William A. Harris
Born in Newton, Kansas on Feb. 4, 1931
Departed on Jun. 21, 2004 and resided in Brenham, TX.

William A. Harris, 73, of Brenham, died, June 21, 2004, in Houston.
Mr. Harris was born Feb. 4, 1931, in Newton, Kansas, to Harold R. and Ethel Dorhman Harris. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School and earned a degree in agricultural engineering from Kansas State. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force in Germany.
On Dec. 5, 1969, he was married to Mary Lynn Flavin in Lenexa, Kansas.
Mr. Harris was a Rotarian and a life member of both the NRA and Texas Rifle Association. He also served as president of the Bluebonnet Opry. Mr. Harris was retired from Uncle Ben’s, a division of Mars Inc., where he was a purchasing manager.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lynn Harris of Brenham; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Rick Knight of St. Peter, Missouri and Loretta and Rob Kopp of Como, Mississippi; granddaughters, Sterling Knight and Lili Whalen; great-granddaughter, Julie; and brother, Robert Lee Harris of Panama City, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ethel Harris; and brother, Everett Dale Harris.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 10 in the fellowship hall of Brenham Presbyterian Church, 900 S. Jackson St., in Brenham with Dr. Malcolm McIver officiating.
Memorials may be given to Brenham Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall Building Fund.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.

Joe David Dismukes
Born in Brenham, TX on Jul. 24, 1958
Departed on Sep. 25, 2005 and resided in Brenham, TX.

Joe David Dismukes, 47, of Brenham and formerly of Sealy, died Sept. 25, 2005, in Trinity Care Center in Brenham.
Mr. Dismukes was born July 24, 1958, in Brenham, to Leonard E. and Sarah Frances Kubeczka Dismukes. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham. He attended Brenham schools. Mr. Dismukes was a heavy equipment operator in the construction business.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Kelly Nicole and James Antkowiak of Chappell Hill and Jenna Marie Dismukes of College Station; brother and sister-in-law, Leonard “Poncho” and Julie Dismukes of Brenham; nephews, Chad Dismukes of Brenham and Cole Dismukes of Huntsville; and aunts, uncles and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Hamilton and Mozelle Dismukes and Katy and John Kubeczka; and an infant sister.
Pallbearers will be Chad Dismukes, Ricky Kolajajak, Wayne Baranowski, Louis Kmiec, Jr., Leonard Bilski, Kenneth Schulze, Johnnie Kmiec and Joe Kmiec.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of Brenham.
The family wants to thank the staff of Hospice for their wonderful care and attention.

W. Bryan Dantone
September 4, 1951 - November 17, 2008
W. BRYAN DANTONE, 57, formerly of Houston, TX died unexpectedly at his home in Round Top, TX November 17, 2008. Bryan, a seventh generation Texan, was predeceased by his father Joseph D. Dantone and mother Regina Brelsford Share, and is survived by his wife of 23 years, Liz Burkholder Dantone, and an extended family in Hammond, LA, all of whom he cherished greatly.
Bryan grew up and was educated in Houston, TX. His entrepreneurial spirit guided his professional success in real estate investment. He will be remembered as a man of keen intellect and perceptive thinking. His interests included history, economics, politics, world travel, western music and driving fast cars. He was renowned for his storytelling and wit.
In 2003, Bryan and Liz established another home in historic Natchez, MS, where he will be remembered for his love of that community and generous support of local charitable organizations.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 22, 2008, 5:00 P.M., at the Rice University Chapel, in the Rice Student Center. Burial will be on December 7, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. in Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin, TX.
Reflective of Bryan’s many interests, memorial gifts may be made to the Houston Audubon Society, 440 Wilchester Blvd., Houston 77079, designated for sanctuaries, or Natchez Adams County Humane Society Building Fund, 393 Liberty Rd., Natchez, MS 39120, or Pleasant Acre Day School, 335 Liberty Rd., Natchez, MS 39120.

Secilia Marie Schroeder Hendrickson
Born in Hallettsville, TX on Mar. 2, 1925
Departed on Aug. 23, 2005 and resided in Brenham, TX.

Secilia Marie Hendrickson, 80, of Brenham, died August 23, 2005, in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham.
Mrs. Hendrickson was born March 2, 1925, in Hallettsville, Texas, to William and Edna Bolten Schroeder. She was baptized and confirmed September 21, 1952, in Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham.
On Aug. 12, 1950, she was married to Henry William Hendrickson, Jr. in Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham. Mrs. Hendrickson was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, VFW Post 7104 Auxiliary and American Legion Buddy Wright Post 48 Auxiliary. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Hendrickson of Bellville, Henry W. and Marcy Hendrickson and Ricky and Paula Hendrickson, all of Brenham; daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Adolph Schaefer, Jr. of Brenham, Gloria and Steve Shrock of Hempstead, Cheryl and Darrell Meier of Bellville, Margaret Reuter of Brenham and Rhonda and Tony Conner of Chappell Hill; grandchildren, Betty Brending, Steven and Stephanie Shrock, Shawn, Laura and Metri Hendrickson, Nicholas Vierus, Adrienne Meier, Kassie, Krissie and Jaylon Conner, Tiffany and Amber Reuter, Charly Ann and Hanna Hendrickson and Travis Medve; great-grandchildren, Jason and Justin Brending, Mackenzie Shrock and Ziek Hendrickson; brothers, Wm. “Bill” Schroeder of Waller and Elmer Schroeder of Houston; sisters, Olga Roeber of Hallettsville, Edna “Pat” Gerdes of Edna and Flora Wendt of Bellville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Hendrickson, Jr., on Aug. 3, 2002; three brothers; one sister; and one infant sister.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 in Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham with Rev. Matthew Jacobs and Rev. William Holzer officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26 in Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters and great-granddaughter.
Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church or Hospice Brenham, 302 E. Blue Bell Rd., Brenham, TX 77833.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.

