LAMONT KNAPP SUTHERLAND
INMAN, S.C. – Lamont Knapp Sutherland, age 63, of 329 Fagan Dr., born Mar. 1, 1941 in Pulaski, Va. and was a son of the late Roby K. and Katherine K. Knapp Sutherland. He worked for Spartan Container.
He is survived by his loving ex-wife Pam Sutherland Jacks; two daughters: Nikki Sutherland Tessner, Blacksburg, S. C., Katherine Sutherland Dove of Radford, Va.; one stepson: Donald Duane Hall, Gaffney; sister, Caroline (Kary) Sutherland, Pulaski; aunt, Mary Knapp, Pulaski; four grandchildren, Zack and Colby Tessner, Gabe Dove, Kelsey Hall; and predeceased by grandson James Taylor Dove IV.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Mar. 13 at 1 p.m. at Eggers Funeral Chapel.
Memorials may be made to New Heights Baptist Church, Gaffney, S.C.
The family is at the home of Pam S. Jacks, 435 Coggins Shore Road, Inman.
Eggers Funeral Home, Boiling Springs, S. C. in charge of the arrangements.

BESSIE SPRATT RUNIONS
BARREN SPRINGS - Bessie Spratt Runions, 60 of Barren Springs, VA born on January 12, 1944 in Roderfield, WV and was a daughter of the late Frank & Mary Cline Spratt. Mrs. Runions was proud to have been an art teacher at the Brevard County, Fl. School system and she also loved to sing. Mrs. Runions is survived by her husband of 42 years Ronnie Runions of Barren Springs, VA, 2 daughters & son-in-laws, Barbara & Jeff Stowers of Pulaski, Lisa & Phil Wade of Pulaski, 1 son & daugher-in-law Robert & Libby Runions of Pulaski, 1 brother-in-law, Roger Runions of Pearisburg, 3 grandchildren, Karen Bethencourte of Dublin, John Stowers, Jr. & Paige Stowers both of Pulaski, 2 great grandchildren, Yanka & Shae Bethencourte of Dublin and very special friends, Debbie Archer & Kathy Denny both of Pulaski. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 12, 2004 at 11:00 am the Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg with Dr. Fred L. Austin officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6 - 8 pm.

WILLIAM BURTON “WIB” CROCKETT, SR.
DRAPER – William Burton “Wib” Crockett, Sr., age 71, of Draper, born in Wythe County May 31, 1932, son of the late William B. and Della McPeak Crockett. He was a member of Foster Falls United Methodist Church and a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict where he was a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Division. Mr. Crockett was a member of American Legion Post #158 in Lebanon, Pa. and American Veterans #136 in Ephrata, Pa. He was a member of the NRA and was retired from Raymark Industries with 37 years service.
Surviving are: his wife, Shirley G. Crockett of Wytheville; one son and daughter-in-law, William B., Jr. and Victoria Crockett, Manheim, Pa.; one sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and James Amos, Max Meadows; one brother and sister-in-law, James Nathan and Martha Crockett, Foster Falls; special friend, Oakey Slaughter; three grandchildren, Heather Renee Crockett, Danielle Elizabeth Crockett, Callie Lynn Crockett.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Mar. 12 at 11 a.m. in the Reese Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Rick Lindamood and Lee Thomas officiating. Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Reese Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorial donations to the American Lung Association.
Reese Funeral Home, Austinville, Va. is in charge of the arrangements.

JAMES DONALD BLEVINS
DUBLIN – James Donald Blevins, age 55, of Dublin born in Mango County, W. Va. on Jan. 31, 1949 to the late Richard Keceil and Kandas Bartram Blevins. He was preceded in Cemetery. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg, Va.

VIRGINIA LAURA MILLER LEWIS
PULASKI – Virginia Laura Miller Lewis, age 74 of 405 Maple Street, Pulaski departed this life on Sunday, Mar. 7, 2004 at the Pulaski Community Hospital. She was death by two brothers; James Miller and Leon Miller; three sisters, Agnes Smith, Juanita Penn and Rosa Trueheart. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Walter Lewis of Pulaski; two brothers, Howard Miller, Martinsville, Va. and Robert Miller, Pulaski; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, Mar. 12, at 2 p.m. at the Randolph Avenue United Methodist Church with Rev. Leroy Henry officiating. Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service. Burial will be at the Pinehurst died Tuesday, Mar. 2, 2004 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Reverend Ross was married to Hallie Mae Grimmett who survives of the home. Also surviving are two daughters; Carol Ross Cox, Asheboro, Linda Gaynell Ross of the home, one son; Glen H. Ross of Thomasville, two sisters; Ethel R. Slusher, Beltone, Texas, Darlene R. Courier, Albemarle, two brothers; Ralph Ross of Roanoke, Eugene Ross, Albemarle; two grandchildren.
The service was held 2 p.m., Thursday Mar. 2 at Family Funeral Care Chapel with Dr. Jerry Gibbons officiating. died Sunday Morning March 7, 2004 in Pulaski Community Hospital. death by 1 brother; Arthur Rees. He is survived by his wife: Doris Jean Nunn Rees of Pulaski: 2 sons; Kenna Rees of California, Rhys “Joe” Rees and his wife Tracey of Leesburg: 1 daughter; Doris Ann Benson and her husband Bill of Cary, N.C.: 2 sisters; Annell Sizemore of Ft. Meyers, FL, and Jeanette Weeks of Beckley, WVa. Also survived by 8 grandchildren; Seer, Abram, Carson, and Joseph Rees, Lyndie, Billy, Arthur and Allie Benson. Memorial services will be held Saturday March 13, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Randal Frye officiating. Cemetery at a later date. Visiting will be Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 554 Roanoke, Va. 24003-0554 or to the First United Methodist Church 135 4th St., N.W. Pulaski, Va. 24301. CONNIE EDWARDS LINKOUS
RADFORD - Connie Edwards Linkous, 55 of Radford, death by her mother, Tilley Christine Roop Edwards and a brother, Dennis Edwards. Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Donald Linkous of Radford; a daughter, Michelle Hoback of Radford; a son, Michael Linkous of Radford; her father, Frank H. Edwards of Pulaski; a granddaughter; two brothers, Gary Edwards of
Pulaski, and Ellery Edwards of Florida. Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Ballew officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society - Pulaski County Relay for Life, P.O.B. 554 Roanoke, Va. 24003. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.

