Paul A. 'Rub' Whitesel
MIFFLIN - Paul A. "Rub" Whitesel, 81, of HC 67 Mifflin, died at 4:37 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2000, at the Lewistown Hospital. Born March 17, 1919, in Beale Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Russell W. and Mary (Hopple) Whitesel. His wife, Dorothy M. Whitesel, died March 12, 1999. Surviving are: a companion, Virginia Naylor, HC 67, Mifflin; sons, Harold E. Whitesel, Richfield RR1 and Richard A. Whitesel, HC 67, Mifflin; brother and sisters, Blair Whitesel, HC 67 Mifflin, Anna Copenhaver, Lock Haven RR1 and Pearl Smith, Port Royal RR2; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and five sisters. Early in life, he was a self-employed sawmill operator. He retired as a lumberjack for J.M. Junk Lumber Co., Honey Grove. He was a member of Beale Township Fire Co., the Central Juniata EMS and the Lewistown Hospital ALS. He was an avid gardener, specializing in flowers and yard work. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Henry Funeral Home, Honey Grove, with the Rev. Glenn Smith officiating. Interment will be in the McCulloch's Mills Cemetery. Friends may call noon-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will be present 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to: the American Cancer Society, Mifflin-Juniata Unit, 112 N. Wayne St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

William J. 'Bill' Wiand
BEAVER SPRINGS - William J. "Bill" Wiand, 79, of Beaver Springs RR1, died at 1:05 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. Born Feb. 2, 1921, in Spring Township, Snyder County, he was the son of the late Banks E. and Ida (Konawel) Wiand. His wife, Charlotte E. (Beaver) Wiand, whom he married in 1942, survives. Also surviving are: nieces and nephews, Betty Bowersox, Beaver Springs, Delores Wilson and Jerre "Stecker" Aumiller, both of Beavertown RR1, Sandra Adams, McClure RR2, and Linda Wagner, New Cumberland. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Herbster. He farmed the family farm until 1999. He was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Beaver Springs. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Adamsburg Cemetery, Beaver Springs, with the Rev. Marion Smith and the Rev. David Meckley officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to: Christ United Church of Christ, Beaver Springs, PA 17812. The Aurand Funeral Homes, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, is in charge of arrangements.

H. Gerald Wike
GRANVILLE - H. Gerald Wike, 86, a resident of Malta Home, Granville, formerly of 173 Pannebaker Ave., Lewistown, died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 2000, at the home. Born Aug. 13, 1913, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Ira B. and Annie (Yingst) Wike. His wife, Arletta M. "Artie" Wike, died June 1, 1993. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Niles "Skip" (Gerry) Leeper, 232 Greenbriar Road, Lewistown; a son, Rick E. Wike, 7736 Althea Ave., Harrisburg; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by a sister, Olive Dippery and a brother, Byron Wike. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific in the US Navy SeaBees. He was employed as a maintenance supervisor for FMC Corp., Lewistown. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the American Legion in Dunbar and the American Association of Retired Persons. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Juniata Memorial Park, with the Rev. John S. Walters officiating. There will be no viewing. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice. Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.

Austin H. Willi Sr.
PORT ROYAL - Austin H. Willi Sr., 77, of 816 Milford St., Port Royal, died at 11:38 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born Aug. 4, 1923, in Mexico, he was a son of the late Oscar A. and Edith M. (Page) Willi. His wife, Marjorie E. (Feaster) Willi, whom he married May 22, 1946, survives. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Donald (Marilyn) Bell, HC 63 Mifflintown, and Austin H. Willi Jr., Enola; a brother, Earl Willi, Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one sister, Esther Sheriff Henry. He was a 1942 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown. He served in the U.S. Navy as a signalman during World War II aboard LCI 517. His ship carried troops across the English Channel during the Normandy Invasion. He was a former manager at Clasters Lumber Company, Lewistown and manager at Juniata Lumber and Supply Company, Mifflintown from its founding until his retirement. He was a trustee of the Grace United Methodist Church, Mexico and a member and former president of the Mifflintown Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and family gatherings. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with the Rev. Barbara A. Inch officiating. Interment will be in New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal, where graveside military services will be conducted by the Juniata County Veterans Council. Visitation with closed casket will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church, c/o Lee Lockard, Treasurer, RR5, Box 395, Mifflintown, PA 17059.

