Luther Songer

Luther Blackfeather Songer died on May 30, 2012 in Oklahoma City.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at the home of Jimmy and Rita Songer, 36560 East West 1190, Wewoka, OK 74884.

Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on May 23, 2012 to Jimmy Joe and Rita Ann Songer in Oklahoma City.

He is preceded in death by his great-great grandfather, Solomon Kent, last hereditary Chief of the Iowa Nation; paternal great-grandfather, Robert Albert Whitley, Sr.; paternal great-grandmother, Rebecca Ruth Wilson (Kent); paternal grandfather, Jimmy Ray Songer; and paternal grandmother, Dorothy Dell Homan.

He is survived by his parents, Jimmy and Rita Ann Songer; maternal grandfather, Johnny Bass, of Shawnee; maternal grandmother, Glena Sue Whitley, of Shawnee; paternal great-grandmother, Lela Starnes Songer; three brothers, Isaiah Robert Songer, Kiamiachi Crow Songer, and Elijah Hawk Songer, of Cromwell; and three sisters, Sydeny Cheyenne Songer, of California, Shawnee Raven Songer, of Cromwell, and Amber Marie Pearl Songer, of Cromwell.

Bobby Spears

Bobby Joe Spears age 39 years of Wewoka passed away in Shawnee, Monday, March 12, 2012.

Born November 11, 1972 in Harper, Kansas to Edward Francis Spears and Bonnie Deonna (Allen) Spears. He graduated from Chaparrall High School in Anthony, Kansas. Bob then continued his education and graduated with a bachelor of Science from Oklahoma State University. He then attended Concord Baptist Institute Seminary school.

Bobby married Cassie Michele Palmer October 25, 2003. He was an avid OSU sports fan and enjoyed hunting, playing guitar, singing, visiting and getting to know people. Bobby was the Pastor of the Mission Home Missionary Baptist Church of Wewoka. He enjoyed playing ball with Owen and spending time with his family and friends. Bobby was a very helpful and positive person who will be missed greatly by all.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents; Marion and Leona Spears and grandfather Jessie Beryl Allen.

Bobby is survived by his wife Cassie, children; Owen Wesley, Avery Grace, Isaac Daniel and an unborn child all of Wewoka, parents; Edward Francis and Bonnie Deonna Spears of Harper, KS, sisters; Ronica Deon and husband Randy Rhude of Platte City, MO, Leona June Spears and husband Shwan Ali of Keller, TX and brother Eddy Lee Spears and wife Vanessa of Wichita, KS.

Mother and father in law; Dan and Dianne Palmer of Mustang, OK and brother in law; Jeff Palmer of Mustang, Ok.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Wewoka First Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Raines officiating. Burial will be 3:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Stillwater, OK.

Pallbearers are Eddy Spears, Shwan Ali, Randy Rhude, Mick McCann, Dave Eslinger, and Justin Dills. Honorary Pallbearers are the Men of Mission Home Baptist Church, Wewoka.

Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Wewoka, Oklahoma.

Sybil Springer

Longtime Seminole county resident Sybil Clydine Springer passed away Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 in Shawnee at the age of 93.

Clydine was born Sept. 24, 1918 in Mitchell County, Texas, to parents, Charles Sutphen and Anna Lee (Ray) Sutphen.

She moved to Seminole in 1985 from Lovington, New Mexico.

Clydine was a homemaker who loved to sew, knit and cook for her family.

Clydine is survived by one brother, Charles Sutphen of Texas; six grandchildren, Doyle and his wife Joann Morris of Seminole, Debbie and her husband Ken Wimer of Mcloud, David and his wife Sherie Morris of Bay City, Michigan, Darrell and his wife Traci Morris of Fredonia, Kansas, Randy and his wife Julie Locke of Aurora, Colorado and Rusty and his wife Kelli Locke of Howe, Texas. She is also survived by 20 great grandchildren, 35 great great grandchildren and five great great great grandchildren.

Clydine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Springer; daughter, Willa Dean Morris; sons, Leldon Doyle Locke, Herschel Eugene Locke, four brothers and two sisters.

Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2012 at Maple Grove Cemetery with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Ronald Stacy

Ronald Vernon Stacy, 70, of Lake Eufaula area, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012 at the Shawnee Care Center.

Ronald was born March 19, 1942 in Maud to Vollie Orville and Alta Mae (Armstrong) Stacy.

Ronald was retired from working in the oilfield.

He was an avid motorcycle rider and loved to ride with his motorcycle "Buddies" Clay and Fred. He had a passion for cars and loved to rebuild them.

He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved very much.

Stacy is survived by Ron Stacy Jr. and his wife Sherri of Shawnee; a daughter, Angela Newby and her husband Ben Newby of Shawnee; grandchildren, Ashley Goforth and her husband Kyle, and Faith and Oliva Stacy all of Shawnee; His great grandchildren Blaklee & Ryder Goforth of Shawnee also survive him; a sister, Betty Walker of Maud, Barbara Dooley of Locust Grove and a brother, Jim Stacy and his wife Ann of Shawnee and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.

His parents and brother Harvey Stacy preceded him in death.

Funeral services are planned for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leroy Kerbo officiating.

Honorary casket bearers will be Johnny Maxwell, Fred Statton, Robbie Reed, Clay Baysden and Johnny Little.

Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Carl Stailey Jr.

Life long Seminole county resident, Carl "Buster" Stailey, Jr. died April 11, 2012 in Tecumseh.

He was born April 19, 1918 to parents, Carl Cole Stailey and Grace (Welcher) Stailey in Seminole.

