STOUFFER - Benjamin M., 90, Parkhill, passed away July 26, 2007, at Laurel Crest Nursing Home. He was Born Nov. 29, 1916, in Johnstown, son of Benjamin and Gertrude (Gardner) Stouffer. Preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Walters and Alice Walker; and brothers, Herbert, Charles and William. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Opal M. (Hopkins) Stouffer; children, James, Clermont, Fla.; Nancy Killian, Tampa, Fla.; Marilyn, wife of Lewis Ramirez, Mineral Point; and Gerald, Johnstown; grandchildren, Edward, Sheri, Cindy, Timothy, Tricia and Cory; several great-grandchildren; sister, Georgia Landis, Central City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Benjamin was employed as a crane operator at Bethlehem Steel. He was a member of Singer Hill Grace Brethren Church, where he served as deacon, trustee and usher for many years. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to service at 10 a.m. Monday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, with the Rev. Drew Walther officiating. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to Singer Hill Grace Brethren Church, 2980 William Penn Ave., Johnstown, Pa. 15909, in memory of Benjamin.

TRAIL - Robert L.
TRAIL - Robert L., 89, Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Johnstown, passed away July 9, 2007, in Florida. He was Born July 23, 1917, in Johnstown, to Lawrence and Estelle. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 56 years, former Dorothy Maxwell; and grandson, Lenny Jubara. Survived by daughter, Roberta Trail, Ebensburg; grandson, Chris Jubara; brother, Charles Trail Sr., and wife, former Mary Peace; sister-in-law, Jean Maxwell; and numerous nieces and nephews. He loved music and enjoyed playing the organ. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel, Johnstown. There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Second Brethren Church, Grove Avenue, Moxham.

VRABEL - George

Born Oct. 27, 1916, in Benscreek, Portage Township, son of Nicholas and Anna (Tutsock) Vrabel. Preceded in death by parents and brothers, John, Nicholas, Paul and Stephen Vrabel. Survived by loving wife, Helen (Timura) Vrabel, and children, George (Carol) Vrabel, Florida; David Vrabel, Kirtland, Ohio; and Kathryn (Greg) Hillard, Willoughby, Ohio. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Jonathan Hillard, Laura Vrabel, Drew Hillard, Ani Vrabel and Annalise Vrabel. Brother of Fred Vrabel, and wife, Elaine, Portage, and Marie Sladics, Pennsylvania. Former coal miner and last employed as a foundry worker for Shoreway Alloys. Army veteran of World War II, who proudly served the 51st Medical Battalion for four years and three months. He earned the silver and gold stars. Life member of the VFW and Wickliffe Post 7, American Legion. Member of St. Stephen's Church and Holy Name Society and was twice voted the "Man of the Year." Friends received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Orlando-Donsante Funeral Home, Wickliffe, Ohio. Divine liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen's Byzantine Catholic Church, Wickliffe, Ohio. Friends also received from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Mark A. Serenko Funeral Home, Portage, where Panachida will be sung at 10 a.m., Father James Spontak officiating. Committal in SS. Peter -- Paul Byzantine Cemetery, Portage. Military funeral rites by Portage Veterans Organizations. Family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Stephen's Byzantine Catholic Church, 532 Lloyd Road, Wickliffe, Ohio 44132 or Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 E. 185th St., Cleveland, Ohio 44119.

Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber, where vigil service will be held. Interment, church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Meadow View Nursing Home, Berlin.

MICHAELS – Dawna M.
MICHAELS – Dawna M., 80, of Richland, passed away on July 20, 2007. She was Born on May 27, 1927, in Johnstown, daughter of Harold and Helen (Schatz) Baker. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph J. Michaels; and sisters, Helen, Dorothy and Margaret. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Dawn is survived by her brothers-in-law; and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many close friends. She was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Dawna will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, and one hour prior to service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 1000 Scalp Ave., Johnstown, Pa. 15904. Interment will take place at Richland Cemetery.

