ZEPKA - William "Billy," 75, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2006, after a hard fought battle from congestive heart failure. He was the 1985 recipient of the National Distinguished Principal Award and member of the Windber Hall of Fame. Bill is survived by wife, the former Janet Grimes of Windber of 50 years; children, Victor, Kevin, Betsy (husband, Matt), Candee (husband, Rob), Isabella (wife of Sammy); and five grandchildren: Amanda, Allison, Billy, Jessica and Jennifer. He was predeceased by son, Sammy, and daughter-in-law, Anneli (wife of Kevin). Bill was Born and raised in Windber. He graduated from Windber High School in 1950. He taught at Windber East End School in 1958-1963, when he moved to Virginia. Bill served as a principal for over 25 years. Bill prided himself on knowing the names of every one of the students who passed through his school. Bill retired in 1986. After retirement, Bill and Janet were Florida snowbirds until they permanently relocated to Florida in 1993. In November 2006, Bill and Janet celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Bill was best known for impacting the lives of all of those he touched. His positive influence and the role model that he served for all those that knew him will always be remembered. A memorial Mass is scheduled for May 5, 2006, at 4 p.m. at Good Shephard Parish (Alexandria, Va.). A funeral Mass and internment is scheduled for May 10 and 11, 2006, in Indian Harbour Beach, Fla., by Beach Funeral Home.

CAMERON - James R. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" 2 Corinthians, 5:8. Born Nov. 10, 1932, in Johnstown, son of the late Harry M. and Marian "Faye" (Straver) Cameron. Survived by best friend and loving wife of 49 years, Beatrice (Penrod) Cameron, who he married Nov. 10, 1956; children, Barry, married to Melanie (Simanski), Johnstown; Franklin "Frank," married to Susan (New), Beaverdale; and Scott, married to Dana (Chubski), Frederick, Md.; grandchildren, Brad, and wife, Regina; Jill, wife of Scott Brenna; and Jeremiah, Michael, Quinten, Ethan and Katie Cameron; and great-grandsons, Brandon, Dustin and Zachary Cameron and Austin and Cameron Brenna. Brother of Harry "Len," married to Twila (Strayer), South Fork. Also survived by special cousins, Dorothy Brewer "private duty nurse," and Bernard Bopp and family; nephews, Richard, and wife, Marlene, and family, and Timothy, and daughter, Cameron; his guardian angels at hospice, Lisa, Jennifer, Amy, Jill and Karen, and all the nurses from Community Nursing who cared for him these past years, you were all special to him and a highlight of his day; special family, Dr. Terry and Peggy Walsh; and many friends and neighbors. Ray was a member of Mount Hope United Methodist Church, Ragers Corner. He graduated from the former Adams Township High School. Past member of SPEBQSA, the Knights of Harmony, barbershop group for 29 years. He was stage director for many annual shows doing all the scenery and stage decorating. He received the Barbershopper of the Year, which is given each year. He sang lead in the Twilighters Quartet until his health failed. Former Boy Scout leader. Member of Cambria Lodge 278 Free -- Accepted Masons. Former Decaplois Shrine 29; White Shrine of Jerusalem; Cambria Court 27; Order of the Amaranth; American Legion; and Army veteran of the Korean War. Charter member of Clan Cameron, North America-Mid-Atlantic Branch. He enjoyed his family and grandchildren and their many vacations together. He also enjoyed traveling, singing, building and flying model airplanes, making and flying his own kites and teaching his grandchildren and nieces to draw. He was a gifted painter and sketched many sights as he traveled. He skied and roller skated, teaching his sons to follow him. If in his life he was to leave a legacy it would be "to be patient and long suffering, free at last." Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home Inc., South Fork, where Masonic service will be held at 7:15 p.m. Saturday by Cambria Lodge 278 F--AM. Viewing at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Sunday, the Rev. James E. Rank. Interment, South Fork Cemetery. Military graveside service by Menoher Post 155 VFW Ritual Team. MULLEN - Gerald R., "Jerry," 85, of Upper Yoder Township, passed away Aug. 2, 2006, at his residence. He was Born Dec. 30, 1920, in Windber, son of John E. and Nellie E. (Johns) Mullen. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Richard Edgar; and granddogs, Fudge and Klaws. Survived by wife of 56 years, Mardell Mullen; daughters, Cynthia Mullen, Johnstown, and Kris, wife of Russell Moore, East Greenwich, R.I.; grandchildren, Kristin Weinzierl, Boulder, Colo., Matthew Weinzierl, Madison, Wis., and Thomas Moore, East Greenwich; brother, Wilbur, Ohio; sisters, Winifred Donaldson, Tennessee, and Janet Hoffman, Pennsylvania; numerous nieces and nephews; and a granddog, Maggie. Jerry was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during World War II aboard the USS Cavalier, APA-37, as part of the amphibious forces in the Atlantic-Pacific Theater. Retired sales representative for Haws Refractories and Freeport Brick Company, and traveled extensively primarily in Eastern U.S. and Canada. Jerry was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Westmont; various Masonic organizations and Jaffa Shrine, Altoona; Veterans of Foreign Wars; and the American Legion. He also was a longtime member of the North Fork Golf Club. A private family memorial service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. Clarence Caldwell officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to Christ Lutheran Church, 337 Elknud Lane, Johnstown, Pa. 15905 or to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45229, in memory of Jerry. Worked as a machine operator for the former Publix Shirt Factory, Gallitzin, retiring in 1990. A 1947 graduate of Gallitzin High School. Louisa enjoyed embroidering and crocheting. Also survived by loving companion and dance partner of 16 years, Betty Dereani. We know he is dancing in heaven. An avid YMCA member. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served as a second class petty officer. He belonged to Little Steps Day Care, Lemoyne, and Small Steps Day Care, Carlisle. He would have been a first-grader at Middlesex Elementary. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Kailyn Rager, and a brother, Josh Taormina, both of Carlisle; paternal grandmother, Darlene Rager, Johnstown; maternal grandmother, Louise Schaney, Johnstown; and several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Bob Schaney. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Brethren in Christ Church, 1155 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, with the Rev. William E.