He began his career in pipeline work in 1932 at the age of 14. He retired in 1980 as a pipe fitter. He worked for El Paso Natural Gas and Rivers Pipeline Construction.

He married Ruby Lee (Parsons) Stailey on April 17, 1946 in Perryton, Texas.

He is survived by wife, Ruby Stailey and one brother, Richard Stailey of Washington State.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Grace Stailey and two sisters, Emily and May.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bruce Benson officiating. Burial will take place at Little Cemetery, Little.

Casket bearers are Frank Carter, Bryan Rawls, Stephen Rawls, Tracy Bryant, Terry Bryant and Don Dorn.

Honorary bearers are Tim Parsons, Jeff Parsons, Michael Ray Hahn and Wayne Bryant.

Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Donivee Stallings

Donivee Stallings was born July 21, 1926 to Ira Alexander and Cassie Mae Darnall in Bristow, Oklahoma. She died Tuesday, Jan 31, 2012 in Spring field Missouri at the age of 85.

She attended Seminole Public Schools before moving back to Bristow in 1958.

She married Harold Campbell in 1941, he preceded her in death in 1944. Later she married Elmer Cathey in 1946, he preceded her in death in 1964. On March 30, 1967, she was married to Thomas E. Williams, he preceded her in death in 1973. On Feb 12, 1974, she was united in marriage to Bert W. Stallings, he preceded her in death in 1997.

She is survived by two daughters, Zaida Campbell Jackson of Bristow and Judy Cathey Kendrick of Okemah; one son, Larry Cathey of Ozark, Missouri; ten grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Cecil and Kenneth Darnell; one sister, Marjorie Azlin; one son, Jerry Campbell; one grandson, Max Campbell and one great grandson, Steven Campbell.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, Feb 6, 2012 at the Hutchins – Maples Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Roger White officiating. Interment will follow at the Resthaven Cemetery near Seminole.

Bobby Stanberry

Bobby Allen Stanberry, 76 year-old, longtime Seminole County resident died Monday, June 4, 2012 in Ada.

He was born Dec. 16, 1935 in Centralhoma, Oklahoma to parents Oral Stanberry and Lucy (Hembree) Stanberry.

Following High School he served in the United States Army as a paratrooper.

He then worked as a pipeline X-ray Tec. and a carpenter until his retirement.

He married Betty Foster on April 15, 1958 in Reno, Nevada.

Survivors include his wife, Betty (Foster) Stanberry of the home; two sons, Robert Stanberry of Meeker and Mike Stanberry of Wolf; three daughters, Paulette Fennell of Del City, Robin Turnbow of Maud, Debbie Donahue of Wolf; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; one sister and one infant daughter, Paulette Beth Stanberry.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole. Interment will follow at Wolf Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

David Starr

David Dean Starr age 43 years passed away Monday, July 23rd, 2012 at St Francis Hospital in Tulsa.

He was born Oct. 3, 1968 in Wewoka to Daniel and Nell (Billie) Starr.

He attended New Lima Schools and was a member of Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church.

He was baptized Dec. 25, 1987 by Rev. Joe Spain.

Wake service will be 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimpsey Harjo officiating.

The body will be taken to Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church at 4:00 Thursday July 26, 2012 for a 7:30 p.m. Wake Service.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2012 at Sand Creek Eufaula with Rev. Houston Tiger and Rev Mitchell Taylor officiating, with burial at Oakwood Cemetery.

Preceding David in death his father, Daniel; grandparents, Eli and Lena Starr, Joe and Louisa Billie; two brothers, Danny and Louie Starr; three aunts and four uncles.

Survivors include companion, Joyce Harjo; mother, Nell Starr; daughter, Anna Harjo of San Franisco, CA; sisters, LaQuita Starr of Konawa, Robin Starr of Duncan; two brothers, Terry Starr and Michael Starr both of Wewoka; grandson, Daniel Harjo; great-great aunt, Naomi Jacobs of OKC; great-great uncle, Thomas Billie Sr. of Konawa; special aunts, Sally Jackson, Emma Starr; nieces, Teresa and Stefanie Starr both of Seminole; nephews, John Starr of Wewoka, Matthew Armstrong of Konawa; great niece, Ania Armstrong-Big hog; great nephew, Dayton Maples-Dirty, Makyah Maples-Mr Clean, Jonas Carpitcher-Little J; and Alonzo McGuire -Snowman.

Pallbearers will be Jason Tiger, Houston Tiger Jr., Jon Maples, Stanley Johnson II, John Starr, and Matthew Armstrong.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Terry Starr, Michael Starr, Wallace Cully, Gregory Tiger, Jimmy Tiger, and Benny Tiger.

Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Shirley Stephens

Shirley Sue Stephens, age 72 of Cromwell, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012 in Seminole.

She was born Nov. 24, 1939 in Dibble, Okla., to Ruel Huston Smith and Grace Belle (Wilbanks) Smith.

She was raised in the Dibble and Purcell area and graduated from Purcell High School in 1958.

She married Kenneth Joe Owings on Nov. 1, 1958.

She worked as a homemaker.

She later married Billy Gene Stephens in 1982.

She moved to Cromwell in 1988 and have remained there since.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Kenneth Owings; her brother, Kenneth "Don" Smith; her great granddaughter, Camryn Owings; her nephew, Donald Lynn Smith and brother-in-law, Fred Beck.

She is survived by her husband, Bill "BG" Stephens of the home; her daughter, Kenna Campbell of Bethel; three sons, Kent Owings of Bethany, Kelly Owings of Lexington, and Bill "BJ" Stephens of Seminole; her sister, Norma Jean Beck of Mountain View, AR; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
