MABLE M. BURNS, 81
Mable M. Burns, 81, formerly of Old State Route 8, Cherrytree Township, died at 11:05 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at Rouse-Warren County Home in Youngsville, where she was admitted Dec. 23, 1992.
Mrs. Burns was born June 4, 1921 in the Pineville area of Southwest Township, Warren County, a daughter of the late David and Alta Wright Jackson.
She marriage Edward W. Burns on Feb. 29, 1940 in Franklin. Mr. Burns died on Feb. 13, 1987.
Mrs. Burns was formerly employed as a cook at Titusville High School cafeteria for over 22 years, having retired in June 1982.
She was a member of Breedtown Baptist Church and a former member of the Challenger Class there. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Acacia Chapter #30.
Survivors include two sons, Edward D. Burns and his wife, Nancy, of Pleasantville and James G. Burns and his wife, Letta, of Titusville; a brother, Harold R. Jackson Sr., of Pleasantville; four grandsons, Edward "Chip" Burns of Pleasantville, Michael "Mo" Burns of Hydetown, Rusty Burns and Scott Burns, both of Titusville; three great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
A sister, Marie Bevier, and six brothers, Louis, Clyde, Harrison, Paul, Ralph and Robert Jackson, all died previously.
Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home, Inc. The Order of Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at 6:45 p.m. today. The Rev. Gary Kinnear, pastor of the Breedtown Baptist Church, will conduct the funeral service from the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Friday. Interment will be in Plumer Cemetery, Cornplanter Township, Venango County.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Breedtown Baptist Church, RD 3, Titusville, Pa. 16354 or to a charity of one's choice.

WILLIAM H. BARKER, 84
William H. Barker, 84, of 921 Allen St., died at midnight Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, in Titusville Area Hospital.
Born Dec. 13, 1917, at Bolton, England, he was a son of the late Thomas Smith and Gladys Barker.
He marriage the former Danuta Makiewicz on Feb. 28, 1976, at Los Angeles; she survives.
He served in the English army for several years during World War II.
Later he moved from Bolton to Alhambra, Calif., and was employed as a press operator for Adams Wright Steel in Industry, Calif. He retired in 1982 and moved to Titusville in 1991.
He enjoyed reading, watching television, traveling and riding trains in England.
Survivors include: three sons, Christopher Barker of St. Anns, England, Timothy Barker of Grimsby, England, and Paul Barker of London, England; a step-daughter and her husband, Maria and Peter Taylor of Titusville; four grandchildren, James Barker and Ewan Barker, both of Grimsby, Michelle Taylor of Titusville and Michael Taylor, stationed with the U.S. Army in South Korea.
His first wife and two sisters died previously.
No public calling hours will be observed.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home by the Rev. William Hopkins, pastor of Titusville Church of the Nazarene.

BETTY JEAN CLARK, 71
UNION CITY - Betty Jean Clark, 71, of 35631 Circuit Drive, Canadohta Lake, Union City, died at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2001, at her home.
Born Dec. 3, 1930, at Union City, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Beatrice Carter Weed.
She marriage Gene R. Clark on Feb. 4, 1951, in Lincoln Baptist Church; he survives.
She graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1948 and attended Erie Business College.
She was a member of Grace Fellowship Church.
She belonged to the Tuesday morning women's golf league at Union City Country Club and was a former member of Titusville Garden Club.
She enjoyed working in her flower garden, designing floral arrangements, decorating and entertaining.
Survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Pastor Chris and Judy Clark of Emlenton, Curtis and Karen Clark of Titusville and Calvin and Jennifer Clark of Lexington, Ky.; a daughter, Cheryl Purser of Sarasota, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Obadiah Clark, Silas Clark and Rachel Clark, all of Emlenton, Christy Clark of Titusville, Kari Clark of Erie and Jordan Clark, Michael Clark, Adam Clark and Kendra Clark of Lexington, Ky.
Two sisters, Violet Besonson and Kathryn Willey, died previously.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, where the funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday by Pastor Jeff Barnett of Grace Fellowship Church.
Interment will be in Rootville Cemetery, Bloomfield Township.

