Helen May (Mueller) Locke
Helen May (Mueller) Locke, 88, passed away Sept. 28, 2014 in Brenham. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 3, 2014 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton, with burial following in the Ledbetter Cemetery. Pastors Glen Schoeneberg and Judy Sherman will officiate. Helen Locke was born April 15, 1926 in Los Angeles, California to Wm. F. and Rosa Lehmann Mueller. She was baptized into the Christian faith on Dec. 11, 1927, and confirmed July 14, 1943. On August 10, 1971, she was married to Henry M. Locke. Helen was employed as a secretary for Houston Natural Gas until her retirement in 1985. A member of St. John’s United Church of Christ of Burton, she was also an active in the Burton Heritage society until her health began to decline. Gardening and playing 88 with her friends were favorite pastimes. Survivors include her husband, Henry M. Locke of Burton; brother, Earl Mueller; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Don E. and Marilyn Locke; sisters and brothers-in-law Violet and Chance Janac, June and Roy Marshall, and Jean Mueller; nephews: Michael Mueller and wife Lora; Greg Mueller and wife Tara; Robert Burns, Joel Burns, James Burns and wife Natalie, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edwin T. Menk; parents Wm. F. and Rose Mueller; niece, Natalie Mueller Chabot, and sister-in-law Elizabeth (Buffy) Mueller. Serving as pallbearers are Michael Mueller, Greg Mueller, Joel Burns, James Burns, Kevin Locke, and Steve Locke. Nelson Felder, Lee Gilby, and Fred Agdern will be honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be directed to St. John’s United Church of Christ of Burton. Funeral arrangements for Helen May Locke are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.

Kenneth Lawrence (Larry) Bickham
Kenneth Lawrence (Larry) Bickham, passed away Saturday evening, September 27th from his home here on earth to his heavenly home in a blaze of glory, with the most beautiful sunset shining over his bed, and surrounded by his loving family. The visitation will be from 6-8 pm Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, Texas 77833 and the funeral will be at 11am, Thursday, Oct. 2 at St. John Lutheran Church at Prairie Hill, Old Independence and Prairie Hill Road. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Edna Bickham, a brother John who died right after birth, Aunts, Helen Spies, June Bollinger, Helen Kauble all from Ohio, His Aunt Ruth Schell in California, His in-laws, Isabelle Meckley Nevergall and Doris Blaine Nevergall and Richard Arnold Nevergall. He leaves to mourn his passing his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Nevergall Bickham of 54 years of marriage, his children: Kelsey Lorraine Townsend Remmelts (Randy), Kara Le Ann Seward (Samuel), Kenneth Richard Bickham(Melody) and Kollin Leigh Bickham(Cherise), his grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Taryn Townsend Hernandez(Carlos), Hunter Townsend, Braeden Townsend, Grace Seward, Claire Seward, Samuel Seward, Aurora Bickham, Noah Bickham, Isaac Bickham, Isabelle Bickham, Winter Bickham, Kailey Bickham, and Emily Bickham and Great Granddaughter: Jaelyn Hernandez. Brother-in-Law Dennis Nevergall, nieces and nephews, one aunt, Beulah Carnes in Ohio and many cousins.

Wayne Marvin Bethke
Wayne Marvin Bethke, 83, of Brenham passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2014 following an extended battle with cancer. Wayne was born in Winfield, Kansas on July 1, 1931. He was raised in Giddings, Texas, son of Antone and Minnie Urban Bethke. He was baptized on August 9, 1935 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Serbin, Texas. He was confirmed in Christ by Pastor Max Studtmann of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughters Donna Hinze, Carol Mueller, Lynne McCartney, and Lori Hughes; sons-in-law Andy McCartney and O’Brien Hughes; grandsons Brandon Mueller and wife Sarah, Tyler Hinze and wife Lyndsay, Matthew McCartney, and Liam Hughes; great-grandchildren Michael and Taylor Hinze; sisters Ruth Koslan and Earlene Billig; brother and sister-in-law Raymond and Pat Bethke; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dee and John Pace; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Antone and Minnie Bethke; brothers Marvin and Charles Bethke; brothers-in-law Erwin Koslan and Herman Dube, Jr.; and son-in-law Gary Hinze. Funeral services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham on Sunday, September 28 beginning at 4:00 pm. Visitation will be held at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham from 6:00 -8:00 pm. Saturday evening. Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church or Hospice of Brazos Valley. Funeral arrangements for Wayne Bethke are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.

