981 until her death in 2006, and leaves four stepchildren, David Edmonds of Poughkeepsie N.Y., Judy Pells of Wirtz, V.A., Heidi Maloney of Ruby, N.Y. and Mary McGill of Nashville, T.N. as well as 10 step-grandchildren. The family deeply appreciates the efforts of his daughter, Kathryn, granddaughter Lindsay and grandson-in-law, Brent, as well as Anne Gaffney and Kathleen Kelly, in caring for dad in his final year. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 6, at the William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 7, 9:45 a.m., at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main St., Poughkeepsie, NY followed by burial at St Peter's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Church and Hospice Foundation, 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

Army Specialist Michael A. Garren
FT. HOOD, TX - Army Specialist Michael A. Garren died at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas on June 2, 2008. Born on April 2, 1988 Michael was the much loved son of Jerry and Tammy Garren and the beloved brother of Matthew and David Garren, all of Staatsburg, NY. On November 11, 2006 Michael began to fulfill his longtime dream of being a soldier when he started training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. On March 23, 2007 Michael graduated as a 19D Cavalry Scout and was assigned to Charlie Troop, 4-9 CAV, 2nd Brigade, 1st Cavalry in Fort Hood, Texas. Shortly after arriving in Texas Michael was deployed to Iraq stationed at FOB Prosperity. His unit returned home from Iraq on January 10, 2008 where they began training for their next deployment to Iraq scheduled for January 2009. Michael is survived by his maternal great grandmother, Margaret Hunt of LaGrangeville, NY, his maternal grandfather Griffith Baxter of Millbrook, NY, his maternal grandparents Ronald & Edna DeLease of Lenoir, NC, and his paternal grandmother, Nancy Garren of Malone, NY. Michael is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his brothers in arms, the soldiers of First Cav, especially those he fought with in Iraq on the streets of Baghdad in 2007. Michael was predeceased by his maternal grandmothers, Bette DeLease and Marlene Baxter, and his paternal grandfather Bobby Leon Garren who will surely love him in Heaven as we all loved him on Earth. Michael was a generous and loving person who could light up a room with his smile. He had a great sense of humor and was a loyal friend to those who were lucky enough to count themselves among his friends. Michael was at his happiest when he was camping in the Adirondacks during the annual family vacations. He loved nothing more than to sit around the fire, barbecue, tube behind the boat, and anything at all that included hanging out with his family and friends. Michael was proud to be a soldier, proud to be a part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and proud to be the youngest member of American Legion Post 1302 (Arlington). Michael was as giving in death as he was in life donating his organs so that others might have a second chance. On June 3-4, Michael's gift saved the lives of five people one of whom was a soldier local to Fort Hood. Nothing would have thrilled him more. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Pm on both Monday, June 9th, and Tuesday, June 10th, at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Wednesday, June 11th, at Regina Coeli Church, Rte. 9, Hyde Park. Rev. Michael Palazzo will officiate. Burial with military honors will take place at 12 noon, Thursday, June 12th, at Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, NY. The funeral procession will be gathering at 9am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations in Michael's name be made to Soldiers' Angels, 1792 E. Emma Marchese
EAST FISHKILL - Emma Marchese, 79, a resident of Hopewell Junction for seven years and formerly of Brooklyn died on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at the Wingate at Beacon. Emma was born in White Haven, PA on July 15, 1928, the daughter of the late Sylvester and Mary Tomascovich Mazurek. She was a parishioner of St. Columba Church, Hopewell Junction and attended the East Fishkill Senior Center. Emma is survived by her son, John Marchese and his wife, Elizabeth of Stratford, CT; her daughter, Marianne Anastasio and her husband, Vincent of Hopewell Junction; her brother, Steven Mazurek of PA; and her grandchildren, Michael Marchese, Kristina Anastasio, Christine Marchese, Jennifer Anastasio, Vito Anastasio and Stephanie Marchese. She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent Marchese, on June 18, 2001. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Interment will follow in St. Raymond's Cemetery, Bronx.

Kathleen L. McGrath
MOUNT VERNON - Kathleen L. McGrath, 83, a lifelong resident of Mount Vernon, died on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at the Elant at Fishkill. Born on October 26, 1924 in Mount Vernon, she was the daughter of the late William J. McGrath and Grace Isabel Bates. She was employed for 50 years as a secretary for Travelers Insurance in New York City. Following her retirement, she faithfully took the bus from Fleetwood to the Bronxville Hospital where she volunteered with the Sisters. She was a member of St. Peter's Church in Mount Vernon, enjoyed needlepoint and knitting, and spent many memorable vacations on Cape Cod with her family. Kathleen is survived by her brother, William E. Greer of Fishkill; her niece, Nancy Mahoney of LaGrange; her nephew, William E. Greer, Jr. and his wife, Isobel of LaGrange; her greatnieces and nephews, Eileen and Michael Mauro, James and Michele Mahoney, Michael and Paula Greer and Lisa Greer; her great, great nieces and nephews, Michael Mauro, Jr., Maggie Mauro, Harrison and Hannah Greer, Seamus Mahoney and Sean Durando; and her cousins, Wallace Kaye and family, and George Kaye and family of Millerton. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Gladys Greer and her cousin, Linda Kaye. The family would like to thank the staff at the Elant at Fishkill for their wonderful care of Kathleen during the last four years. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, followed by interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla.
