Rachael P. Weidner
RICHFIELD - Rachael P. Weidner, infant daughter of Scott W. and Michelle (Leitzel) Weidner of Richfield RR1, died shortly after birth, Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. She is survived by: sisters, Amanda M. Weidner and Elizabeth N. Weidner, both at home; maternal grandparents, David W. and Janice Leitzel, Richfield RR1; paternal grandparents, Samuel and Joanne Kint, Mifflintown RR4 and Cheryl and Wilson Weidner Jr., Thompsontown RR1; maternal great-grandmother, Gladys Leitzel, HCR, Cocolamus; paternal great-grandmothers, Anna Weidner, Pottstown and Alma Stuck, Richfield RR1. She was preceded in death by maternal great-grandfather, William Leitzel; maternal great-grandparents, Ruby and Guy Winey; and paternal great-grandfathers, Wilson Weidner Sr. and William Stuck. Private graveside services will be held at Neimond's Cemetery, Richfield RR1. The George P. Garman Funeral Home Inc., Mount Pleasant Mills, is in charge of arrangements.

Beaulah E. Wendt
MOUNT PLEASANT MILLS - Beaulah Ellanore Wendt, 87, of Mount Pleasant Mills RR1, died at 1:25 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at her home. Born July 16, 1913, in Susquehanna Township, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine M. (Brown) Phillips. Her husband, Winebert William Wendt, whom she married Oct. 17, 1931, died Sept. 21, 1982. Also surviving are: children, Henry W. Wendt, Mount Pleasant Mills RR2, Addis P. Wendt, Mrs. Glen (Leatha A.) Sheaffer, and Mrs. Donald E. (Dolores M.) Bickhart Jr., all of Mount Pleasant Mills RR1; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by an infant brother and a brother, Henry L. Phillips; and four sisters, Kathryn Criley, Mildred Ernest, Emma Spriggle, and Alma Phillips and was also preceded in death by two daughters, Ellanore M. Lenig on May 9, 1974 and Mary A. Troutman on July 4, 1995; three grandsons, Patrick Lenig in 1973, Malcolm Lenig in 1985, and Dale Sheaffer in 1990. She was educated in the Oriental schools, Susquehanna Township, Juniata County. She assisted her husband in farming and they also operated a fruit farm. She was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Mount Pleasant Mills and its Womens Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Fremont Volunteer Fire Co., Mount Pleasant Mills; the Richfield Ambulance League; and the Reliance Hose Co. Ambulance League, Middleburg; and the Medic 55, Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. She loved to farm and tend her garden and was especially known for her pie-baking skills. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Mount Pleasant Mills, with Pastor James E. Lewis officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Mills. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today at the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant Mills. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, c/o Box 76 RR2, Mount Pleasant Mills, PA 17853 or to SUN Home Health Services Inc. 61 Duke St., PO Box 232, Northumberland, PA 17857.

Mahlon T. Wengerd
MIFFLINTOWN - Mahlon T. Wengerd, 6, of Mifflintown RR2 died Friday, June 2, 2000 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville because of accidental drowning. Born July 30, 1993 in Delaware Township, Juniata County, he was a son of Sollie S. and Lavina R. (Swarey) Wengerd of Mifflintown RR2 who survive. Also surviving are brothers and sisters, John, Rudy, Orpha, Ruth, Lena and Sadie Wengerd, all at home, grandparents Alvin M. and Lydia E. Wengerd of Mifflintown RR2 and Alta Swarey of Mill Creek, and a step-great-grandmother, Mary Peachey of Myerstown. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rhoda M. Wengerd. Services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at the Sollie Wengerd residence. Interment will be in the Old Order Amish Cemetery, Van Wert. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday for a viewing at the Sollie Wengerd residence. Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, is in charge of arrangements.