Allyne Prenzler Derrick
Allyne Prenzler Derrick, 96, of Burton and the widow of Erwin Derrick, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village. Surviving loving family includes: son, Bill Derrick; grandchildren, Julyne and Nick Siewert, Jason Derrick; great-grandchildren, Kerrigan Derrick, William Parker Siewert; nieces and nephews, Carol and Arlin Naegeli, Joyce and Herbert Rust, Donald Derrick; special friends Justine Morton, Jane and Mark Crocker; and numerous cousins. Visitation with the Derrick family will be Friday, September 26th from 6-8 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services for Allyne Derrick will be held Saturday, September 27th at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg with Rev. Denise Seymour officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Burton. Leon Robert Ralph Beach
Leon Robert Ralph Beach, 76, of Brenham, peacefully joined the Lord on September 19, 2014. Leon never met a stranger and his genuine smile warmed the hearts of everyone he encountered. He will be best remembered for his compassion, love and care for anyone he knew. Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel, a Vigil will be held at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham. Leon is survived by his wife, Anita; a son and his wife Kenneth Klay and Brenda of Brenham; three daughters and their husbands: Sandra Lee and Craig Wiesepape of Brenham; Kelli Marye and Mike Craddock of Austin; and Kimberly Michelle and Paul Jenkins of Katy. Leon was blessed with eight grandchildren, Christina Wiesepape, Lance Beach, Kara Beach and fiancé Cody Boeker, Shelby Wiesepape, Courtney Wiesepape, Sloan Jenkins, Sophia Jenkins and Cole Craddock; brothers and sisters: Evelyn and Randy Green, Beatrice Arnold, Geraldine and Melvin Voigt, Gerald and Janis Beach, Terry and Beverly Beach, David and Sydney Beach, Detta Zomnir and Kathy Webber. Selma Peters Naumann
Selma Peters Naumann, 91, of Brenham and the widow of Calvin Naumann, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at her home. She and her husband owned and operated C&S Drive-in and Corner Drug from the 1960s-1970s. She also worked at Topper’s until retirement at age 87. Surviving loving family includes: daughters, Marilyn Naumann, Pat Byrd Wright and husband Hoot; son-in-law, Jim Brown; grandchildren, Heath and Carrie Byrd, Doug Brown, Matthew and Renee Brown; great-grandchildren, Isabel, Wyatt and Tyler Byrd, Andrew Brown and another expected March great-grandchild; sister, Mabel Dufilho; sister-in-law, Margaret Peters; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation with the Naumann family will be this evening from 6-8 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services for Selma Naumann will be Friday, September 19th at 2 p.m. in Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Lee Kunkel and Rev. William Holzer officiating. Isidore Ike Jozwiak, 82 of Chappell Hill, passed away Monday, September 15, 2014. Visitation will be Thursday, September 18th from 5-7 p.m. with rosary recited at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 19th at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Jozef Musiol as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery. Arnold Peters, Sr., 95, formerly of Carmine, died September 14, 2014, at Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village in Brenham. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 18 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton with Pastor Glen Schoeneberg officiating. Burial will be in La Bahia Cemetery, near Burton. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 17 at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Dennis Allen of Kossee; daughter-in-law, Janette Peters of Brenham; grandchildren, Kevin Peters, Kimberly and Jeff Shows, Kayla and Jason Romine, Jason and Carrie Roemer and Joel and Stefanie Roemer; great-grandchildren, Cameron Peters and Carly Shed, Caleb Peters, Kacey and Derrick Smith, Kelly Shows, Ashleigh Romine, Amanda Romine, Kate Roemer and Logan Roemer; great-great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Peters and Jaxson Smith; step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Menetta Wied and Mary Ann Bathe; nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary C. Darnell, 80, of Brenham, the widow of Alvin C. Darnell, died September 14, 2014, at Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 17 at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham with Rev. Jon Stouffer officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 16 at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. Esther Spiess, 92, of Industry, TX., passed away on September 13, 2014. Elroy Henry Wiecker
