GOODYEAR, JANE ROSE LAPENNA

Jane Rose LaPenna Goodyear, a resident of Port Chester for sixty years and recently of Darien died on January 25, 2009. Born on February 7, 1916, in Liverpool, NY. Jane Goodyear graduated from Oswego State Normal School in 1936, and began a lifetime of teaching in a one room schoolhouse in Liverpool, NY. She went on to continue her education at NYU. She is best remembered for her years of service in the Port Chester School System by many generations of elementary school children. She taught at Edison and Park Avenue schools before becoming part of the first class of teachers to move from Park Avenue to the newly built King Street School. She taught at King Street from its opening until her retirement. She was especially proud of the original plays that she wrote, which her elementary school classes performed every year. She was honored when the Village of Port Chester asked her to have her class perform a special Centennial Anniversary play that she had written to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the incorporation of the Village of Port Chester. In her retirement she was always greeted with a cheerful "Hello Mrs. Goodyear" from her many former students of all ages as she went about her errands in Port Chester and the surrounding area. She was active in the order of the Eastern Star throughout her lifetime in Port Chester, and was a former Grand Matron. She was married on January 23, 1937 to Herman E. Goodyear, who predeceased her. Surviving children are a daughter, Eleanor Goodyear Kreuch and a son, Herman E. Goodyear. A daughter, Elaine H. Goodyear predeceased her. She is also survived by three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Services and interment are private. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Tamarack Tower Foundation, P.O. Box 1718, Port Chester, NY 10573.

BRENNAN, KEVIN J.

Kevin J. Brennan, 37, of Stony Point, passed away suddenly on December 14, 2008. He was born on February 5, 1971 in Brooklyn, NY to Thomas and Catherine (Lynch) Brennan. Kevin was employed by Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists. Kevin was a devoted brother, uncle, and friend. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother James. Kevin is survived by his sisters Anne and Mary, and his brothers Patrick, Stephen and Thomas. Also surviving are his sister-in-law Monica, three nieces, five nephews, aunts, uncles, many cousins and friends, and his kooky old dog Bobby. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Kevin on Friday, December 19 at 10:15AM at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church in Stony Point with Burial to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in Haverstraw, NY. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7-9 PM and Thursday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Higgins Funeral Home, Stony Point. Kevin was a member of the Haverstraw Elks and Elks services will be held on Wednesday at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Haverstraw Elks Scholarship Fund. DERISO, MARIE E.

Marie M. DeRiso passed away on December 15, 2008 surrounded by her family. Marie was born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Alex and Lucy DeRiso. She worked in the health care industries for over thirty five years, first as a registered nurse and later as an administrator. She worked at Terrence Cardinal Cooke Heath Care Center formerly Flower Hospital, then at St. Agnes Hospital in White Plains before becoming the Assistant Vice President at Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle for the past 12 years. Her warm and generous spirit touched everyone she met. She celebrated each day to the fullest. She is survived by her daughter Aki Kamozawa and her husband Alex Talbot; her new granddaughter Whitney Amaya; several cousins and was a loving aunt to many nieces. Visiting Thursday 4-8pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Pl, New Rochelle. A funeral mass is scheduled for Friday 10:30am at St. Gabriel's Church. Interment private.

CALAUTTI, MARY

Born in Rome, New York on May 7, 1918 to Michael Rossi and Josephine (Sanzone) Rossi. Mary moved to Brooklyn, New York at age 12 to live with her mother and stepfather, John Fuda. She married Rocco Calautti on December 20, 1942 and they had five children. Mary moved to Rockland County in 1970 after the death of her beloved husband. Mary is survived by her five children and their spouses: Nancy (Bill) Steiner, Pomona, NY; Jo (Tom) Iadisernia, Pomona, NY; Dominick (Pat) Calautti, Dutton, VA; Michael (Linda) Calautti, Augusta, GA and John (Jean) Calautti, No. Attlebourough, MA, 16 grandchildren, Dawn (John) Rolando, Justine (Johnny) Ferrer, David (Gigi) Steiner, Tommy (Toni) Iadisernia, Lea (Mike) Bell, Donna (David) DeLarm, Danielle (Steven) Givens, Doreen (Jim) McGovern, Shannon (Aric) Singletary, Mary (Brian) Loos, Rosie Calautti, Rocky Calautti, Melanie (Tad) Waddell, Michael (Natasha) Calautti, Devin Calautti and Brendan Calautti and 36 great-grandchildren as well as three sisters, Tresa Hastings, Lucy Taylor, Mary Delvecchio, three brothers, Patsy Rossi, Tony Rossi, and Michael Rossi, Jr. and four sisters-in-law, Vincy LaRosa, Gloria Kull, Mary Forgione and Florence Buscemi. Mary worked as a nurse's aide at Ramapo Hospital, Spring Valley, NY, Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern, NY and retired from Letchworth Village in 1983. Mary loved to spend time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, playing canasta with her friends, and crocheting. She was a member of the Bon Aire seniors in Wesley Hills and was a parishioner at St. Boniface Church in Wesley Hills, NY. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to United Hospice of Rockland, New City, NY. DILAZZARO, MARIE T.

Marie T. DiLazzaro (Mary) a life-long resident of Yonkers died Sunday at St. John's Hospital Peacefully. Marie was 81 years of age. Born to Anthony and Theresa DeRosa DiLazzaro. Loving and caring sister of Virginia DiLazzaro whom Marie lived with for many endearing years and Louis DiLazzaro of Danbury CT. Marie was employed for 21 years at St. Joseph's Medical Center as a dispenser and was well received for her professional way and respected by many of her co-workers. Her sister Virginia said that Marie will be dearly missed, not only as a loving sister but a great friend and companion. JENNINGS, MICHAEL F.

Michael F. Jennings, son of Shirley and John Jennings, grandson of Edward and Estella McGovern, died Sunday, December 14, 2008 at his home. Born in Yonkers, NY on August 28, 1948. Michael graduated from Hastings High School. He was a custodian for Dobbs Ferry schools and had many honors dedicated to him by the students. He was a parishioner of St. Columbanus Parish, Cortlandt Manor, NY. He is survived by his wife Carol Jennings and daughters Victoria, Ashley and Dawn, his sister, Estelle of Cortlandt Manor, NY and brothers John and his wife Ginger of Supply, NC, Patrick and his wife Alma of PA, and Daniel of Livingston, NY. He will be missed dearly by his cherished nieces and nephews. Michael will always be remembered for his fun-loving sense of humor. A Mass will be held at St. Columbanus Parish on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Phelps Memorial Hospice.

EARLE, KATHY M.

Kathy M. Earle, 57 of Peekskill, NY passed away on December 15, 2008. Mrs. Earle worked at Wal-Mart in Mohegan Lake for the past ten years as an invoice clerk; she previously worked at Woolworth's at the Beach Shopping Center, Peekskill. Kathy was born on May 12, 1951 in Troy, PA. On September 5, 1969 she married Robert Jeffrey Earle in Sylvania, PA. She is survived by her husband Robert "Jeff" Earle, two children; Terri (Andy) Newkirk of Parker, CO and Rob Earle of Wappingers Falls, NY, and four grandchildren, Kirsten, Jenna and Zack Newkirk and Christopher Earle. Also surviving are four sisters, and father-in-law Robert "Bob" Earle. Predeceased by, her parents, Frank and Ruth Burleigh and a brother Thomas. Visitation is Thursday, 6pm to 8pm at the JOSEPH F.