ELWOOD 'GENE' GRAY, 77
UNION CITY - Elwood "Gene" Gray, 77, of Church Road, Union City, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 19, 1925, in Townville, the son of Walter and Corrine Whitman Gray Opelt.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Navy.
He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5958, Titusville, where he also was a past commander.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, LeBaron Post #237, Union City, and a member of the Order of the Cooties.
He had retired from National Forge in 1986, where he was a rigger welder.
Mr. Gray was preceded in death by a grandson and five brothers, Wallace, Lloyd, Donald, George "Lewis" and Oscar Gray.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Lininger Gray of Union City; two daughters, Becky Reagle and her husband, Dave, of Bear Lake and Barbara Blakeslee of Union City; three sons, Larry Gray and his wife, Barbara, of Townville, Wayne Gray and his wife, Bobbi, of Titusville and Gerald Sirak and his wife, Vicki, of Union City; a sister, Lois Ellen Engell, and her husband, Wilmer, of McKean; and a brother, William Gray, and his wife, Gloria, of Union City; two grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is his step-father, Edwin Opelt of Titusville.
Friends may call at the Glenn Funeral Home, an Independent Care Group Inc. affiliate, 62 S. Main St., Union City, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and attend a graveside service on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Waterford Cemetery, Waterford, with the Rev. Bill Cox officiating. A military service will follow the graveside service.

RICHARD J. WINKLER, 79
NAPLES, Fla. - Word has been received that Richard J. Winkler, 79, of Naples, Fla., and Conneaut Lake, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at Naples.
Born July 2, 1923, at Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Richard and Margaret Briscoe Winkler.
He and the former Mary Louise McCullough marriage 52 years ago; she survives.
A former Franklin resident, he owned several McDonald's restaurants in the region. He also owned Richard Winkler Real Estate and Insurance Agency in the Pittsburgh area.
Survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard Winkler of Titusville and Peter M. and Jennifer Winkler of Franklin; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Joseph Nolan of Bellevue; seven grandchildren, Marisa Winkler, Richard Winkler, Rosemarie Winkler, Peter J. Winkler, Bridget Nolan, Kathleen Nolan and Michael Nolan; and two sisters, Marjorie Marks and Marian Ganley.
A daughter, Rosemarie Winkler, died previously.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, 460 Lincoln Ave., Bellevue.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday in Church of the Assumption, 45 N. Sprague Ave., Bellevue.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rosemarie Winkler Scholarship Fund at Wheeling Jesuit University, 316 Washington Ave., Wheeling, W.Va. 26003.

GERALDINE J. CROSBY, 88
CORRY -Geraldine J. Crosby, 88, formerly of Spartansburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, in Corry Manor Nursing Home, Corry.
Born June 23, 1914, at Corry, she was a daughter of the late Josiah and Susie Clark Shepard.
She was raised and educated in the Union City area.
She marriage Glenn Crosby on Jan. 13, 1951, at Mayville, N.Y.; he died Sept. 12, 1998.
After her marriage, she moved to Spartansburg. A homemaker throughout her life, she lived in Spartansburg until 2000, when she moved to Corry Manor.
She was a member of Spartansburg Baptist Church.
Her hobbies included crocheting, cooking and gardening.
Survivors include: five daughters and four sons-in-law, Janet and Paul "Sonny" Blakeslee of Spartansburg, Marjorie Heginbotham of Corry, Doris and James Maynard of Corry, Linda and Dennis Donor of Centerville and Barbara and Harry Hayes of Spartansburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward G. and Irene Weaver of Union City and Donald G. and Judy Weaver of Corry; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Raymond Clark of St. Cloud, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Weaver, in 1952; as well as two sisters, Eva Soety and Allene Morton, and three brothers, George Shepard, William Shepard and Carlyle Shepard.
Friends may call Friday at Bracken Funeral Home, 211 Mechanic St., Spartansburg, from noon to 2 p.m., when a funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Earl Gutberlet, pastor of Spartansburg Baptist Church.
Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Spartansburg.

DEANNA HEHER KELLEY, 89
ERIE - Deanna Heher Kelley, 89, formerly of Titusville, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Ball Pavilion at Brevellier Village, Erie, where she had lived.
Born Aug. 3, 1913, at Oil City, she was a daughter of the late William and Margaret Connelly Heher.
She was marriage to Spicer Kelley of Erie, who survives.
She moved to Erie in 1981.
She had been employed as a sales clerk in grocery stores at Titusville and Oil City.
Her hobbies included playing bingo and cooking.
Survivors include: a son, the Rev. Thomas Kelley of Midland, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Kenneth Dixon of Dyer, Ind., and Mary Margaret and B.D. Gupta of Swampscott, Mass.; and five grandchildren.
Four brothers, William Heher, Thomas Heher, Richard Heher and John Heher; and four sisters, Mary Heher, Margaret Baylor, Mercedes Heher and Ann Heher, died previously.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at A. Brugger and Sons Funeral Home's Pine Avenue Branch, 845 E. 38th St., Erie.
A service at 10:15 a.m. Saturday in Mount Calvary Church, 2004 E. Lake Road, Erie, will be followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m.
Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum, Erie.