RICHARD DOUGLAS “DICK” HAGY
RADFORD – Richard Douglas “Dick” Hagy, age 63, of Radford, death by his mother Evelyn F. Moore and paternal grand parents Bob and Mary Farmer.
Surviving are: his wife, Joanne B. Hagy, Radford; one son, Charlie Hagy, Oakland, Calif.; a daughter, Robin Hagy and her husband Wayne Booker, Roanoke; sister and brother in law, Debbie and Bill Linkous, Christiansburg; two nephews, Billy Linkous and his wife Heather and John Linkous, both of Christiansburg; seven aunts, Helen Quesenberry, Radford, Doris Ingram, Huntersville, N.C., Eileen Rickett , Covington, Peggy Via, Oklahoma City, Ok., Jean Farmer, Blacksburg, Polly Farmer, Radford, and Margaret Farmer, Covington; two uncles, Bill Farmer, Avon, Ohio and Clarence Farmer, Covington. An extended family of cousins whom he loved and cherished survive. The family would like to thank his family and friends, with a special thanks to his cousin Nora Farmer, for their help and support during Dicks extended illness. Also special thanks to the staff of Lewis-Gale Hospital, Richfield Retirement Center and Radford Rehabilitation Center for their care.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Pulaski County Humane Society, P. O. Box 1046, Dublin, Va. 24084. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Mar. 11, at the DeVilbiss Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ernest Chinault officiating. Cemetery. Virginia May Lodge # 38 AF&AM will conduct Masonic graveside services. Masons are asked to meet at the died on Sunday, Mar. 7, 2004 at Annaburg Manor in Manassas. Mr. Thornton lived in Pulaski for over 35 years before moving to the Manassas area in 1984. In Manassas he was active in the New Life Community Church. Vernon was a member of Gideons International since 1969.
Mr. Thornton was preceded in Interment will follow at Mt. Comfort married Charlie Ellis Rorrer, Sr. at the age of 14 on Oct. 28, 1917; they were died in 1958. Of their union, 17 children were died at birth. Also deceased are 3 step children: Ray, Roscoe, and Anna Mae Rorrer Trent. Deceased children are: Troy (Thelma), Agnes, Rodney (Helen), Daniel (Margaret), and Doranna (Stan) Arner.
Surviving children are: Hazel (Tom) Vaughan, Pulaski; James (Wanda) Rorrer, Dublin; and Charlie Rorrer, Jr. (Eveleen), Pulaski. Tom (Barb) Rorrer, Washington; Julie Rorrer, California; Gladys (Ed) Parks, Edith Rorrer, and Bobby (Elise) Rorrer, all of Canton, Ohio. From these children she celebrates the birth of 62 grandchildren, 79 great grandchildren, 54 great, great grandchildren, and 8 great, great, great grandchildren.
Granny, as she was known, was a midwife and a herbologist in her younger days. She loved collecting and digging herbs. She also will be remembered for all of her canning of which she continued till last fall.
Granny is also known for her quilts of which many loved ones are comforted by still.
Cemetery on Granny Hollow Lane, Pulaski. Visiting will be Wednesday evening from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. The family will be meeting at the residence of the son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Eveleen Rorrer on Case Knife Road.
We have truly lost a heirloom in her died in Lynchburg Sunday, Mar. 7, 2004 surrounded by family. She is the wife of Willard Lee Austin, and the widow of James Haygood Stevens.

He was preceded in died Sunday Morning March 7, 2004 in Pulaski Community Hospital. Memorial services will be held Saturday March 13, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Randal Frye officiating. Cemetery at a later date. Visiting will be Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Arrangements by Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home, Pulaski.

DAVID LEE AKERS
DUBLIN - David Lee Akers, age 74 of Highland Ridge Rehabilitation Center, Dublin, Born February 16, 1930 in Galax, he was the son of the late Elsie Prillaman Akers and Robert Edward Akers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in Cemetery in Pulaski. The family will receive friends Wednesday morning at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Arrangements by Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home, Pulaski.
