Wilbur Jones
Was trustee of Carpenters Local 81
Wilbur Jones, 80, of East Pearl Street, Albion, died Friday, June 19, 1998, at Pleasant Ridge Manor.
He was born in the Bronx, N.Y., Aug. 8, 1917, a son of the late Milton and Edith Searles Jones.
He served in World War II in 1945 and was a member of Girard American Legion Post 494. He was a lifetime member of Carpenters Local 81 from 1948 to 1976 and he served the local as a trustee. He also served in the Civilian Conservation Corp., and the Civil Air Patrol. He graduated from the New York Industrial High School for Boys in 1955.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Ulmer Jones in 1989, and two brothers, Herbert and Raymond Jones.
He is survived by a son, Thomas Jones and his wife Marjorie of Girard; three daughters, Cynthia Ramsey and her husband Bill of Erie, Edith Niskanen and her husband Robert of Lake City, and Cheryl Deblock of Albion; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends may attend a service Monday 6:30 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church. The Rev. Phil Swickard will officiate. Memorials may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, Hall and Lake avenues, Lake City, PA 16423, or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Ellen Carlson
Ellen Victoria Carlson, 71, of Erie, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at Saint Vincent Health Center.
She was born March 2, 1927, in Erie, daughter of the late Axel and Linnea Carlson.
Miss Carlson, who lived in Erie all her life, was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.
She was a past district master, treasurer and secretary of the Swedish organization Vasa Order of America and a member of the local Vasa lodge, SVEA Lodge 296.
She worked at Erie Resistor Corp. until her retirement, then worked at the YWCA.
She is survived by a brother, Arvid B. Carlson of Erie; a nephew and a niece.
Friends may call at Dusckas Funeral Home West, 536 W. 10th St., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church, 254 E. 10th St., Saturday at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Randall Peters.
Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Dale Arthur Boyce
Retired electrician worked for Elkem Metals Co.
CONNEAUTVILLE - Dale Arthur "Skinny" Boyce, 64, 25795 N. Beaver Road, Springboro, died at his home Wednesday, June 17, 1998, after a long illness.
He was born July 13, 1933, in Meadville, son of the late Harold and Gladys Platz Boyce.
Mr. Boyce was an electrician. He worked for Elkem Metals Co. in Ashtabula, Ohio, until his retirement. He was a member of the United Steel Workers of America.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 615 in Conneautville.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Elaine Boyce.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Arndt Boyce, whom he marriage Oct. 28, 1961; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Laura) Franz of Springboro; two sons, Brian Boyce of Selkirk, N.Y., and Shawn Boyce of Conneautville and his wife, Kimberly; a grandson, Wesley Franz; three granddaughters, Michelle Franz and Kelly and Kari Boyce; two brothers, Ronald Boyce of Conneaut, Ohio, and Harold "Buddy" Boyce of Lake City; an aunt and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at White-Cool Funeral Home, 1405 Main St., Conneautville, Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held there Sunday at 2 p.m., conducted by Pastor Abe Edwards of New Life Community Church in Fairview.

Antoinette Clemente Hoetzl
Erie native taught social studies in southern California
Antoinette Clemente Hoetzl, 67, formerly of Erie, died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at North Coast Health Center in Santa Rosa, Calif.
She was born April 21, 1931, in Erie, daughter of Mary Clemente Swenson of Santa Rosa and the late Salvatonio "Sammy" Clemente.
Mrs. Hoetzl, who attended Sacred Heart Grade School, was a graduate of Villa Maria Academy and Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. She taught social studies in Orange County, Calif., schools for many years.
She enjoyed opera, traveling, playing bridge and mountain climbing.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her father, was a brother, Alex Clemente.
In addition to her mother, survivors include an uncle, Vincent "Jim" Leone of Erie and his wife, Patricia; an aunt, Ann Drinkwater of Las Vegas, Nev., and her husband, Pete; three nieces and nephews, including Almitra Clerkin of Erie; and two great-nieces.
A memorial service will be held at the Neptune Society, 2607 Santa Rosa Ave., Santa Rosa, on Sunday.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2115 W. 38th St., Erie, PA 16508.

