Edward Kern
Edward Omer Kern, age 93, of McKenzie, Tenn, formerly of Henry County died Friday, June 27, 2014, at McKenzie Healthcare in McKenzie, Tenn.
Ed married Dorothy Gean Kern July 31, 2006 and she survives. He attended Jolley Springs Baptist Church near Gleason. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II serving in 5 Major Battles and received 5 Bronze Stars. He retired from Champion Box Company in Gurnee, IL. He enjoyed building cabinets and other many things.
He was born June 9, 1921 in Owosso, MI to the late Marion Kern and the late Chloe Swartz Kern.
Besides his wife, He is also survived by Three Step-Daughters, Shelia (Freddie) Cole of Paris, Tenn, LeAnn (Barry) Barnett of Camden, Tenn, Darie (Jason) Loggains of Melbourne, Ark; One Step-Son, Randy (Rita) Gean of Buchanan, Tenn; One Sister, Madge Thompson of Paris, Tenn; Several other brothers and sisters; 9 Step Grandchildren; and 24 Step Great Grandchildren.
Besides his parents he is also preceded in death by Step daughter, Joyce Abbott and Step son, Bill Gean.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn.
He will be cremated with a Private Memorial Service at a later date.

Lena Priddy
Lena Ruth Priddy, age 80, of Paris, Tenn., died Wednesday, June 25, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, Tenn.
She was married November 4, 1950 to James H. Priddy; he survives.
Ruth was a member of Springhill Baptist Church. She formerly worked at Mitchum Company and last worked at Emerson Electric Co.
She was born January 22, 1934 in Paris, Tenn; the daughter of the late Buster Cox and the late Willie Sullivan Cox.
Besides her husband, Ruth is also survived by her four daughters; Bonnie (David) Eldridge of Paris, Tenn, Patty Alexander of Paris, Tenn, Donna (Johnny) Jones of Wilmer, Ala, Kathy (Steve) Looney of Paris, Tenn; son, Larry (Michele) Priddy of Hendersonville, Tenn; sister, Barbara (Charles) Capps of Lebanon, Tenn; brother, Steve (Jo Ann) Cox of Paris, Tenn; fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Francis Steele; and a grandchild, Brendon Priddy.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, where visitation will be held after 11 am Saturday, June 28, with the funeral service at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 2 PM Saturday, June 28.
Interment will be at Walker cemetery on Highway 69 North of Paris, Tenn.

Jimmy Maupin
James H. "Jimmy" Maupin, age 74 of Henry, died Tuesday, June 24 at the Henry County Medical Center.
Jimmy was a member of Van Dyke Church of Christ. He retired from TVA in New Johnsonville and Commercial Bank of Paris. Jimmy loved drag racing, tinkering with old cars, spending time with his family and especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren.Memorials may be made to: Van Dyke Church of Christ, c/o Terry Wilkinson, 3530 Van Dyke Road, Paris, TN 38242.
Visitaion will be 4-7pm Saturday June 28th and after 1pm on Sunday June 29th.
Services will be at 2pm Sunday at McEvoy Funeral home. Burial will follow in Bevil Cemetery.

Sonny Brown
Alvis Franklin “Sonny” Brown, age 88, of Paris, Tenn., died Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Henry County Healthcare Center in Paris, Tenn.
He was a member of Life long farmer and Lived in Buchanan, TN most of his life. He was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and a US Army veteran.
Sonny was the son of the late Perry Brown and the late Belogna Gibson Brown.
He is survived by his One Son, Lynn (Ann) Brown of Paris, Tenn.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn., where visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, June 23, 2014 and after 12:00 PM Tuesday, June 24, 2014. The Funeral service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 24, 2014.
John Smith will officiate.
Interment will be at Brown Family cemetery in Buchanan, Tenn.

