ODESSA -- Arturo Briones Mendoza Sr., 65, of Odessa died Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with the Rev. Frank Chavez officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.
He was born in Saragosa. He was Catholic.
Survivors: Wife, Frances Mendoza of Odessa; sons, Israel Mendoza of Austin, Arturo B. Mendoza Jr. of Odessa; daughters, Mary Linda Carrasco of Odessa, Norma Jean Rodriguez of Fort Stockton, Grace Mendoza Butler of San Antonio; sister, Amelia Dominguez of Pecos; and 11 grandchildren.
Dorothy Ormand
HOUSTON -- Dorothy (Dottie) J. Ormand, 78, of Houston died Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998, after a lengthy illness.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church with the Revs. Bob Rivers and Vincent M. Rizzotto officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at J.B. Earthman Tanglewood Funeral Home. Burial will be Wednesday at Hillcrest Memorial Cemtery in Dallas. Arrangements by J.B. Earthman Tanglewood Funeral Home.
She was born in Paris, Texas, and moved to Houston from Los Angeles.
Survivors: Husband, Jerry Ormand of Houston; sons, Jimmy Ormand and Jerry Ormand, both of Dallas, Ron Ormand of Houston; sisters, Eleanor Florence of Fort Worth, Mary Camper of West Virginia; several grandchildren and one great-granchild.
Tommy Robbins
ODESSA -- Tommy S. Robbins, 66, of Odessa died Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998, at his residence.
Services are pending with Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Zola Cooper
CISCO -- Zola Cooper, 95, of Cisco, a retired business manager for Southwestern Bell, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998, at Canterbury Villa in Cisco.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Kimbrough Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Turner officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood cemetery. Arrangements by Kimbrough Funeral Home.
She was born in Eastland County. She was Methodist.
SURVIVORS: Husband, James Cecil Cooper of Cisco; son, Louis Cooper of Goldsmith; daughter, Shirley Wilson of Buffalo, Mo.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Jaime Gonzalez
ANDREWS -- Jaime "James" Gonzalez, 38, of Andrews, a self-employed carpenter, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Andrews North cemetery with W.E. Aguirre officiating. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
He was born in Kermit and moved to Andrews in 1989.
SURVIVORS: Parents, Juan and Emma Gonzalez Sr. of Loving, N.M.; grandmother, Rosa C. Gonzalez of Andrews; brothers, Juan Gonzalez Jr. of Midland, David Gonzalez of Santa Fe, N.M., Roman Gonzalez, Edwardo Gonzalez and Freddie Gonzalez, all of Loving, N.M., and Eddie Soto of Lovington, N.M.; and sister, Celia Ortega of Loving, N.M.
Tommy Robbins
ODESSA -- Tommy Scott Robbins, 66, of Odessa died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998, at his residence.
He was born in Owensville, Ken. He was Episcopalian.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Deborah Robbins of Odessa; son, Matthew Robbins of Odessa; brothers, John Robbins of Ohio and Donald Robbins of California; and sister, Betty Callahan of Michigan.
Guadalupe Romo
PECOS -- Guadalupe S. "Chino" Romo, 68, of Pecos, a retired employee of the Texas Department of Transportation, died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Midland after a lengthy illness.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at Santa Rosa Catholic Church. Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
He was born in Aquas Calientes, Mexico, and was a lifetime resident of Pecos. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Jose Isidoro Romo of Odessa and Carlos Romo of Pecos; daughters, Dolores Cravens of Odessa and Rosie Gomez of Wickett; brother, Jose Romo of Rosales, Chihuahua, Mexico; sister, Rosa Romo of San Lorenzo, Mexico; and eight grandchildren.
Thomas Russell
MIDLAND -- Thomas "Tom" Russell Jr., 72, of Monahans, a retired florist, died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, in Midland after a lengthy illness.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bellview Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert L. Latham officiating. Burial will be at Fairview cemetery. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.
He was born in Crossplains and moved to Monahans in 1994 from Midland.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Thomas Lee Russell of Salina, Kan., and Danny Ray Russell of Midland; daughters, Pamela Marie McLeod of Shreveport, La., Denise MaeDuBois of Austin and Paula Jean Eberle of Midland; brothers, Ralph Norwood Russell of Monahans and Don B. Russell of Lubbock; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Fred Skaggs
ODESSA -- Fred Skaggs, 81, of Paris, a retired grocery worker and rancher, died Friday, Sept. 4, 1998, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paris, Texas.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Lee Dunlap officiating. Arrangements by Gene Roden’s Sons Chapel.
He was born in Pampa.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Joyce M. Skaggs of Paris, Texas; sons, Danny Skaggs and Dennis Skaggs, both of Odessa, and Steve Skaggs of Georgetown; brother, Calvin Skaggs of Burnet; sisters, Jewell House of Sand Springs, Okla., and Sarah Bell of Lubbock.

He was born in Hunt County. He was Christian.

ODESSA -- Paul Raymond Cole, 87, of Odessa, a retired car salesman, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, at Southern Manor Nursing Home in Lubbock.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jim Brown officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Kingsville and was a longtime resident of Odessa.
Clarence Mitchell
ODESSA -- Clarence E. Mitchell, 69, of Odessa, a retired conductor for Southern Pacific Railway, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, at his residence.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. John Grappe officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
He was born in Ovala and moved to Odessa in 1994 from Branson, Mo.
He was an Army veteran.