Margaret Kaiser Hall
Was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Church
Margaret Elizabeth Kaiser Hall, 83, 215 Lake Cliff Drive, died Thursday, June 18, 1998, at Hamot Medical Center after an illness of several weeks.
She was born Nov. 25, 1914, in Erie, daughter of the late Anthony and Henrietta Ott Kaiser.
Mrs. Hall, who attended St. Ann Grade School, was a 1933 graduate of Villa Maria Academy. Some years ago she worked part-time for the U.S. Post Office and Marx Toy Co.
She was a parishioner of St. Mark the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Bliley, and two sisters, Sr. M. Basilla, SSJ, and Catherine Wittenberg.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Elmer E. Hall; three sons, Richard J. Hall of East Northport, Long Island, N.Y., and his wife, Cathy, Jay E. Hall and his wife, Maureen, and Daniel T. Hall and his wife, Madeline, all of Erie; a daughter, Mrs. John (Carol) Walters of North Canton, Ohio; a sister, Grace Herring of Titusville, Fla.; 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at A. Brugger & Sons Funeral Home, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 E. 38th St., today from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held there Saturday at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass at St. Mark the Evangelist Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.

Karen Spade Thornton
GTE retiree had been a telephone operator
Karen E. Spade Thornton, 47, 2238 E. 19th, died Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at Metro Health Center.
She was born Dec. 25, 1950, in Clearfield, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Spade.
Mrs. Thornton, who attended Strong Vincent High School, worked for GTE as an operator for nine years until her retirement.
She enjoyed playing bingo at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Diehl.
She is survived by her husband, Russell Thornton; a daughter, Tracy Spade of Erie and her husband, Richard Whiteside; three sons, Russell Thornton Jr., Richard and Bradley Thornton; three grandchldren, Brittany Spade, Andre Whiteside and Kanisha Holloway; three sisters, Flora Jane Knauff and her husband, Harry, and Shirley Flanagan and her husband, Robert, all of Clearfield, and Janet Martell of Erie and her husband, Andrew; three brothers, Harry Spade Jr. and Lynn Spade, both of Clearfield, and Thomas Curtis; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home, 602 W. 10th, today from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held there Saturday at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Amos Goodwine of Morning Star Baptist Church.
Burial will be at Erie County Memorial Gardens.

Joseph E. Mozdy
Was an Erie police officer for 25-plus years
Joseph E. Mozdy, 61, 2409 W. 29th St., died at his home Wednesday, June 17, 1998.
He was born Oct. 23, 1936, in Erie, son of the late Joseph and Mildred Eileen Hahn Mozdy.
Mr. Mozdy, who was a 1956 graduate of Strong Vincent High School, was an Erie police officer for more than 25 years. After retiring from the city police force he worked as a security guard for Hamot Medical Center and most recently for Gannon University. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Haas Memorial Lodge 7.
In high school Mr. Mozdy was a state swimming champion. He served in the U.S. Navy as a navigator.
He was a member of the Houseboat Association and enjoyed gardening and cooking.
He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph E. Mozdy Jr., and a brother, John Mozdy.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara McGinnis Mozdy; a daughter, Lauren Mozdy Glendenning of Erie and her husband, Guy; a son, Christopher Mozdy of Erie; a grandson, Christopher Mozdy Jr.; a stepdaughter, Kelly O'Connor, at home; a stepson, Sean O'Connor of Indiana, Pa.; his triplet sister, Joan Grippe of Meadville her husband, Joseph.
Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home, 602 W. 10th St., today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. until the time of a service there at 8:15 p.m. The Rev. James McCormack will officiate.

George E. Stejskal
Chicago native was a security guard in Florida
George E. Stejskal, 69, of Carol Stream, Ill., formerly of Youngsville, died Monday, June 15, 1998, at Loyola University Medical Center in Broadview, Ill.
He was born Feb. 21, 1929, in Chicago, Ill., son of the late Emil and Mary Rose Chaplinski Stejskal.
Mr. Stejskal, who was educated in Brookville, Ill., worked for ASI Security in Carol Stream as a security guard.
He enjoyed fishing and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Albaugh Stejskal, formerly of the Corry area, whom he marriage Nov. 5, 1960. He is also survived by a brother, Raymond Stejskal of West Chicago, Ill., and his wife, Patricia.
The funeral service will be private. The Rev. Lynn Cirigliano, pastor of Faith Evangelical Church in Corry, will officiate.
Burial will be at Bear Lake Cemetery.
Bracken Funeral Home in Corry is handling arrangements.