Bill Whitehead
Willie Wesley “Bill” Whitehead, 88, of Knoxville, TN, went home to be with his Lord on June 21, 2014, at the Beverly Park Place in Knoxville. He was the son the late Robert and Bessie Nichols Whitehead. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years Norma Humpreys Whitehead, sister Larue Lankford and brothers Robert and Hilbert Whitehead.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 24 from 9 - 10:45 am at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with a Graveside service to be held at 11:00 am at Memorial cemetery with Dr. Trent Bullock officiating.
Pallbearers will be Wes Whitehead, Blaire Whitt, Stewart Whitt, Craig Whitt, Danny Nelson and Bob Moultrie.
He is survived by a son Tom (Donna) Whitehead of Knoxville, TN: a daughter Lisa (Ray) Whitt of Athens, AL; a granddaughter Natalie (Kevin) Ammons of Knoxville, TN, grandsons: Wesley (Meredith) Whitehead of Athens, AL, Stewart (Lauren) Whitt of Athens, AL, Blaire Whitt of Athens, AL, and Craig Whitt of Athens, AL. Mr. White had three great grandchildren: Blaine and Hudson Whitehead and Hailey Mays. He also leaves a brother Ben (Marilyn) Whitehead of St. Florissant, MO., and a sister Aileen (Gene) Anderson of Paris, TN, and several nieces and nephews.
Bill attended Grove High School and graduated from Murray State University in Murray, KY. He proudly served in the United States Army, 1944-45 in Egypt. In 1951, he began his career of 31 years with TVA as a Human Resource Manager. He worked at the New Johnsonville steam plant, Gallatin steam plant, Paradise steam plant, Widow’s Creek steam plant, Colbert steam plant, Brown’s Ferry nuclear plant and Hartselle nuclear plant. He retired in 1982 and made his home in Gallatin, TN until 2009.
Bill was a loving and devoted caretaker for his wife Norma during her lengthy illness with kidney disease until her passing in 1982. After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with Basden Tours, vegetable gardening and singing in the choir. He was a dedicated Christian his entire life, a member of the Baptist Church, served as a Deacon and lived a Godly example for his family. He attended UT Football games for 35 years and was an avid fan of the Cardinals and Braves all of his life. But his favorite activity was watching his own grandchildren’s sports activities, traveling hundreds of miles to support them.
Bill was a gentle man, loving son, husband, and father, father in law, grandfather, uncle and friend. Sadly, the last 5 years of his life was spent in declining health due to Alzheimer ’s disease. God chose to heal him in Heaven on June 21 and his final earthly hours were peaceful with his family.

Col. Bobby Ellis, USAF (ret.)
Bob Ellis, 80, of Paris, TN, passed away on June 21, 2014.
Bobby M. Ellis was born June 12, 1934 in rural Springfield, Tennessee, the son of Herschel and Alma Nichols Ellis. Bob graduated from Clarksville High School in 1952. He attended the University of Tennessee prior to entering the Air Force as an Aviation Cadet.
Bob retired from the Air Force with the rank of Colonel in 1982. His final assignment was Director of Maintenance for the Ogden Air Logistics Center.
After retiring from the Air Force, Bob was an advisor to the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Taiwan. He later went to work for McDonnell Douglas as a Program Manager and retired from there in 1996, at which time he moved to Paris, TN.
Bob is survived by his wife, Kathleen; sons William (Susan) and James (Tara); stepson Jesse Whitnall; grandchildren Shannon, Connor, and Colleen Ellis and Jessie and Alexis McIntyre; sister Bettye (Bill) Lord and their children, Patrick, Darlene, and William. He was preceded in death by his son, Phillip, and his parents.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 26 from 1-3 PM at Ridgeway Funeral Home, Paris, TN with a prayer service at 3 PM. Funeral services and burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Henry County Medical Center Hospice, 311 E. Wood St., Paris, TN 38242.