Elroy Henry Wiecker, 82, of Bleiblerville, TX, died September 11, 2014 at his home. Funeral services, 3:00pm Sunday, September 14, 2014 Welcome Lutheran Church in Welcome. Visitation, 5:00 to 7:00 pm Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel, 842 East Main Street in Bellville, TX. Interment at Welcome Lutheran Church cemetery. Pallbearers are Charles Goeke, Wilbert Kalkhake, Jr., Robert Hromadka, Stanley Krebs, Carrell Wendt and Olan Ashorn. Honorary pallbearers are David Wendt and Randy Wendt. Elroy Henry Wiecker was born on Sept. 30, 1931 to Henry and Dora (Kalkhake) Wiecker in Bleiblerville, Texas. He was raised on a farm in Bleiblerville and went to school in Santa Anna and Bellville High School. He worked on the farm until he went into the Army in the Korean War. Elroy was baptized in the Lutheran Faith at Welcome Lutheran church by Rev. J. Appel on Feb. 14, 1932 and confirmed on March 30, 1947 by Rev. Walter Wolf. On June 30, 1954 he married Mabel Fay Hoff in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bellville by Rev. A.J. Mohr. They made their home in Bleiblerville. Elroy worked at Brenham Livestock Auction, Herbert’s Mkt. and Catering and raised cattle. He also did lawn mowing jobs. He loved gardening, dancing, his grandchildren and great grandchild and taking care of his cattle. He was a member of Sons of Herman, American Legion, post 602 and Disabled Veterans. Elroy is kept in loving memory by his wife of 60 years Mabel Fay Wiecker of Bleiblerville, daughter and son- in- law Sheree Dale Lange and husband Tommy of Brenham, son, Dwayne Elroy Wiecker of Bleiblerville, grandchildren, Amber Nicole Dooley and husband Blake of Carmine, Chelsey Dawn Lange, one great grandchild, Summer Quinn Dooley. His sister Bernice Hromadka of Bleiblerville, nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Dora Wiecker; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Paul and Alvina Hoff; brother- in- law Eddie Hromadka; brother-in-law Leroy Hoff and wife Lola; and sister-in-law Florence Wendt and husband Earl. In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to the Building Fund of Welcome Lutheran Church. Knesek Funeral Home in Bellville in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Robert A. Johnston
Dr. Robert A. Johnston Ed. D, 76, of Brenham, died September 5th. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughter Kristine; son Brett, and granddaughters Nicole and Emily. Visitation will be Sept. 9, 6-8 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel, Brenham. Funeral will be Sept. 10, 11 a.m., Brenham Presbyterian Church. Graveside Service at 2 p.m., Prairie Lea Cemetery. Elaine B. Fay
Elaine B. Fay, 87, wife of Edward Fay, passed away Sept. 8, 2014 in Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center in Brenham. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 12, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham, with Father Ernesto Elizondo officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery in Chappell Hill. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Survivors include her husband, Edward Fay of Chappell Hill; son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Melinda Fay; daughter Deborah Hill and Freddie Piedrasanta; grandchildren: Laina Freedberg and husband Doug, Lisa Piedrasanta, Brandon Wayne Fay and wife Francesca, Shanna Sutton, Amber Gould, and Ryan Martinez and husband Manuel; great-grandchildren: Vivian, Andrew and Harper Freedberg, Skyla Wilson, Kailey Gould, and Mackenzie Martinez. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Jess B. Bessinger, Jr. Funeral arrangements for Elaine B.