G. CLIFFORD PATTERSON, 95
DENVER - G. Clifford Patterson, 95, of 1950 S. Dayton St., Denver, Colo., died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, in the Ilifs of Care Nursing Home in Denver, where he had been a patient for three weeks.
Born July 24, 1907, at Titusville, he was a son of the late Irvin and Ethel Shaffer Patterson.
He marriage the former Jennie Silvers, who survives.
He graduated from Titusville High School.
Employed by The Titusville Herald for 18 years until 1950, he also worked as a proof reader for The Denver Post and The Rocky Mountain News.
He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Denver.
A member and 32nd-degree Mason of Liberty Lodge 134, Free and Accepted Masons in Denver, he was active in various masonic and men's clubs, including the Masonic Consistory in Denver.
Survivors include: a son, Thomas Patterson of Barrington, Ill; three daughters, Helen Kreiger of Colorado Springs, Colo., Patricia "Pat" Greeb of Denver and Nancy Verdick of Aurora, Colo.; a sister-in-law, Cleda Holliday of Grantsville, Md.; and many nieces and nephews.
A brother, Glenn Patterson; and two sisters, Helen Walls and Ruth Patterson, died previously.
Friends may call Saturday at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home from noon to 1 p.m., when a funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Edward Patterson, Mr. Patterson's nephew.
Interment will be Fairview Cemetery, Cherrytree Township, Venango County.

CHARLES A. TAYLOR, 66
ERIE - Charles A. Taylor, 66, of 32913 State Highway 77, Centerville, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, in Hamot Medical Center, Erie.
Born Feb. 29, 1936, at Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Harry R. Taylor and Mildred Llewellyn.
He was marriage to the former Janet Nale, who survives.
He was an Army veteran.
He worked as a spring coiler with Mercer Spring and Wire, retiring after 42 years of employment. He also had been part owner of the former N&T Discount Store.
He belonged to Titusville Elks Lodge.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Kathie Taylor of New Richmond and Scott and Joanne Taylor of Little Cooley; a daughter and son-in-law, Alicia and Rick Scott of New Richmond; five grandchildren, Shane Taylor, Samantha Taylor, Steven Taylor, Josh Scott and Breanna Scott; a sister, Audrey Hanyo of Pittsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Donald Taylor; and a sister, Loreda Gomalchak, died previously.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Willis L. Arnold Funeral Home, Townville. A memorial service will be held on a date to be announced.

EDITH S. HANNA, 95
Mrs. Edith S. Hanna, 95, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at 4:10 p.m. at Country Acres where she had resided since April of 2001.
Mrs. Hanna was born on July 26, 1907, at Union City, a daughter of the late Dennis and Carrie LeBaron Sargent.
A 1924 graduate of Union City High School, she entered Edinboro College where she graduated and begin teaching school in several one-room schools.
She was employed by the state Department of Public Assistance in Meadville and Titusville in 1949 as a caseworker and was promoted to a supervisor, a position which she held until her retirement in 1976.
She was marriage to Delbert Kightlinger on March 26, 1932. Four children from this marriage survive: Mrs. Joseph D. (Ginny) Anderson and Mrs. Duane (Martha) Oakes, both of Titusville, Merle D. Kightlinger of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., and Mrs. Raymond (Joyce) Woodard of Franklin; three grandsons; eight granddaughters; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She later marriage Kenneth Skinner on Aug. 31, 1962. He preceded her in death in 1964. She is survived by a step-son, Richard Skinner of Titusville.
In October of 1966, she marriage Joseph Hanna. He preceded her in death in 1979. She is survived by the following step-children: Jack Hanna of Florida, Donna Barstow of North Carolina, Roger Hanna of Florida and Mrs. George (Joyce) Rodgers of Evans City.
She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Pete (Lucille) Williams, of Melbourne, Fla., and a brother, Millard Sargent of Tucson, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd Sargent and Howard Sargent; three sisters, Mrs. William (Myrna) Weisberg, Mrs. Harry (Clarabelle) McKeever, and Mrs. Glenn (Meredyth) Witten; and a step-son, George Hanna.
Mrs. Hanna was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She will be remembered for her quiet, gentle nature, her optimistic approach to life, and her love for her family.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and attend the funeral service there on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Glen Irvin, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
