Born Dec. 10, 1910, in Chambersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles C. and Bess L. Metz Frey.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Renner W. Fegans, in 1996.

She was a 1928 graduate of Chambersburg High School.

She was employed by the Chambersburg Borough from 1950 to 1956, York Bank and Trust in the 1960s, and retired from a bank in Silver Spring, Md., in 1968.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ.

She was a member of Martha Custis Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Houser of Dover; two sons, Eugene Fegans of Dayton, Ohio, and Charles Fegans of Sparks, Nev.; a sister, Betty Schmidt of Chambersburg; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg. The Rev. Stephen W. Hoffman will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Arrangements are by Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg.

Janet P. Pepple

QUINCY, Pa. - Janet P. Miller Pepple, 82, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home and formerly of 11892 Old Route 16, Rouzerville, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, May 19, 2000, at the nursing home.

Born July 23, 1917, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Oliver W. and Bertha M. Kauffman Miller.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Pepple, in 1958. They were married June 22, 1936.

She attended Waynesboro schools.

She did domestic work for a few years, and later worked at Waynesboro Country Club.

She was a member of Fairview Avenue Brethren in Christ Church in Waynesboro.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth E. Pepple of Quincy and Joseph R. Pepple of Smithsburg; a sister, Mary Jane Wagner; two brothers, Joseph Miller and Glenn E. Miller, both of Waynesboro; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert R. Pepple; two sisters, Margaret Wagner and Gertrude Carbaugh; and a brother, Robert Miller.

Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. in Waynesboro. The Rev. John D. Fickett will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dorothy V. Merkel

NARBERTH, Pa. - Dorothy V. Merkel, 88, of 508 Homewood Ave., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, May 12, 2000, at South Mountain Restoration Center.

Born June 23, 1911, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Edward N. and Elizabeth Merkel.

She was a 1929 graduate of Narberth High School and she attended business school.

She was employed as a secretary for a music teacher in Philadelphia.

She was a Protestant.

She is survived by a niece, Alison Merkel of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held today at 10 a.m. in the Auditorium of South Mountain Restoration Center. The Rev. Richard Stuempfle will officiate. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Visitation will be one half hour before the service.

Arrangements are by Lochstampfor Funeral Home Inc., Waynesboro, Pa.

John F. Bucklew Sr.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - John F. Bucklew Sr., 61, of 101 Tritle Ave., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, May 19, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Nov. 25, 1938, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Ernest and Veronica Niland Bucklew.

His wife, Judy Ann Cline Bucklew, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died in 1998.

He was a 1957 graduate of Allehany High School.

He was employed at the Record Herald Newspaper Co., Waynesboro.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a member of American Legion Post 945 Harrisburg, Pa., U.F.W. and A.A.R.P.

He is survived by a son, John F. Bucklew Jr. of Waynesboro; two sisters, Rosemary Flood of Bowie, Md. and Loretta Wells of Cumberland; two brothers, Joseph Bucklew of Cobbs Creek, Va., and James Bucklew of Frederick, Md.; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael B. Bucklew and a brother, Eugene Bucklew.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg. The Rev. Ronald Key will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Martha S. Fisher

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Martha S. Sollenberger Fisher, 87, a resident of Penn Hall - A Menno-Haven Community, and formerly of Eastland Hills, Waynesboro, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, May 19, 2000, at the nursing home.

Born May 15, 1913, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Aaron B. Sr. and Anna Landis Sollenberger.

Her husband, Nevin K. "Bud" Fisher, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died June 30, 1984. They were married February 1939.

She was a 1932 graduate of Waynesboro High School and in 1934, she graduated from Illmans College which was affiliated with Drexel University, with a degree in elementary education.

She was primarily a homemaker but also taught a kindergarten class in her home for a number of years.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Waynesboro, where she served as a deacon, elder and served on the search committee of the church.

She was a member of Mount Vernon Chapter 398 Order of the Eastern Star, Waynesboro, a volunteer with Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary and served on the Waynesboro Hospital Board from 1972 through 1987. She was also a member of Waynesboro Country Club and National A.A.R.P.

She is survived by a daughter, Suzanne F. Heitzenroder of Pittsburgh; a brother, Aaron B. Sollenberger Jr. of Waynesboro; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna L. Sollenberger and Mary E. Steiner; two brothers, Dr. Frank Sollenberger and Robert J. Sollenberger.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Waynesboro Presbyterian Church, 105 E. Main St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Charles B. Jessen will officiate.

It was her request to have no public viewing and burial will be at the convenience of the family in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family requests the omission of flowers and memorial contributions may be made to Waynesboro Presbyterian Church, 105 East Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
