He attended Indiana State University, Terre Haute, Indiana and Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw, Georgia. He was preceded in death by parents, Edna and Clifford Campbell. He is survived by aunts and uncle, Sandy and David Jean of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Rebecca Bridges, Terre Haute, Indiana; cousins, Kelly Christian and Phillip Jean; great aunt, Gladys Neal, California, great uncle, Gerald Campbell. Graveside service 3:00 PM Saturday at Woodlawn Cemetery with Rev. Rob Williams officiating. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Hwy.

BARBARA DROTOS

DROTOS, BARBARA E. (AKARD), age 64, of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2002 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Attended Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a 1960 graduate of Ft. Sanders School of Nursing, served in the U.S. Air Force as a nurse and retired from Prince William Hospital in Manassas, VA. Preceded in death by parents, Ernest Akard and Ollice Caldwell Akard. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Danny Drotos and Therese Saggau; daughter, Beverly Drotos; granddaughter, Audrey Claire Drotos; ex-husband, John Drotos. Memorial service 2 P.M. Saturday Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel with Rev. Jim Millsaps officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 P.M. Saturday before the service at the Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 2300 W. Adair Dr.

Lucille Ellen Mummert Kasten

Lucille Ellen Mummert Kasten, age 87 of Sevierville, TN, formerly of Fort Pierce, Florida and Toledo, Ohio passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2002. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sevierville. She was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Fort Pierce, Florida Chapter serving several years as their recorder. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Donald Frank Kasten, parents, George E. and Jennie Lechner Mummert, brothers, Lawrence and Kenneth Mummert, George and Cecil Chidester, and a sister Vera Erwin. Survivors: Daughter: Maryellen Kasten Family and friends will meet 10 AM Friday at Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens in Pigeon Forge for graveside service and interment. Rev. Linsey H. Dettmer officiating. The family will receive friends 7-9 PM Thursday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Mary’s Hospice, 7447 Andersonville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37938.

He was a long-term employee of Buddy's Bar-b-que and a veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by father, Rev. Clayton Shaw. Wife of 42 years: Sonja Williams Shaw Funeral service will be held 8:00 p.m. Friday, Berry Chapel, with Rev. John Shaw and Rev. Stan Knight officiating. Family and friends will meet at Berry Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Saturday and will proceed to Highland South Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service with military honors by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be: Christopher Hord, Mark Smothers, Michael Smothers, Dr. Steve Knight, Joe Galyon, Charlie Johnson, and Brent Creswell. Honorary pallbearers will be the Sevier Heights Adult 4 Sunday school Class. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sevier Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 3232 Alcoa Highway, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, Knoxville, Tennessee.

Laura Elizabeth Halstead

Halstead, Laura Elizabeth, age 19, of Knoxville, formerly of Upstate New York. She is a lover of animals and a veterinary assistant. She is a graduate of Seymour High School. She is preceded in death by grandmother, Barbara Boice and grandfather, Cecil Halstead. Survived by mother, Ellen Boice; father and step-mother, David and Michele Halstead; brothers, Peter Halstead of Craryville, NY and Sean Halstead of Knoxville; grandfather, Myron Boice; of Kingston, N.Y. grandmother, Catherine Halstead of Craryville, NY; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins. Funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in West Taghkanic, New York, on Saturday, October 19, 2002 at 10:00 a.m., with Father Raymond J. Ethier officiating. Interment to follow in the West Copake Reform Church Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be held at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Seymour, Tennessee on Wednesday, October 23, 2002 at 7:30 p.m., with Father Evan officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Companion Animal Fund, College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Tennessee, Box 1071, Knoxville, Tennessee 37901-1071. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