Dwight D. Willi
MECHANICSBURG - Dwight D. Willi, 43, of 1133 Siddonsburg Road, Mechanicsburg, formerly of Mexico (Port Royal), died of natural causes Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at Hershey Medical Center. Born Jan. 16, 1957, in Lewistown, he was the son of Earl R. Willi of Mechanicsburg and the late D. Elizabeth (Fields) Willi. His wife, Lora L. (Hoffman) Willi, survives. Also surviving are: two sisters, Gisele M. Knisly, Port Royal and Susan A. Bryner, Honey Grove; half brother, Mick C. McKnight, Port Royal; stepmother, Mary E. Willi, Mechanicsburg; and nieces and nephews. He was a 1976 graduate of Juniata Joint High School. He was formerly employed by Diller Landscaping, Mechanicsburg. He was a member of Country and Town Baptist Church, Mechanicsburg, the National Rifle Association, and the Williams Grove Steam Engine Association. He participated in the Lisburn Fire Co. Tractor Parade Shows and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Services will be held at noon Saturday at the Country and Town Baptist Church, 1822 S. Market St., Upper Allen Township, Route 114, Mechanicsburg, with the Rev. Charles Teague officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing, but family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Feiser Funeral Home Inc., 306 Harrisburg St., East Berlin and from 11 a.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the church.

Bernice C. Wilson
MCALEVY'S FORT - Bernice C. Wilson, 84, of Huntingdon RR2, (McAlevys Fort), died at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at J. C. Blair Hospital. Born March 22, 1916, in South Fork, she was the daughter of the late Samuel A. and Anna P. (Craig) Bracken. Her husband, Theodore L. Wilson, whom she married Nov. 28, 1934, survives. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Samuel (Betty Ann) Bagshaw, Huntingdon RR2, Mary Joyce Joll, Munhall, Gary Lee Wilson, Petersburg RR1; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Galen L. Wilson, on Feb. 22, 1977; two sisters and three brothers, Mary Boyer, Iola Varner, Earl Bracken, John Bracken and Millard Bracken. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church, McAlevy's Fort. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at the Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, 3813 W. Main St., Belleville, with J. Daniel Morris officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephens Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Stone Creek Valley Fire Company, RR1 Box 692, Petersburg, PA 16669.

Blair E. Wilson
BETHLEHEM - Blair E. Wilson, 66, of Bethlehem, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at the Muhlenberg Hospital Center, Bethlehem. Born May 30, 1934, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Blair M. and Ellen (Short) Wilson. His wife, Grace (Dimeo) Wilson, whom he married April 7, 1956, survives. Also surviving are: children, Kathleen McNelis, Steve Wilson and Michael Wilson, all of Bethlehem, Teresa Schellenberg, Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Michael (Mary) Prebosnyak, Bethlehem Township; sisters, Mary Lou Mayes, Harrisburg, and Patricia Anna and Sara Ellen Cuff, both of Lewistown; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Wilson. He was a branch manager of Lance Snack Foods Incorporated for 30 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Notre Dame Catholic Church, Bethlehem and the Knights of Columbus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Saturday at the Notre Dame Catholic Church, 1861 Catasaque Road, Bethlehem. Interment will be in the Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Friends may call 10:15-11:15 a.m. Saturday at the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem. Joseph D. Wilson Sr.
MILL CREEK - Joseph D. Wilson Sr., 58, of HCR 61, Mill Creek, died at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at Altoona Hospital. Born Jan. 31, 1942, in Allensville, he was the son of the late John Frank and Isabelle Ida (Sausman) Wilson. His wife, Carole Louise (Bailey) Wilson, whom he married June 17, 1962, survives. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Andrew (Annette) Chope, Ft. Campbell, Ky., Mrs. David (Lisa) Wilson-Briggs, Mill Hall, Joseph D. Wilson Jr., HCR 61, Mill Creek, and John Frank Wilson, Lock Haven; brothers and sisters, Helen Parsons, McClure, John Frank Wilson Jr., Huntingdon, Jacob Thomas Wilson, Lewistown, James Wilson, Isabelle Hartman, and John Reed Wilson, all of New Bloomfield, Kenneth Wilson, Newport, and David Wilson, Loysville; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters. He was a tractor trailer driver for Aero Trucking of Monroeville for 20 years. He was a member of the Allensville Presbyterian Church, Allensville. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Allensville Presbyterian Church, 126 E. Main St., Allensville, with the Rev. Geoffrey A. Huish officiating. Interment will be in the Allensville Presbyterian Cemetery, Allensville. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, 1106 Mifflin St., Huntingdon and from noon until the time of services Friday at the church.