Irene (Totsie) Mertz
May 23, 1918 - November 20, 2008
Irene “Totsie” Mertz, 90, of Brenham passed away Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Bluebonnet Hills Care Center.
Mrs. Mertz was born May 23, 1918 to Rudolph, Sr. and Josephine Grote Vogler in Wesley Community of Washington County, Texas. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On December 10, 1941 she married Lee Richard Mertz in Welcome Lutheran Church by Rev. I. M. Mansur. She was a homemaker and caregiver, enjoyed crocheting and loved being with family.
Her parents, husband Lee R. Mertz, children Eileen Mertz and Lester Mertz, brother and sister-in-law Gus and Adela Vogler and sister Leona Vogler preceded her in death.
Survivors are son and daughter-in-law Larry and Helene Mertz of Houston; daughter and son-in-law Julia and Albert Charles Green of Brenham; grandchildren Clifton Green and wife Marta, Carrie Little of Brenham, Christina Mertz and Jennifer Mertz of Houston; brother and sister-in-law Rudolph, Jr. and Dorothy Vogler of Brenham; great-grandchildren Emerald and Autumn Green of Houston; step great grandsons Andrew, David and John Wilhite along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday, November 23 in Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Services are 10 a.m., Monday, November 24, 2008 at Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin with Pastor Bill Mosley officiating. Burial will follow in Wesley Brethren Church Cemetery of Wesley.
Pallbearers are Clifton Green, Daniel Mertz, Jimmy Vogler, Chad Vogler, Ryan Eckert and Emerald Green. Honorary pallbearers are Jennifer and Christina Mertz, Autumn Green, Andrew, David and John Wilhite.
Memorials may be given to Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin.

Delbert Herman (Big D) Gaskamp
Born in Rosenberg, TX on Aug. 2, 1933
Departed on Aug. 10, 2005 and resided in Burton, TX.

Delbert Herman “Big D” Gaskamp, 72, of Burton, a husband, father, Paw Paw and son, went to eternal peace on August 10, 2005, at his residence.
Delbert was born to Louis and Melinda Reimer Gaskamp on August 2, 1933. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill. Delbert attended Hoddeville and Gay Hill schools and served in the Texas National Guard for nine years.
On Aug. 2, 1953, he was married to his sweetheart, LeVerna Seilheimer, at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg by Rev. Paul Fischer. Delbert retired from Brenham Wholesale Grocery after 30 years of service and worked part time at Hughes Electric. Delbert never met a stranger and was like by all who met him. He was a former member of Gay Hill-Mound Hill-Cedar Hill Fire Department and Gay Hill Shooting Club.
Delbert is survived by his wife of 52 years, LeVerna Gaskamp of Burton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Julie Gaskamp, Jeffrey “Pete” Gaskamp and Craig and Ann Gaskamp, all of Brenham. He is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Ann Gaskamp and Harry and Patty Gaskamp, all of Brenham; and one sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Jerry Clifton of Crowell. Delbert, known as Paw Paw to his six grandchildren, Wayne, Amie, Emilie, Jon, Jonathan and Melissa, will be thought of often. Also, numerous nieces and nephews will miss him.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at Memorial Oaks Chapel at 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 12, with visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. and continuing after the memorial service. Pastor Virgil Pecht will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice Brazos Valley or St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill.
Hospice and Pastor Pecht were a great comfort to Delbert and his family.
Service arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.

Grace (Braun) Hinze
Grace (Braun) Hinze, 92, of Round Top, the widow of Clarence Hinze, died Sept. 30, 2014, at Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Hinze will lie in state at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham from 4:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3 until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4. She will lie in state at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton beginning at noon Saturday, Oct. 4. Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. The funeral service for Grace Hinze will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top with Pastor David Tinker officiating. Burial will be in Isaac Hill Cemetery at Round Top. Survivors include her son, Billie T. Hinze and wife Darlene of Round Top; daughter, Judy M. Matula and husband Jerry of Brenham; daughter-in-law, Maxine (Mueller) Hinze of College Station; brother, Floyd Braun and wife Jocie of Carmine; sisters, Sylvia Hughey Truitt of Round Rock; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ira Mae Hinze of Carmine, Ruby and Raymond Lehmann of Ledbetter and Raymond Kuretsch of Ganado; grandchildren, Bradley Muesse, Sharlyne Friedrich, Danny Muesse, Patricia Gerthe, Terry Matula, Garrett Hinze, Jeffry Hinze, Alyson Hinze, Jacob Hinze and Justin Hinze; and great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jordan and Paden Muesse, Dalton, Lucas and Grace Friedrich, Blake and Megan Muesse, Samantha and Matthew Gerthe, Evan Matula and Ethan Deichler. Funeral arrangements for Grace Hinze are entrusted to Foehner Funeral Home, 13560 W. Washington St. in Burton.
