SCANNED TEXT:
DANIEL PATRICK BOLAND "Danny" Sodality (1-2-3-4), Eucharistic Committee (4); "Sancta Maria" Humor Editor; C. S. M. C. (1-2-3); Baseball (2-3-4), Captain (3); Football (2-3-4), Captain (4); Interclass Basketball (2-3-4). If ever St. Mary's doors closed reluctantly upon one of its students, Danny will be that one. Irish to the core, he combines all the likable and pugnacious qualities of that race. As the quarterback and captain of the football for himself and for the school. His resonant voice often was heard, not only on the field of team, he won popularity and admiration both sports but also in the classrooms. He has the good wishes of all as he leaves St. Mary's. ELIZABETH ANN BROWN "Betty" Sodality (1-2-3-4), Consulter (3), Pamphlet Committee (4); "Sancta Maria" Social Editor; C. S. M. C. (1-2.3); Glee Club (1-2.3); Dra- matics (2-3); Class Vice-President (2); Library Club (3), Vice-President (3); Basketball (3.4); Debating Club (3-4), Vice-President (4); French Club (4). To think of Betty is to think of excitement, an even temper and accomplishments all to- gether. She is generally loved because of her friendliness, good cheer and her desire to please, and she is admired for her dimples, honey-colored hair and infectious laugh. Betty has been merry and magnanimous, amiable and active, reliable and youthful. Her achieve- ments as a social success have been outstand- ing. Her record as a dancer and her pleasing personality presage a brilliant histrionic career for Betty. JOHN FRANCIS BROWN "Joe" Sodality (1-2-3-4), Chairman of Finance Com- mittee (4); "Sancta Maria" Circulation Man- ager; C. S. M. C. (1-2-3); Latin Club (3). Although he is sometimes called "John Francis," he is "our Joe." He is one of the boys from Sacred Heart and knows how to do things. He is quiet, unassuming, 'out reliable and hard-working. Unlike the rest of us, Joe was not stunned by High School back in 1933 as a Freshman, but "dug in" and received good marks. He has been an excellent worker in the Sodality and various other undertakings. We expect to hear from him in later years as a second Sir Isaac Walton. 19