PLUCHINSKY – Master John Albert Pluchinsky
PLUCHINSKY – Master John Albert Pluchinsky, age 4, the beloved son of Kathleen Wollin Pluchinsky and David Allen Pluchinsky and the cherished younger brother of Thomas Alec Pluchinsky, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died while attending a summer day camp near his home in the Memorial area of Houston on Wednesday, July 18, 2007. John was Born on January 8, 2003, in Houston, Texas. In his brief time here, John was a blessed light illuminating all his family and friends with infectious love, joy, and optimism. He attended Chapelwood School for Young Children and was going to attend Memorial Drive Elementary this fall. He was a youth member of Saint Cecilia Catholic Parish in Houston, Texas. Throughout his short, but very memorable life, John was exuberant and full of life. On a recent family vacation to the Big Bend area, John canoed with his family and was thrilled by the natural wildlife all around him. He was captivated by the sighting of a black bear, several deer, a tarantula and other wildlife of the region. John also enjoyed earning his Junior National Park Ranger badge on the trip. His favorite vantage point for viewing the marvels of this world was astride his father’s shoulders. We take comfort in knowing that he is now atop the shoulders of our Heavenly Father, surveying an even greater vista. John will be remembered by all who loved and knew him, particularly his loving grandparents, Thomas Pluchinsky, Karen and Leonard Goltzman, and Roberta and Kenneth Wollin. Also holding his memory dear will be his adoring aunts and uncles, Kenneth and Vanessa Wollin; Keith and Amy Wollin; Kevin Wollin; Nadine Pluchinsky; Sharon and Andrew Bellak; Cynthia Ianni; Wyeth and Evelyn Wiedeman; Whitney and Alexandra Wiedeman; Eitan and Leslie Suez; Lynda Goltzman Hallmark; and Ron and Gwen Zaczepinski. He is preceded in death by his fraternal grandmother, Diana Pluchinsky. Arrangements in Houston are entrusted to Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, The Funeral Directors Since 1936, in Houston, Texas, 713-789-3005. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from four o’clock in the afternoon until six o’clock in the evening on Sunday, the 22nd of July, in the Library of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 23rd of July, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc Drive in Houston, where the Rev. John Cahoon, J.C.L. will serve as celebrant. Following the funeral mass, the family will gather for a private and brief Rite of Committal; and then immediately return to the St. Cecilia Community Center to greet and receive friends during a reception. In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions in memory of John Albert Pluchinsky may be directed to Bo’s Place, 10050 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, TX, 77054; or to the charity of one’s choice.

ZANGAGLIA – Joe Ann (Vindish)
ZANGAGLIA – Joe Ann (Vindish), 57, Mount Hope, was called home to God on July 20, 2007. Born June 16, 1950, in Windber, daughter of Helen K. (Kovalsky) and Stephen Leo Vindish. Preceded in death by parents. Survived by husband, James Zangaglia, Mount Hope; children, Eric, husband of Stacey (Arthurs), Summerhill; and Vincent, South Fork; grandchildren, Cassie Zangaglia; Jacquilyn and Anthony Zangaglia; sisters, Mary Ellen, wife of Leonard Chuckalovcak, Beaverdale; and Agnes, wife of Joseph Lech, Richland; brother, Stephen Vindish, married to Mary Louise Zangaglia, Nashville, Ga.; and mother-in-law, Mary A. Zangaglia, Salix. Also, nephews and nieces, Leonard Chuckalovcak, Stephen Vindish, Stephanie Butler, Darcey Rainey, and Kellie Lech. Joe Ann’s love for life was exceeded only by her love she had for her grandchildren and family. Every hour spent with them was a precious gift to her. She won her battle with cancer, yet God needed to call her to His side. She rests peacefully now, free from her pain. Her body has been taken from us, but her spirit will never die, for He will raise her up on Eagle’s Wings, and hold her in the palm of His hand. Funeral service will be private. CALLAHAN - Ronald L.
CALLAHAN - Ronald L., 59, Johnstown, passed away July 18, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born May 2, 1948, son of Raymond W. Sr. and Mary J. (Klotz) Callahan. Preceded in death by a brother, Raymond W. Jr. He enjoyed going to Johnstown Chiefs games and especially being involved in his grandchildren's lives. Survived by his parents of Johnstown; his wife of 39 years, the former Nancy L. Berkey; daughter, Cristy R., fiancee of Todd Rasko, Windber; sons, Eron S., and wife, Christa, Johnstown, and Chad R., and wife, Julie, South Dakota; and proud loving Pap to Nicole, Phillip, Patrick, Kylee and Ana; brother, Richard (Carrie), Virginia; sister, Laura (Jon Barron), Virginia; mother and father-in-law, Doris and Duane Metzger; and nieces and nephews. Ron was retired from Bethlehem Steel. He was a member of Moxham Church of the Brethren. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hindman Funeral Homes -- Crematory Inc., Chandler Avenue, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor William Wenger. CASTEL - Leona M.
CASTEL - Leona M., 84, Portage, went to be with the Lord on July 18, 2007. She was Born April 23, 1923, in Portage, daughter of Julius and Julia (Helsel) Castel. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mildred Dawson; and brother, Clarence Castel. She is survived by her sisters, Reba Wareham, State College, and Lillian Clark, Sparrows Point, Md., and brothers, John (Rudelle Focht), Portage, and Robert (Bonnie Micky) Olmsted Falls, Ohio; also nieces and nephews: Carol Malloy, "Skip" Wareham, Tom Wareham, Fran Wilson, Phillip Clark, Phyllis Tutin, "Butch" Clark, Ray Castel, Joe Castel, John Castel, Debi Clappe, Margie Nicholson, Nancy LeMay, Leslie Remington, Tammie Castel, Rob Castel and Jeff Castel. Leona was a lifelong member of the Christian -- Missionary Alliance Church of Portage, where she was a Sunday school teacher, youth leader, choir member, treasurer of the Missionary Fund, past district treasurer of the Alliance Women and president of the Alliance Women. She retired from the meat department of the A--P Market in Johnstown. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Dennis C. Beck Funeral Home, Portage. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Christian -- Missionary Alliance Church, Johnson Avenue, Portage, the Rev. Jerry W. Zuvers and the Rev. William Hazlett.