Gerald B. Wert
MIFFLINTOWN - Gerald B. Wert, 87, of Village Drive, Mifflintown, formerly of Locust Run, died at 5:43 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at the Lewistown Hospital. Born Sept. 7, 1913, in Juniata County, he was a son of the late Samuel V. and Junie (Bashore) Wert. His wife, Mabel (Sieber) Wert, whom he married Nov. 14, 1936, survives. Also surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Rita) Zeigler, Millerstown; sisters, Fay McCormick, Mifflintown and Carol Jean Conner, Belleville, Ill.; two grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Karl Wert, Wilbur Wert, and Dane Wert. He was a 1932 graduate of Mifflintown High School. He was a very active member of the Centre Lutheran Church, Mifflintown. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Centre Lutheran Church, Mifflintown, with the Rev. Louise Reynolds officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Union Cemetery. There will be no viewing. Memorial contributions may be made to: Centre Lutheran Church, RR2, Box 165, Mifflintown, PA 17059. Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret V. Wert
LEWISTOWN - Margaret V. Wert, 90, a resident of Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin, formerly of 602 Chris Ave., Lewistown, died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Sept. 6, 1910, in Six Mile Run, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Elizabeth (Lane) Roarabaugh. Her husband, John C. Wert, died in 1960. Surviving are: a daughter, Rachel Jean Wert Burkholder, 350 Logan St., Lewistown; sister and brothers, Mrs. John (Marge) Ketner, Tyrone, Clair Roarabaugh, Martinsburg, and Don Roarabaugh, Black Lick; and one grandson. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Dorothy Louise Wert, five brothers and two sisters. She was employed in the cake converting department at FMC, retiring in 1972 with 44 years of service. She attended Highland Park Presbyterian Church. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with Murray W. Laite officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: Locust Grove Retirement Village, HCR 67, Mifflin, PA 17058.

Margaret A. 'Peg' Wetzel
LEWISBURG - Margaret A. "Peg" Wetzel, 89, formerly of Lewistown and Mifflinburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at RiverWoods, Lewisburg. Born April 17, 1911, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Tressie (Baker) Wagner. Her husband of 55 years, Julius R. Wetzel, died May 11, 1991. Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. P. Dale (Susan M.) Boop, Mifflinburg; brothers and sisters, Harry Wagner and Mrs. Dave (Hope) Downing, both of Reedsville, Jay Wagner and Dick Wagner, both of Lewistown, Jean Hetrick, Delaware, and Mrs. Jay (Betty) Miller, Clearfield; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She attended the Milroy schools. She and her husband owned and operated the Wetzel Jewelry Store in Mifflinburg 1949-1989. She was also a receptionist for Dr. Musser and Dr. Ward in Mifflinburg during the 1950s. She was a member of the Mifflinburg United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing and knitting. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Rock Cemetery, Lewistown, with the Rev. Ron Warfle officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mifflinburg United Methodist Church, 279 Market St., Mifflinburg, PA 17844 or to the Mifflinburg Hose Company, 325 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, PA 17844. The Roupp Funeral Home Inc., East Chestnut Street, Mifflinburg, is in charge of arrangements.

Leslie R. White
EAST WATERFORD - Leslie R. White, 18, of East Waterford, died this past week in Floyd County, Virginia. Born Feb. 25, 1982, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of George R. and Shawnee G. (Earnest) White of East Waterford. Also surviving are: brothers and sisters, Angela R. White, Sherry A. White and George Ross White, all at home; paternal grandparents, Raymond and Anna Jane (Varnes) White, East Waterford; maternal grandparents, Ray S. and Betty J. (Shives) Earnest, East Waterford RR1; and maternal great-grandmother, Rebecca Varnes. She was a member of Class of 2000 at Juniata High School, where she delivered the valedictory speech at graduation ceremonies. She was currently enrolled at Harrisburg Area Community College in the photo-journalism curriculum. She worked in the photo lab at the Wal-Mart in Mechanicsburg and she worked as a skilled photographer on a movie set during the past summer. She was a member of the East Waterford United Methodist Church. She enjoyed photography, poetry and singing. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the East Waterford United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Don Walters officiating. Interment will be in the East Waterford Cemetery. There will be no public viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: East Waterford United Methodist Church, c/o Helen Robinson, treasurer, East Waterford, PA 17021 . The Henry Funeral Home, Honey Grove, is in charge of arrangements.

Clarence A. 'Andy' Whiteman
LEWISTOWN - Clarence A. "Andy" Whiteman, 57, of 124 W. Market St., Lewistown, died at 9:52 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2000, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital. Born May 4, 1943, in Lewistown, he was a son of Ethel M. (Lehman) Whiteman of 124 W. Market St., Lewistown and the late William John Whiteman. Also surviving are: brothers and sister, James N. Shotzberger, Floral Park, Long Island, NY, Beatrice M. Stimely, Burnham and Charles W. Whiteman, South Main Street, Lewistown. Early in life he worked for Fisher Electronics and later for the laundry department of Lewistown Hospital for more than 25 years. He was a member of the Lewistown Moose Lodge 143, City Hook and Ladder, Fame Fire Company, Brooklyn Hose Company, a trustee of the Owls Club, was a social member of American Legion Post 90 and VFW Post 7011, and a member of the Clubsman Federation Association. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Major Herbert Hamilton, ret, officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where Moose services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewistown Hospital, 400 Highland Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044.