Robert "Bo" Conklin
Robert “Bo” Conklin, Jr., age 60, of Puryear, Tenn., died Friday, June 20, 2014, at his residence in Puryear, Tenn.
He was married to Wanda Mann Conklin Nov. 3, 1972 and she survives. Bo was a member of Northfork Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver who last worked for MPS Trucking in Dickson, TN. He formerly worked for Tennessee Asphalt .
Bo was born August 17, 1953 in Cornwall, NY to the late Robert Conklin Sr. and the late Mary Frances Slawson Conklin.
Besides his wife, Wanda Mann Conklin, he is also survived by; One Daughter, Holly Marie (David) Big Mountain of Puryear, Tenn; Three Sons, Kevin Vails (Sandy) Conklin of Vero Beach, Fla, Keith Andrew (Christine) Conklin of Puryear, Tenn, Robert Ryan Conklin of Puryear, Tenn; Two Sisters, Barbara Schade of Middleton, N.Y., Helen Wilson of Bloomingburgh, N.Y.; Two Brothers, James Conklin of Bullville, N.Y., Fred Conklin of McKenzie, Tenn; Grandchildren, Tyler Conklin, Paige Elizabeth Conklin, Wyatt Conklin, Evan Conklin, Joseph Jordan, Beau Big Mountain, Ryan Conklin, Emmalee Glenn, and Tiffany Jordan; Great Grandchildren, R.J. Collins and Jordan Collins.
Besides his parents, Bo was also preceded in death by a sister, Agnes MacNear.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St. Paris, Tenn.
He will be cremated with a Memorial Service at Northfork Baptist Church at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 29, 2014.
Randy Kuykendall will officiate.

Bernie Wofford
Bernard “Bernie” Wofford, age 74, of Paris, Tenn., died Saturday, June 21, 2014, at his residence in Paris, Tenn.
He was married June 21, 1997 to Trudy Linn Wofford who preceded in death January 1, 2001.
Bernie was owner and operator of Wofford's Electric Service in Paris, TN for 40 years. He was a US Air Force Veteran of Korea and served in the National Guard. He formerly worked at Midland Brake and Lingle Corporation. Bernie was the former Administrator of Paris Moose Lodge #1915. He received the Pilgrim Degree of Merit, (the highest honor in Loyal Order of the Moose). He was a Life member of V.F.W., Amvets, and Elks Lodge, and he was a Charter Member of the American Legion. Bernie was a 50 year member of the Springville Masonic Lodge #130. He was a Royal Arch Mason, Cryptic Mason, Knight Templar Mason and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Al Chymia Shriner and member of Martha Chapter 155 Eastern Star.
Bernie was born June 3, 1940 in Ft. Henry, TN to Lucille Sexton Clendenin of Paris, TN and the late Carl Wofford.
Besides his mother, Bernie is also survived by his Two Daughters, Carrie (David) Johnson of Paris, Tenn, Crista (Eddie) White of Paris, Tenn; One Sister, Carolyn (James) Thornhill of South Haven, Miss; Two Brothers, Oscar Clendenin of Buchanan, Tenn, Jimmy (Marcia) Clendenin of Paris, Tenn; Grandchildren, Kailyn and Kendal Johnson of Paris, TN, Chandler Moseley of Murfreesboro, TN, Jackson and McKenna White of Paris, TN; and Special Friend, Brenda Peck of Murray, KY.
Besides his Wife and Father, Bernie was also preceded in death by a Brother, David Wofford and Step Father, John Clendenin.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn., where visitation will be from 4 – 8 pm Tuesday, June 24, 2014. Visitation will continue on Wednesday after 12 pm at Paris Convention Center. The Funeral Service will be at Paris Convention Center at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 25, 2014.
Kenny Carr will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Sykes, Brad Willoughby, Johnny Mack Palmer, Mike Snow, Joe Allen, and Fred Lindahl. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Paris Moose Lodge #1915.
Interment will be at Wofford cemetery in Big Rock, Tenn.
